  1. Re: Worlds of Empire - Waddya think? Hey! I am going to Vermont to see my stepdaughter in June. Is it really nice there?
  2. Re: What I've Learned Playing An Alien Ha! That reminds of the Damned trilogy by Alan Dean Foster. In the trilogy two intersteller forces went to war with one another. The one the Amplitur Purpose was lead by a race of powerful telepaths known as the (you guessed it!) Amplitur. They were dedicated to brainwashing all of the rest of the universe. The Weave were the other race that opposed them. What was interesting about all this is that the neither side really liked to fight. In fact only two races from either side of war actually fought on the battlefield. The reason why is that both sides were much too civilized to be tolerant of violence. Then the Weave came to Earth and found the humans. We were not only close to aliens in social level and technology. We liked to fight and kill and where very good at it. Not only that when the Amplitur finally captured a human and tried to brainwash us they found out that not only did it not work, prolonged exposure to human brainwaves brought pain and eventual death!
  3. Re: WWYCD: The rest of the world's Supers just changed sex. Ewwwwwwwwww:eek:
  4. Re: Weapon of war vs. Weapon of terror Actually a really good example of primitive societies kicking the *** of high tech aliens is in the book the High Crusade by Poul Anderson. An alien race lands on a small English village during the Crusades and starts to terrorize the inhabitants. For about 10 seconds. Then the knights attack and kill all but one of the aliens because the Wesgorix? where unaccostumed to fighting hand-to-hand.
  5. Re: Wwcyfd? Wwcyfd? What does this mean?
  6. Re: The thing's I've learned playing a Brick... Or 3rd Edition Champions.
  7. Re: The thing's I've learned playing a Brick... My Golden Age team was like that. They had two bricks and a martial artist. The MA had some gliding and the brick some leaping but that was about it. I was sorely tempted at times to just toss some flying EB's their way with no range modifier advantage and just take potshots at them.
  8. Re: Battlestar galactica pistols. Where did you here about the US Army going back to the Collt .45? Do you have an article about it?
  9. Re: Help with Alien Wars You were the author!? Cool. I really liked running that scenario. I particulary liked the way you handled the pregens. I do however, have one question and one request. The question is will you be writing more modules like this? AND Can you please put in a write up of talents on the pregens that don't appear in the Core Rulebook? I don't own either Fantasy Hero or Dark Champions and therefore did not know what certain talents that some of the pregens had such as combat shooting and fearless. Other than that it was definitely worth the $4.
  10. Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with some pointers on how to run a Military Science Fiction RPG. I really had fun running Alien Wars last Sunday and would like to do it again. However, I am relatively inexperienced at running a Sci-Fi game, I haven't done anything like this since I played Traveller in the 80's. If someone could show me some links and tell me a little of your experiences in running this kind of campaign it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  11. Re: WWYCD 101:A question of faith You know, this whole scenario reminds me of a Sliders Episode I once saw. The sliders arrive on a planet that appears to be a paradise. There is really no poverty, low crime and everyone seems rather happy. They find out that the main reason is because this world has no overpopulation. The entire population of the planet earth was only about 500 million. There was also a lottery where people would get money from the lottery instead of spending it on the hope that they would win it. When they did win it they would be given a black credit card that would give them instant access to whatever they wanted to buy at any store. The only problem was that after all this was over they were then expected to die. The governments of this world enacted sanctioned suicide.
  12. Hey, Just wondering, after running Rescue at Karadonna last night with three of my players (they doubled up on characters), I was wondering if hero is planning on doing any more Alien Wars stuff? I can see that with Worlds of the Empire being available that more Star Hero stuff being published, is there a chance that maybe some more AW stuff will appear as well?
  13. Re: Penny Dreadful in Champions Pretty much leave it as is. Maybe her henchmen could be tougher, which more high tech weaponry, but that's about it.
  14. Re: Character post: Free Spirit Could we see her original golden age costume? Nice write-up.
  15. Re: My Ferris Bueller Writeup. He does have some impressive computer hacking skills. He was able to alter his absences by hacking the high school computer.
  16. Re: CHAR: Iron Man He doesn't deny its existance but he hates magic because he doesn't understand it and it violates certain physical laws. He basically sees magic as a type of science that he doesn't understand. From what I have been able to understand about this topic is that in the marvel universe magic requires that a person put their reason aside and accept that there are higher powers in the universe that need to be called upon. Science is based on reasoning out the universe and gaining from that reasoning.
  17. Re: Where would you go? The characters are going on the vacation. They have been through quite alot over the last 5 months or so and are in need of some R&R.
  18. Hi, I am running a Silver Age Champions game set in San Francisco in the year 1964. My players all go to Stanford University and they are due to return to classes in the spring semester. They are planning to go somewhere special for spring break. So here is the question. You are a young fun-loving superhero and you have enough money to pretty much go anywhere you want. Where would you go?
  19. Re: An Amusing Character Thread You know, in DEMON one of the Quilophic lords is known as the eight muse. The unnamed one is the muse no god would acknowledge. This would be a really good pontential villian.
  20. Re: Anyone combine Champs with Call of Cuthulu? I ran the champions adventure Menace out of Time wherein the heroes ended up going back in time to the ice age and ran into a Flying Polyp. I got the write-up from the Surbrook's stuff webpage (thanks Mike!). I also ran Demon's Rule and alot of fun with that too.
  21. Re: Kirby Monster website! This is pretty damn cool. I love old silver age stuff like this.
  22. Re: Legal status of major supergroups Do you think that a team with government sanction would have to give away their secret IDs?
  23. Hi, I am presently running my game in San Fransisco, CA and I have considered having my characters become deputized by a locally friendly F.B.I. agent. I was wondering legally how this is actually done and what a deputized individual could with his newly acquired position. Can anyone give me some information on be made into a deputy?
  24. Re: CHAR: Thor. (Marvel Style) They are might be from the Menace out of Time adventure.
