  1. Re: How to build: instant learning You don't need every skill concievable. For example, in a 'medieval' fantasy setting, you probably don't need Electronics.
  2. Re: How to build: instant learning Buy every skill that exists in the gameworld. Then apply limits as needed. That's the only way I can see that fits your specifications. It requires GM cooperation, since there is no other way to get a complete list of skills in the gameworld.
  3. Re: Supressing a Disadvantage I would allow a specially built Aid/Succor to remove/decrease a Disadvantage. However, I would also rule that Adjustment Powers affecting Disadvantages are halved as if affecting Defenses.
  4. Re: Transformation I just checked: FReD has the same rule, page 153. 5eR does indeed have more on Spiritual Transform. Basically, Spiritual Transforms can be based on CV or ECV as the creator prefers. As an optional rule, they can be compared to PRE rather than Body. I think he had the typical comic book demon in mind. For what it's worth.
  5. Re: Transformation The rule I'm referring to is on page 238 of 5ER. It reads, in part: "To Transform more than one trait (for example, changing a man into a demon, which affects his Body and his Spirit), a character must buy two or more Linked Transforms."
  6. Re: Transformation Neither. I am talking about the prohibition on a Transform on one category affecting anything that fits another category. Especially with the lack of advice on what counts as which category. Does PRE count as Physical, Mental, Spiritual, or some of each? Apparently the GM is supposed to make an ad-hoc decision on the spot.
  7. Re: Transformation I recommend dumping the physical/mental/spiritual Transformation rule. This avoids a lot of trouble. This rule may be intended to serve some purpose, but I doubt its worth the hassle.
  8. Re: Draining SPD to Zero If you don't like the rule, you can house-rule it away. But that is the official rule. Has been since UAA was introduced in 4th Edition. Personally, I consider UAA overpowerful as it is.
  9. Re: Draining SPD to Zero 5ER, page 275: "The character must define a reasonable common set of defenses that cancels out the attack. For example, Flight UAA might not work against any character who had Flight, Desolidification, or Power Defense." In other words it functions as and NND defence.
  10. Re: Help with an odd Time Power I would advise against allowing the ability. The player knowledge/character knowledge issues would be a serious GM headache.
  11. Re: Alternate SPD Chart A house rule I am considering is: All characters must have a SPEED rating of either 2 or 4. PC's need special GM permission to have a SPEED of 2.
  12. Re: A couple of how to questions For the 'grab any foci' I would use Teleport, usable against others, foci only, other modifiers I'm too tired to think of right now.
  13. Re: Newbie Question: How Long Should It Take.... If you need the character for a game, it should be done before the game starts. If you are creating the character for fun, keep going as long as it's fun.
  14. Re: Alternate Initiative Rolls I use by INT, if tied then by SPEED, if still tied then by DEX, if still tied then by PRE, if still tied then by EGO, if still tied then by COM, if still tied then by CON, if still tied then simultaneous.
  15. Re: New Player Hates All The Dice You could allow her to take Standard Effect on all her Powers.
  16. Re: Reasoning from effect or vice versa? Nope. V&V method is 'Randomly roll Powers without regard to whether anyone wants to use them; special effects are as rolled, without regard to consistency.'
  17. If you are using the optional speed change rule and there is no segment on which both speed ratings act, when is the character's next phase? (For example, assume a character in a special purpose Multiform with 1 speed gets attacked, and changes into the speed 4 base form.
  18. Re: Leadership Powers Overall Skill Levels, Usable By Others, At Range.
  19. Re: Communication - interception and impersonation Tapping phone lines and using a voice changer would probably be Systems Operation skill. The brian wave bit would be Darkness (mental sense group) to block the communications, Telepathy to know what they were thinking, and Images (mental sense group) to send disguised messages.
  20. Re: Adjustment powers caps Pages 106-107.
  21. Re: Adjustment powers caps But only if you also dropped the power caps, which I was not suggesting. This was intended as an alternative way of reducing bookkeeping.
