  8. This idea, while not my original creation, is one I have seen used in other places, which I thought would be fun. Rather than asking a question and having others post the answer, then another question - you post an answer, somebody provided the question, then gives another question. Kinda like Jeapordy. One other thing, the answers & questions are not meant to be taken to seriously - let your imagination soar. Let me give a few past examples to get things started. Answer: 97.5 Question: What is the aprroximate size, in astronomical units, of Bill Clinton's libido? Answer: Prof. Plum, in the study, with the rope. Question: What is only slightly less kinky than Ms. Scarlet, in the bedroom with the candlestick. Answer: A Canadian Moose, but not George W. Bush. Question: Out of this pair, who is more likely to know the Capital of Canada? Ok, then. Let us get started with the question for this answer: Answer: Orcs, Elves and Donald Duck.
  9. So far we have: 1) Standard EB 2) Laser RKA 3) Flash 4) Missile Deflection (I always liked this one for projectors) Other Ideas: if this guy has powers based on magic, he can get creative with his uses of solar energy, like an Entangle made of solar flares (they don;t hurt, they just look lethal). One light-based energy projector in our games has a Mental Entangle with the SFX being hypnotic lights. An NND bought as an Itense Heat Beam also works- the defense being Life Support vs Heat, of course. Heat and Light also lend themselves to Dispel/Supress powers vs Cold and/or Darkness powers. And somewhere, whether or not its in the multipower, this character is just screaming for Images bought for generating light.
  10. In our Saturday D&D game, one of our players is a wizard who has fallen in love with the spell Phantasmal Killer. For those of you who don't know, this spell can kill you instantly if you fail 2 saving throws: one WILL save to deisbelieve the illusion, the second a FORTitude save to avoid dying of a heart attack. Anyway, I could never figure out why he loves this spell so much, because it had never worked, not even once. The last straw came when they were fighting a band of 3rd level orcs. He couldn't even get the spell to work on an orc under the effects of Confusion. I made a crack about his repeated casting's of Phantasmal Failure. Wizard: Did you just call it Phantasmal "Failure"? DM: Yep. Wizard: I want to be angry, but that's so damn funny... The spell has now picked up all sort of permutations on that theme, Phandismal Failure being the most recent. It's now a grudge for him: he will continue to memorize it and use it until it works at least one - even if it has to be against a paraplegic kobold with typhoid.
  11. Re: We meet agian Mr.Hermit As opposed to a real imposter?
  12. I've always been partial to NND attacks for electricity users, the defense being Mental Defenses. The effect: you use an electrical current to cause the target's brain synapses to fire wildly, and those with the proper mental discipline can shake it off. Super-Static Spark: 1d6 RKA (15 points), x2 Penetrating (+1) Indirect (+3/4) (Total = 41 active points). For those times you absolutely, positively need to damage something, you generate a powerful static field about the target and watch it fry. The perfect thing for busting foci or destroying robots.
  13. I think DC really screwed the pooch with Hypertime. After all that troublwe they went through with Crisis to clean up the continuity and endless parallel orlds - they went and recreated the same mess. Eleseworlds is the perfect vehicle for telling stories of the DC characters in alternate settings without touching the "true" continutiy or timeline.
  14. That would be Ironthighs, a brick in my campaign. She's big, beefy, and not very pretty. She got picked on in school and was calle "Ironthighs". That was the name the press stuck her with when she went on her first rampage. She keeps trying to become known as Ironsides, it just never works that way. Everyone knows that calling her "Ironthighs" pisses her off and causes her to go Enraged (and thus fight less effectively) so the name never gets dropped. But as my players can tell you, she is tough. rPD 40, rED 35, all hardened, and STR 80 with double knockback doesn't suck - unless you're on the receiving end, of course.
  15. Wonderful writeups, Hermit. I may stea... er... borrow them myself
  16. Relax. I'm sure a good few quotes will pop up in tonight's game. After all, Burns will be there...
  17. Re: Re: Re: Re: Breaking Personality Stereotypes for the Archetypes As a long-time GM, it is my experience that there is no such thing as being too mean to the players. Especially if the cruelty makes sense in context, is not arbitrary, and makes for a more interesting story.
  18. Re: Re: Breaking Personality Stereotypes for the Archetypes I really love the robot/mystic mix. Normally, magic is portrayed as being anti-tech and the two just don't mix. If this doesn't turn both stereotypes on their head, I don't know what else does.
  19. Your last question is a good one. I think another good question is: Can somebody with the appropriate power turn this thing off? Someone with the right Drain or Suppress could deprive Cyclops of his always-on eyebeams, for example.
  20. I can't wait to see what the HoJ will look like in 5th Edition. I mean, just look at the upgrade Dr. Destroyer got...
  21. Re: Segmented Movement Think of a hang-glider. Gliding is essentially non-powered flight. You can stay up for a while, but without the proper wind currents and updrafts, you will eventually have to land. You also need some serious altitude first, as it is much tougher to go up than down when gliding. Don't worry about segmented movement (your GM will handle those details) and only vehicles need to worry about stall-speed.
  22. But it is the ACTIVE point cost which gives a truer measure of the value of the power. In my book, if the APC of an Invulnerability power is less than 75% RDR something is wrong. If Invulnerability is cheaper than 75% RDR after applying the same Limitations to it, something is still wrong. Getting more should cost you more. Always.
  23. I'm not entirely happy with it either, but I think it just doesn't make sense to me that a DEF 4 BODY 8 object will do the same amount of damage to the target regardless of whether it was swung/thrown by Ogre, Grond, Superman or the Hulk. The stronger bricks should be doing more damage with it because they are... well... stronger.
