  1. Re: WBFOTGT&QOBUYGMWYCD: Super-Who Dead Head I would not like them here or there. I would not like them anywhere. I do not like green brains and spam. I do not like them, Mook-I-am.

  3. Re: CKC Dr. Destroyer pic That must've been one hell of a conception & pregnancy....
  4. Re: Zombie Apocalypse! The first Mutants & Masterminds game I ran (*dodges thrown tomatoes*), it was to be "Smallville meets Night of the Living Dead". Meteorites start falling, though most burn up in Earth's atmosphere. A few survive re-entry, and people exposed to them gain superpowers. Unfortunately, after a few days, the meteorite dust from the ones which burned up have spread all throughout the world, seeping into the water table and into any place that wasn't fully air-tight. Which caused the dead to rise (as slow & shambly Romero-esque ghouls), and anyone who died for any reason would also rise as a ghoul. The game went... poorly. I'd decided to let the players play as themselves with powers, and once they got 'em they began acting more selfishly & brutally than even I'd imagined. (one was Superman-Lite, one was Silver Surfer-Lite, one was Graviton-Lite, one was Shadow King-Lite, and one was Morph-Lite.) By the second session, they'd taken over a local McMansion, walled it off, brought in a ton of supplies from a nearby grocery store and pharmacy, and later 'saved' several 'hot chicks' from the surrounding area (which the mentalist 'coerced' into being our 'loyal and grateful girlfriends'). The players then declared that they'd won (one actually used those exact words), nothing I could throw at them could stop them, and suggested starting a new teen hero campaign. I hope yours goes far better than mine!
  5. Re: CKC Dr. Destroyer pic "Chibi-Mechanon will destwoy you all!" "Chibi-Gwond SMASH!"
  6. Re: Skrull vs. Avengers IIRC, Warskrulls were a group of Skrulls enhanced so they could mimic the powers as well as appearance of a subject (so if on mimicked the appearance of Cyclops, it'd gain his Optic Blasts, too).
  7. Re: The Agnstigator Hrrmmm... Dispel (All Divine Powers)? No, that'd be the Atheizer....
  8. Re: Skrull vs. Avengers Yes, retcons a-plenty -- Bendis/Quesada retconned this group into existing (so we could be 'shocked' when they broke up over how Hulk got mistreated), and it was another retcon when we were told that the guy we (the readers) have thought was Black Bolt has really been a Skrull since 1972. (After the Kree-Skrull War ended, the Illuminati went to the Skrull Homeworld and said "attack Earth again, we'll wipe you out." Skrulls captured them & studied them; they eventually broke out, but the Black Bolt who broke out was really a Skrull impostor and has been all this time. No word on what the status of the real Black Bolt is -- hopefully he wasn't still on the Skrull Homeworld when Galactus devoured it.) For the Team of Wolverines, check out the new X-Force -- Warpath, Wolfsbane, Wolverine, and X-23.
  9. Re: Skrull vs. Avengers Sorta both, really. They were retconned into existence in mid-2005 (Bendis created them), but have been here for years (since the end of the Kree-Skrull War, 13 years ago "in-game" time). Black Bolt, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Mister Fantastic, Namor, and Prof. Xavier. They've been working behind the scenes, subtly guiding superhuman affairs (which, to me, sounds more like a supervillain thing to do). They split up over the decision to send Hulk into space (which happened not long after we were first told of thier existence, so Marvel made them just to split them up). They also had a mini-series, where it showed what they'd been doing (in which it was revealed The Beyonder [secret Wars dude] is really just a Mutant Inhuman). Read more about 'em here. I'm not sure I'd say "boring," but definitely powerful and variable. A Super-Skrull with the powers of Captain America (well, his training), Giant-Man, Hulk, Thor and Wasp? You'd have a powerful Brick who could also shift size. A Super-Skrull with the powers of Banshee, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Storm, Sunfire, Thunderbird and Wolverine? A teleporting Brick/Blaster, extremely scary in a fight.
  10. Re: Excalibur? Takes to the sky like a bird in flight, and who would be her captor?
  11. Re: Alien Mysteries of the Champions Universe Someone mentioned wondering where else (aside from Earth) Kelvarite can be found, but I'm wondering something that I don't believe has been asked: Where does Kelvarite come from? Is it some natural non-terrestrial substance? The irradiated remains of an exploded planet? The exploded core of a Progenitor device? The fossilized remnants of an Edomite?
  12. Re: The Forever Man Depending on his mood, Doktor Archeville would either agree, but first ask the boy if he could study him so that he fight find a way to use a lesser version of the kid's ability to help others, then kill him, or he'd just skip the study and kill him? How would he kill him? Well, teleporting him into the Sun should work. Or just teleporting him into outer space, let him suffocate/freeze solid. Or, kill him via some regular method, then when his body turns to ash, but before it regenerates, scoop up the ashes and put them in a sealed box (which can then be shot into outer space, or dropped into the Marianas Trench). Dead Head, however, would be exceedingly curious as to how this kid's doing what he does. He'd try and find out how/why, and along the way try and talk the kid into continuing to live and help others with his unique perspective on history.

  14. Re: Skrull vs. Avengers To expand a bit on what Bloodstone said: The last ish of the Illuminati minseries showed 3 new Super-Skrulls. One with all the powers of the Illuminati -- Black Bolt, Doctor Strange*, Iron Man**, Mister Fantastic, Namor the Sub-Mariner, and Xavier. (He'd been posing as Black Bolt for the past 10 years or so of "in-game" time, too, ever since the end of the Kree/Skrull War [1972]....) He soon got back-up from two other Super-Skrulls, one who seemed Avengers-y (I recall seeing elements of Thor's costume; Bendis said he was a "Classic Avengers" Srull) and one X-Men-y (he had Colossus-like skin and Cyclops-ian optic blasts; Bendis said he was a "Classic X-Men" Skrull... though Colossus wasn't on the Classic Team, he was on the All-New, All-Different team, with Nightcrawler, Storm, Thunderbird, Banshee, Sunfire, and Wolverine). Namor killed the Illuminati-Skrull, and Stark killed the other two Super-Skrulls with a massive explosion. Newsrama interview with Bendis on these new Super-Skrulls * Despite the fact the Skrulls had exiled all their magic-users millennia ago; they became the Dire Wraith. ** From Stark he got the Extremis Nanotech-granted ability to remotely control electronic devices/communications systems.
  15. (Based on an AD&D 2nd Ed. spell) Fluff Text: "This ability/power/spell puts the user and target in a two-way sympathetic link. Any damage inflicted on the user is automatically inflicted on the linked creature as well; should the user die, so too will the linked creature. Conversely, if the linked creature is damaged or hurt, the user will be hurt as well. Armor, Damage Reduction, Damage Resistance, Power Resistance and so on are considered those of the individual attacked -- only the effect is carried over to the partner in the link. The only exception is that if the linked creature dies, the user survives unless enough BODY damage has been received through the ability/power/spell to prove fatal. Both curative and destructive abilities/powers/spells cross the link -- healing one party heals the other." Crunchy Bits: I have no clue how to do this one, other than that it probably involves some form of Transform.
  16. Fluff Text: "This bizarre ray-gun fires a beam of specifically modulated sonic waves that sound not unlike a Kurt Cobain/Nirvana riff. Targets struck are filled with feelings of anxiety, apprehension, and insecurity. Most targets tend to fall into a deep depression and give up, listless and apathetic, mired in feelings of existential loss. Some targets show the opposite effect, though, becoming filled with a nihilistic rage, attacking anyone and anything near them." Crunchy Bits: If not for that last sentence, this would easily be Mind Control Xd6 (Only to Alter/Inflict One Emotional State [sadness; -1], Subject to Range Modifier [-1/4]). That last sentence is what's getting me, though. How can I represent the uncontrolled/unexpected 'flipping' to Mind Control (Anger)? EDIT: Title should be The Angstigator.

  19. Here's what each says in case you can't make it out: Prime: Freedom is the right of all sentient beings, Valentine! Ratchet: I can fix any broken heart, Valentine! Jazz: Let's party in style this Valentine's Day! Bumblebee: I will prove that I am the best Valentine! Barricade: I have been looking for you, Valentine! Blackout: Let's fly high this Valentine's Day! Megatron: I am the greatest Valentine in the universe! Frenzy: Here's to a heavy metal Valentine's Day!

    Organic

Re: Organic As was mentioned, She-Hulk got her powers from a transfusion of her cousin the Hulk's gamma-irradiated blood, and Young Avenger Patriot (Elijah Bradley) got his powers from a transfusion from his grandfather, Isaiah (who was a subject of the first attempts to recreate the Super Soldier Serum that gave Steve Rogers his abilities). Marvel also has Mutant Growth Hormone (MGH, a drug derived from the genetic material of superhumans, granting a temporary version of the powers the 'donor' has), and it's been shown that transplanting organs from Skrulls can give humans shapeshifting powers (as can eating Skrull-cow hamburgers). Over in DC, pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths Superman gave transfusions of his blood left and right, and it often gave people his powers, and one of Supergirls' boyfriends gained powers when she transplanted some of her neurons into him. So, yeah, there's definitely precedent from the comics that blood transfusions and organ transplants can grant powers. As for WMCWD... Doktor Archeville would be split between trying to hook up an artificial brain to the body so the hero can continue on (sorta), or steal the body and work on finding a way to transplant his own mind into it. Dead Head would pull the plug, since there's no soul in the body. He'd probably also seek to hide it, in case some evil necromancer decided to raise it as a loyal undead superpowered minion.
  21. Re: Superhero Universes, A to Z Isn't that part of the DC Universe? Would the Vertigo Universe also be considered part of the DCU? And what about the DC Animated Universe? There's also White Wolf's Aberrant universe (Adventure!/Aberrant/Aeon... er, Trinity), and Arc Dream's Godlike Universe, and Pinnacel Entertainment's Brave New World. You might could throw White Wolf's Scion in there, too.
