  1. Re: Disillusion: A Transhuman Space HERO campaign Perhaps I've been sheltered, but I've never heard of HEROCentral. Can someone tell me more about it?
  2. Re: Things you do to acheive immersion Due to a complete lack of players in my area, I haven't actually run any games in quite a while. However, that hasn't stopped me from planning them. For every major NPC, I have Googled an appropriate portrait and written stage directions for myself as to how the character should be played, including a well-known voice to emulate. For instance, I have a ranger NPC who is based in the largest swamp in my world. I have chosen to vocalize him as the famous TV Cajun Cook, Justin Wilson. I also Google scenery shots. It's amazing what you can find on Google with the right search words.
  3. Re: Star Hero fictional settings we haven't seen I prefer riding crops, myself... <_< >_> What?!? That's all I've ever used them for... although I did buy the core books with the intent of actually playing the game. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your POV), I could never find anyone else interested in playing that system.

  5. Re: Daily Art Findings This is some of the best character work I've seen yet. But, I'm not sure I understand your reference to anime. They are definitely NOT anime (or manga).
  6. Re: Chronicles of Gor I have been well and truly amused. Please amuse me again, Master. ~still laughing~
  7. Re: Chronicles of Gor ~still laughing~
  8. Re: Star Hero Campaigns Just for giggles when you're bored on a rainy day.
  9. Re: Chronicles of Gor If I was really really drunk, I might party with those dudes... But, I'd never join 'em.
  10. Re: Star Hero not available in online store? After looking through the entire product line in the online store, I've noticed that there are many titles that are listed as being available but suddenly disappear when you click on the "Buy Now" button. Methinks an update to the listings is looooooooooong overdue!
  11. Re: Chronicles of Gor And, what followed was one of the most erudite rebuttals I have seen in a long long time. Well done! Repped!
  12. Re: Happy Thanksgiving! ~sigh~ I'm afraid my paranoia is severely imbalanced. But, I have the verbosity thing covered... if not quantity, then quality.
  13. Re: Quark! ~looks expectantly towards Michael Surbrook~
  14. Re: Exodus 2025: A campaign idea looking for input!
  15. Re: Happy Thanksgiving! As opposed to the jaded skepticism of the tribal elders...
  16. Re: Role-Playing Exercise #1 ~snicker~ Totally unintentional... but, I'll be happy to take credit!!
  17. Re: Role-Playing Exercise #1 Michael T. "#26" Tucker - Former G-Ball star, lost an eye in his last tournament. Had it replaced with a cyberprosthetic, then had to retire because league rules prohibited any "performance-enhancing" cybernetics. He is never seen without either his old team jersey (in casual surroundings) or his championship medallion (in formal settings). He has an eye for the ladies and never passes up a chance to impress one. He is a guest on the yacht by invitation of the owner (who also owned his former team), and Tucker feels a great sense of loyalty to his old boss (who footed the bill for the prosthetic eye). Contrary to the "dumb jock" stereotype, Tucker is something of a computer savant... a fact he goes to great lengths to hide from the ladies.
  18. Re: Daily Art Findings Ugly, yes... but is he supposed to be upside-down?
  19. Re: Attention GMs... For my part, I like a good mix of things. Just enough combat to keep the bloodlust sated. Just enough puzzling to keep the brain tingling. Just enough danger to make the players worry. And, just enough reward to make it all worthwhile. I want every player to have some involvement. Nobody sleeps during my games! Unfortunately, my last gaming group consisted of 2 prima donnas, one munchkin, and a guy who seemed to be there just to hold a chair down. ~sigh~ Zathras have very sad life. Probably have very sad death... but, at least, there is symmetry.
  20. Re: Fixin' what's broken - switching from d20 to HERO No? What about Life Support: vs. poison, etc.?
  21. Re: Fixin' what's broken - switching from d20 to HERO With a little study, you'll soon come to the conclusion that most of us have... The Hero System is open-ended enough to do damn near anything. Actually, in my opinion, the only game system that comes close is GURPS... and that system is too limited for actual play (although, they have some good source books). I started with Basic D&D, then went to AD&D... then, I found Champions and the original Fantasy Hero. Since that day, I've tried many other games... even gone back to AD&D and, eventually, d20. But, I've always ended up back in the Hero world. Even in my current situation (being nowhere near anyone that actually plays RPGs), I still open my books and practice creating characters, vehicles, spells, equipment, et al. It is my heartfelt wish that, one day, if I've been a very good boy, I may actually be allowed to play again. ~heavy sigh~
  22. Re: Fantasy Adventures Or Why are we always underground...again Indeed! Traveller gets my vote for top character-killing-during-construction. However, for sheer convoluted, Gordian-knot-style, character construction rules... my vote goes to Universe. It literally took me days to create a character with that game.
  23. Re: Daily Art Findings Well, I have to admit... it's a powerful image. But, the guy with the sword seems to be a southpaw. Either that, or we have another "Billy the Kid"-style mistake. I have nothing against lefties... my grandfather was one. But, it would seem to be a liability in a righthand-dominant world... especially when it comes to sword-and-shield combat. Sorry... not trying to derail the thread. Great pic!!
