  1. One more thing. I usually do post-production of the figures in Photoshop to give them less of a coloring book feel. Here is a closeup of each of the heads if you prefer something a little larger to work on.
  2. Here are the masks that I already created to give you some idea of the capabilities of the program. I should mention that I can drop any picture into the program and then trace it to recreate that image the problem comes when I try to color things. I doesn't have Photoshop type abilities. It is limited to fill in the polygons with one solid color although hatching and things can be done to simulate to a point.
  3. Ok, this is a png of the *extremely* basic male and female figures from CA. I would like to do much better (non-coloring book) versions of them someday with superhero proportions, and different body types. ie Brick, MA, Flying, etc. Unfortunately my artistic talents are extremely limited. A little background information: Character Artist is a vector based drawing tool ala CAD software so it is fairly limited in the amount of shading it can do so just basic drawings is what I'm looking for. I'll throw up another picture of the masks that I have already created, but promise not to laugh. You comment of "paper dolls" is actually right on the money. Once you have created various props (called symbols) you simply drop them on top of the base figure, and "dress" the character how you want.
  4. Just out of curiousity, there has been mentions of whole body templates, but has anyone attempted partial body templates or even 'clothing' templates? For instance, it might be cool for all you artistically talented, and wonderful folks to do sort of an artists' brainstorm session where you create as many different types of masks, gloves, boots and capes you can think of and draw in say an hour or so, and then throw them on this thread. Then those of us who aren't even remotely as talented could *ehem* borrow the pieces as templates to put together costumes for our own lack of talent costumes. In fact, if any of you have ProFantasy's Character Artist software, I would be willing to take the various clothing samples and recreate them for CA so that you can use them for that software. I realize that it isn't quite on topic, but might be a really cool way for everyone to share ideas and skills to help everyone. What do you all think? Is that something that you artistic types would be willing to try? I'm willing to devote the time to creating the vector redraws of the pieces for CA if it sounds like something folks might want.
  5. WONDERFUL!!!! I would be interested in your PBEM when you start it up by the way. I would like to see how others use SA in an actual game. What part of Sacto are you in? I appreciate your modifications. I like seeing folks think outside the box, and especially when they see the box for what it really is.
  6. Re: San Angelo Just out of curiousity, where do you find the rules discouraging use of the Power Frameworks? I looked through those sections, and didn't see anything in the realm of discouraging their use. I would also like to encourage you to look at the Enemies of San Angelo book. You will see a much more thorough example of characters that have been created. In fact, you can even purchase it here for $8.00!
  7. That was great feed back LL. I'll definitely keep everything you said in mind as I go forward.
  8. Of course, you could always ask the developer. Yes, SA 1.5 is so that the M&M, and Action! crowd can use the older material and see what everyone liked so much. As for your assumption that the original book will be required, I think that would be really lame and unfair to all of you that don't own it. Also, the 1.5 isn't really to freak anyone out so much as to... well you'll figure it out.
  9. Oh reeeeeaaaaallllly? So did any of you see Denizens of San Angelo???? It is the normals book for the San Angelo line. If you did, what did you think of it? Would you all like to see something like that again, or would you rather than be thrown into the various other books?
  10. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that contributed their input, and to let you know that development is proceeding. I'll probably be popping in for more input on certain items as time goes by so as always feel free to give your input and/or ask questions. Thanks again!
  11. Re: re: San Angelo Let's try this again... San Angelo was the first book of its kind for Champions. It was a complete city created and written from the perspective of the inhabitants of that city. Many people have equated it to Astro City if you are at all familiar with the comic series. There are a lot of NPCs and "normal" elements of the city in the book, but everything is also related to the supers that reside there as well. The feeling that I got when I first picked up the book was that it was "real". The city was alive and the supers would have to keep that in mind as they went about their "supering". I am currently working on the second edition of the book. The first has a time line that goes way back to the early Spanish settlements and takes you through 1997. The work I'm doing currently will be updating everything to 2004, and believe me, a lot has changed. Just like our own world in the last 7 years, but imagine our world with supers, that is the world that San Angelo is a part of. There are other books in development for different elements and neighborhoods in the city, and we have a couple other cities in development as well as some foreign country settings. Anyway, I don't want to hijack your thread so I'll stop there. Please feel free to ask more questions or visit the links in my signature to get in on the discussions regarding the new books.
  12. <shamlessplug> You could have characters from the world of San Angelo enter your world through a singularity that manifested itself, or a dimensional rift that opened due to the proximity of the singularity to a leyline, or... </shamlessplug>
  13. Post on the Superhero Images thread, and ask for good or bad comments. I'm sure those artists would be happy to give you some feedback.
  14. Good point actually. How about a Transform assembled to disassembled and visa versa? "I want her working on our assembly line!"
  15. Very well done speedster! *applause* The only thing I'm curious about is the +3 SPD. Her speed is already 10 so is it actually 7? Since the SPD increase costs END and might not be used all the time, perhaps it would be better to not add in the SPD to the primary value? Also, there are a couple typos in the background, but that is just being nit picky. Overall, excellent character.
  16. Very nice drruching! Your use of color and motion within the picture really brings life ot the character. I might make a suggestion regarding your previous post. For those of us that are looking for potential artists for future products it is easier for us to scroll down a page and look at pictures versus clicking on each link. Understanding that some folks have slow modem speeds, I think they are willing to live with the download times besides that, a page will continue downloading as they are reading text and whatnot. Are you familiar with posting the picture in the body? Just in case you don't know here are the instructions I wrote a while ago: 1) Make a post, and attach the picture 2) Click on the link to the picture 3) Copy the URL from the new window that opens with the picture. 4) Edit your post by typing in <img src=" than paste the URL from step 3, and then type "> 5) Submit the edit. There you have it.
  17. Ah yes. You do make some valid points there. We'll see what everyone decides I suppose. Since I don't have much to contribute except oo's and ah's don't listen to my ramblings.
  18. Why not just combine both threads here and start critiquing when people ask for good and bad comments?
  19. Glad to see the HDC files are being included. So when should we expect to start seeing the art work?
  20. I won't ask where the 7 or 9 ball are...
  21. Re: Contrast Just being real picky, but those would be tonfa he's holding, not escrima sticks. Escrima sticks are 2 to 3 foot long hard wood sticks approximately 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter. That being said, excellent color job! I like the effect of the background.
  22. Before this runs off course again, let me state that the Flux is simply a catalyst. We had a big loooooong discussion on the Flux on the San Angelo email list so I don't want to have that same discussion here. If you are interested in what was said, please read the archives for the SACoH group (link at bottom of this message). The original authors had no desire whatsoever to make the Flux anymore than simply the reason that the world of San Angelo is different from our own. In my own campaigns that I ran in San Angelo, I never even mentioned the Flux to the players, and honestly it didn't matter nor was it important to them. I, like most of you wonderfully creative folks, don't ever take what is in game books as the gospel for my games. I use them just like you all do, and that is to get ideas and save me time. It is my hope that SAC0H 2ed will be seen in a similiar light. While all of our material will be based off SACoH as it stands that shouldn't stop you all from using it however you please. I will really endeavor to make sure that there are some integration guidelines in the books for integrating them into various settings/universes/rule sets, but even then I hope you all treat them as guidelines and no matter what HAVE FUN!
  23. Re: San Angelo - Your input Thank you for your replies. I am still looking for the answers to my original post. So please comment on them as well. Here they are as a reminder: With all the new hype and interest in the San Angelo line, I wanted to pick your brains and get some feedback. A while ago I ran a poll asking who had heard of San Angelo and who was using it. What I would like to know is: [*]For those of you who use it, why? [*]For those of you that own, but don't play in the world, why? [*]For those of you that looked at, but decided it wasn't for you, why? [*]For those of you that haven't seen it, are you going to look into it now, and why? [*]For those of you that have no interest in looking at it or using it, why? [/list=1] Feel free to be as brief or detailed as you want. Again, if you would rather not post publicly, shoot me a private message or email.
  24. To get the topic back on track: 1) I've noticed that the vast majority really likes the city and its detail as a whole, but the NPCs in the back of the book leave them dry. True? 2) The NPCs throughout the book are great, but folks would like to see them developed even more. Yes? 3) Folks want to see more Heroes that are intertwined with the city, but still in the background. Correct? 4) Everyone wants the city to be advanced several years. On track? Now a question, do folks want all the details of the city to be kept in the book, or do you want all different stuff? In other words, should we expect everyone to buy the first book to get the information contained therein and put all different information in the second book? Thank you, everyone, for your feedback thus far. Whether positive or negative, it is feedback and I am listening and taking everything you are saying to heart. Thanks!
  25. Something that should be considered in everyone's analysis is that San Angelo was not created with just one city of supers in mind. Read through the book more carefully and you will see references to the rest of the world. There are other books in the line, that were not released for various reasons, that span the globe. Really, San Angelo is just the beginning to a whole wide world of supers.
