Labor is a large chunk of cost for the food industry, between 25-35% typically. Just FYI, a quick Google will confirm this. It’s a service industry, labor is a significant cost factor.

Indeed, I like Captain Carter. I do not understand why the Watcher cares about her more than the billions of humans (trillions?) who die in the course of the incidents he’s observing.

Fresh faced star hitter Israel vs Hamas is at bat, hard to know how this is going to play out with the public but it’s going to be called by two candidates who were in grade school with Bob Uecker.

My bet is that DeSantis is angling for a cushy post-gubernatorial job in a future Trump administration. Donnie is infamous for overlooking almost any past offense, if the offender subsequently grovels to him enough.

And endorsed Trump. Just embarrassingly craven given his campaign history and comments. Probably angling for a cushy cabinet post like boot licker, sign spinner, or human ottoman.

But my point is that this wasn't how it was presented by Beau. He goes on about it as if it's an actual possibility. That was my read on it. I may be being over negative due to lack of sleep b/c of my back. I do find the guy grating in the first place (no fault of his to be sure), so that doesn't help.

Things like this are are why I believe that the Republicans have lost the vision that they got when they became a solo party under Lincoln. If they don't act fast, they will self-destruct and leave everyone with a power void and solo party nation. This is something that scares me more than a Trump dictatorship. I really hope that some other party comes forward that will be a better voice for the people than any current party has proven to be.

I believe the writers have made and are making a big mistake by turning the Watcher from his classic What If? role of observer and narrator, into an active participant in the stories. Having him just walk along chatting with other characters distracts from the story playing out as the logical consequence of "What if such-and-such happens?" When this nigh-omnipotent being becomes just another player in the story, it turns into, "What if such-and-such happens, and the Watcher does or doesn't interfere?" It also strips away the Watcher's aura of being on a level far above these mortals, privileged to know what they can never comprehend, yet bound to remain aloof.

It's also kind of weird that Peggy Carter now seems to be the Watcher's pet human, like Jean-Luc Picard was to Q. I like Captain Carter, but I don't see why she should matter more to him than the many other heroes in the Multiverse. Unless this is another manifestation of that female-dominance kick that Marvel seems to have been on the past few years.

Sorry yeah  Six years.  They need something fundamental, fairly inexpensive, and very entertaining.  Not another 200+ million dollar flop written by people who don't understand the fans or characters.

DC figured out the formula decades ago, but keeps forgetting until they stumble on it again then forget it again.  Marvel did the same thing.

    1) Quality, talented, experienced director who loves the property and characters
    2) Quality, talented, experienced writers who love the property and characters
    3) Top end talent to portray the characters, even if they are lesser known
    4) Show respect for the property and present it as it is, without needing to insert any particular ideology or narrative.

Superman The Motion Picture, 89 Batman, Iron Man, Dark Knight, on and on you can list the films that worked and are legendary, that follow this simple, obvious formula.  But it quickly gets forgotten or cast aside for crap and messaging.

Haley is far behind Trump in polls of Republican voters, but her poll numbers have been rising pretty steadily while those of the other also-rans have declined or flatlined. Haley is close to Ron DeSantis in aggregate poll numbers, and has beaten him in a number of polls. (See recent polling results.) If Donnie's troubles with the law render him unable to run in the primaries, Nikki is in a strong position to take the Republican nomination.

Nikki Haley would be an obvious improvement over Donald Trump in terms of competence, but with all she's said and done I still don't want her anywhere near the Oval Office.

I don't think Donnie has ever faced an opponent in court with greater resources than his, who's willing to fight the case to the end.

His lawyers are trying Hail Mary tactics now. I have to admit that this last one, ridiculous as it is, was at least creative.

I don't think it would work that way. First, this is a squabble over semantic meaning of "defend" vs "support." Trump's lawyers can always argue that his actions as POTUS did "defend" the constitution, but not "support" it. Second, legislation passed under his administration was the responsibility of Congress, not the President. Third, most of what Trump did under executive order, has already been reversed by President Biden.

All the pro Palestinian friends and family I know are completely quiet on facebook and social media.

In old media there are still holdouts calling Hamas "warriors" and trying to focus on Palestinian civilian casualties.
But the long term of this might be that Palestine and its peoples cause loose legitimacy.
I think the reason for this is Hamas use of social media where they display corpses and parade naked civilian women through the city while the crowd is jeering.
Social media removes the veil and shows the truth, especially to the young. Maybe social media will be what kills Hamas in the long term.
