  2. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? Makes sense. How about some of the newer tech that has come up or been tested since DC 5e was published? I mean stuff such as Heat Rays, Rail Guns, Remote Controlled Drones, Laser-Mounts for Jet Aircraft - that kinda stuff. True, they could be covered in SH instead, but their context makes them a better fit for Military Action and Technothriller games; plus, they're stronger and none of them are handheld like SH presents them.

  4. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? Okay... *slumps shoulders* But yeah, I figured it was worth a shot. Anyways... What about relative price ranges for various equipment?
  5. Re: My character building technique (How to build Hero System Characters) My cell phone's browser doesn't let me rep, but know that there's more coming.
  6. Re: My character building technique (How to build Hero System Characters) Reminds me of when Susano posted his methods. I'll be saving this info too. Thanks for sharing, Tasha.
  7. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? Also, I like that you'll add 19th century tech to HSEG, Mr. Long. Even though you said that there won't be a Victorian nor Western HERO game, I hope that you "backdoor" them in places where you can like this. In fact, what if you slipped some Victorian/Western genre and history into a 6e Pulp HERO book (if you write one), since Pulp-era equipment will be in HSEG now?
  8. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? Perhaps. Now that you mention it, perhaps a single paragraph per special effect could work. A paragraph or so on how Steampunk tech works, one on Dieselpunk, one on Clockpunk, one on spy gadgets, etc, as well as how to possibly translate that from any thereafter equipment could go a long way for demonstrating HERO's flexibility and allowing HSEG to have more equipment than the sum of its entries. That reminds me of how I brought up spy gadgets earlier. I think that "Inobvious Foci" suggestions for equipment entries throughout HSEG would be cool. Come to think of it, could "Inaccessible Foci" suggestions be equally interesting?
  9. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? What if HSEG had a section like Pulp HERO's "Weird Science" but dedicated to Steam/Diesel/Clockpunk? Thing is, a lot of Steam/Diesel/Clockwork Punk equipment really is a matter of SFX. So what if such a section didn't list very many original builds so much as it refers to others and simply "converted the SFX?" Alternatively, what if many individual equipment entries suggested Steampunk, Dieselpunk, Clockpunk, and/or Weird Science SFX alternatives under "Options?" where appropriate?
  10. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? That reminds me: does Fantasy HERO 6E reprint all the ancient weapons from 5e, or were they saved for HSEG? I ask because I got to thinking about flails the other day and how 6E allows them to be built more simply than in 5E. Stretching is now bought by the meter rather than inch, so what if a flail's Reach is bought without the "Always Direct" nor the "No Velocity Damage" Power Limitations? Wouldn't that be simpler than the Indirect Advantaged build we had before?
  11. Re: Technologically advanced Neanderthals? Discussions like this make me wish we could clone a Neanderthal. Last I checked, the genome is too deteriorated to do so.
  12. Re: Technologically advanced Neanderthals? I also wonder if early Sapiens had a faster gestation period than Neanderthals. A faster rate of reproduction would mean that populations could grow more quickly, and thus the need for more resources.
  13. Re: Technologically advanced Neanderthals? Speaking of needing to eat less, evidence points to Neanderthals having a far more carnivorous diet than Sapiens. I think that our more omnivorous diet was helpful to survival. I forget, which happened first: the extinction of Neanderthals or the development of agriculture?
  14. Re: Revisit: Doc savage vs Batman. I changed my mind. I find part of the problem is pinning down which exact Doc Savage is fighting which exact Batman. If it's The Bat-Man, then I totally side with Doc, but if it's Batman, say, now, then I find myself hardpressed to side against the Dark Knight.
  15. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? A.I.'s maybe, but I posted this from a cell phone . And what about Technothriller Dark Champions games? Even though Automatons are nixed, I think that a gun turret could make for an interesting Automaton build that isn't just another zombie or robot.
  16. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? Come to think of it, if there are any Computer writeups, there may as well be some A.I.'s.
  17. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? Some example Automatons and Computers would be nice. Perhaps a Computer example per Computer Programming subcategory. Furthermore, since Computers are character builds, what if there were a few basic examples and then some Templates that could be added for modifying them?
  18. Re: Complicate the Person Above Cancer found missing children on milk cartons twice before. Both times they were farting around with his garden gnomes too.
  19. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? What about a list of slasher movie weapons? A knife glove (A Nightmare on Elm Street), hooked chains (Hellraiser), a chainsaw (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre/ Evil Dead Trilogy) are all weapons that could bear writeups IMO. Speaking of knife gloves, I seem to recall an ancient Indian weapon that was pretty similar.
  20. Re: Complicate the Person Above Darbor harbors a barber in Ann Arbor.
  21. Re: A character focused on EGO. More or less this, but I'll throw out some ideas: - Extra END and/or STUN that represents stamina derived from sheer willpower. An Aid may work just as well here. - Damage Reduction, probably versus STUN to ignore pain from attacks. - Various forms of life support because the character almost wills himself into immunity - "Extra Push" abilities - HA dice with a backlashing side effect - the character punches harder by ignoring his fists' pain - Drain OCV and/or DCV - The character's sheer persistence gives them a slow but sure advantage in combat - Character probably has few, if any Psychological Complications - Some DMCV should help - Extra CON that RAR to represent a high pain threshold - Staredown ability - a RAR that's EGO Roll vs. EGO Roll to various effects That's just off the top of my head. Hope I helped. That said, I once designed a character around a high PRE; he's fun to play.
  22. Re: THE HERO SYSTEM EQUIPMENT GUIDE -- What Would *You* Like To See? Fair enough. What will the extent of Sci-Fi weapons be in HSEG? What if there were reprints of Terran Empire equipment in addition to Spacer's Toolkit entries?
  23. Re: Complicate the Person Above Darbor knows of three other imaginary numbers besides i, but their purposes are sinister.
