  2. Re: Spycraft Style Car Chases (Conversion) You might want to check the OGL for Spycraft material to see what they allow. I know that Spycraft has some OGC material, though.
  3. Re: Aikido throw I personally Like the Martial Arts System in HERO, so I would go with held actions and Martial Throw. Maybe change the v/5 to v/3 (I can't remember what it actually is at the moment) and an option for the Velocity being the attacking character's velocity based off of the power of his maneuver, or somthing, and that velocity is the distance the attacker is 'thrown'. DropBlack, if you are playing a Martial Artist I would very Highly suggest buying the Ultimate Martial Artist (currently available only in PDF format in the online store), for my current Martial Artists it is an invaluable tool.
  4. Re: Choke holds & silence attacks (build help) Thia, You'll have to bust out UMA as that is the only place that they have been published, and probably will be published. BTW, I agree with the Martial maneuver approach vs. the power approach. It signifies what you want, imho, exactally.

Phil, I think what is being said is that + or - 1 standard deviation from the mean for 10d6 is a significantly smaller percentage of the total than that of 2d6, which in statistics means that it is more predictable, because you have a ~70% chance of rolling with in 30.8% of the total, where as with 2d6 you have a ~70% chance of rolling with in 68.8% of the total.

Re: how I do "Feint" maneuver If I were to build a feint maneuver I would probably build it like this Feint: Negative Combat Skill Levels (-1 to opponent's DCV), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (7 Active Points); Requires A Combat Tactics Roll (RSR Skill is subject to Skill vs. Skill contests (Perception); -3/4) Real Cost: 4 This costs 4 points for every -1 to your opponents DCV. Or you could just buy I'm just too Good...: Negative Combat Skill Levels (-1 to opponent's DCV), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), Persistent (+1/2) (10 Active Points) Real Cost: 10 This way all of y our opponents are always at a negative DCV
  8. Re: Regeneration I can't seem to figure it out. While reading the description in 5er pg 187. It doesn't seem as though it has any point value (either as an adder or moddifier). This being the case, i would guess that you just define it as such and then go from there. This gets tricky when you add the regen limit though, as the regen limit automatically provides the standard effect of 1/d6.

  13. Re: KB in games without KB? I thought that the end cost for a NA was 1/10 active points of the NA. so a 15 pt NA would have an End Cost of 1, at x3 it would be 3.

  17. Re: A Focus that can Shrink to be hid. If you take a look at the UMA, weapons bought as a IAF are not obvious when NOT in use. As such a sword where the scabbard is part of a walking stick is an IAF. When it's in use its an OAF, but it is designed as an IAF. So I would make it an IAF and leave it.

Re: martial arts question Stef, Like GA said, in the UMA Steve renamed the Martial Maneuvers (from the list at the front of the book) to coinside with special effects of each particular martial art. The mechanics aren't actually based on the name, except where specifically indicated, they are based on the OCV/DCV Mods and the "Effect" column. So a "Kick" OCV: +1 DCV: -2 Effect: 4d6 Strike is mechanically the same as the maneuver "Offensive Strike" which has those same defined effects, it's just that the SFX is a Kick.
  19. Re: Marital Arts and Str Advantages. There is a section on Adding strength to Advantaged attacks in 5er, I don't have my copy so I can't give you a page number. I believe the rule is Nothing can increase an advantaged attacks TOTAL DC's above 2 x the Original DC. As such, a 5 DC sword with AP, 0 End, (etc.) would be able to be raised to 10 DC through STR + Martial Maneuvers + Martial DC's. If you want to increase above that you would have to buy a Naked Advantage: Armor Piercing for (total AP of Str), with limits for when it can be used. Somone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Since Toula Morn and the Celtic Bestiary aren't due out for a while, I am asking for some help with possible PC races in a Psuedo Celtic campaign Setting (check out Abra Dar at my Homepage). any help would be great. Currently I decided to use the Tolkien inspired Elves, Half Elves, and Humans, though elves aren't immortal. I've also added in Halflings (semistandard from D&D) though I've made some modifications based on the world and my own research. But after that I'm stumped. I would be greatful for any possible help.   22. Re: Super Hero Names What I've done is look through a thesarus and then go to an online language dictionary (I'm currently using Welsh and Japanese) and cross translating. Say get a Japanese translation for a word, then find all the meanings for that word, and then run a different meaning through the Welsh translator. (of course i've been working heavily on a fantasy campaign setting).
