zslane reacted to Ternaugh in DC Movies- if at first you don't succeed...
While we can hope for a brighter take on Superman, I'm afraid that we'll find out that it's just lens-flare.

Well, J.J. Abrams kinda ruined Star Trek and Star Wars. This does not bode well for the tattered remnants of the DCEU. Everyone, including Warner Brothers, should just dispense with the idea that there is, or ever will be, a single cohesive DC cinematic universe. Without a WB/DC equivalent to Kevin Feige it's just not gonna happen. And no, a loosely (barely) connected collection of superhero movies do not a cinematic universe make. WB/DC would be better off just sticking to what they do best: animated tv shows and video game licensing, and leave the cinematic universes to the professionals.

I think you mean Fox.
All other observations are factual.

Somehow I doubt anyone is going to be in a rush to pat Iger on the back for being more "woke" than Perlmutter, except maybe Iger himself (and whatever team of suckups he's surrounded himself with over at Disney).

There's no denying that Perlmutter and Loeb are both sub-par hacks as producers go, but the tweet from MCU Direct makes it all about how they put up roadblocks to Black Panther and Capt. Marvel, painting Iger as the woke hero of Marvel's diversity push. The fact that it was a tweet could be partly responsible for that (not much room to elaborate), but I think they put the focus exactly where they wanted regardless.

I think it would be trivial to make an adaptation of Starship Troopers that had no pro-fascist agenda lurking in the background, particularly since that's not in the book to begin with. And I think the Iron Man movies showed how to put your star actors in powered armor without losing the ability to see their faces and their emotions.

There are. If you want to read Starship Troopers yiu need a copy from the 70's. After that each version seems to drift until the last few versions seem to support the political views of the movie.
I did a side by side of a few key chapters back in 02 or 03ish and was fairly shocked at the blatant editorializing when they "modernized" the book for understanding. But heck, in the last ten years fascism magically migrated from left to right, so what do I know....

Let's be fair. When the movie came out there was no internet to complain on and today 99% don't read books and probably wouldn't watch the movie because is was not in color.

Good list. The worst of the bunch was Starship Troopers. Beyond horrible.
I am aware of the claim it was a parody. But Veer'idiots serious concept of any military or police is a parody of the real word anyway. So at best itcwas a parody of a parody. I've watched the show multiple times, and as Operation Bughunt. But Starship Troopers it is not.
John Carter was just a miss. They did a lot right (creature effects and such) but it could have been much better if they bothered to read the books. Or if they did read them, a reading comprehension class is recommended.
FF and DP were just meh. If they made new versions no one would probably realize another version existed.

I would like to see a remake of Starship Troopers that wasn't a complete middle finger to the original book.
As far as The Princess Bride is concerned, I think anyone who suggests a remake should be put into the Zoo of Death.
(It's possible that I'm a little opinionated where these movies are concerned.)

Oh, there are thousands of other ways the ending of GOT could have sucked. In truth the ways to write something well are the tiny minority of options.

Well, I consider such an allegorical story from Plato to be the equivalent of a folklore/mythology mashup. I put the story of Atlantis in the same category as Arthurian legend, which is to say folklore/myth. Scholars are of course free to quibble with my terminology, but I think everyone grasps what I mean.

If he's going to wear full-body armor, though, his face ought to be covered too.

I support the idea of a Discord for Hero System/Champions players to chat in real-time. These forums are invaluable for long-form discussions where you want the content to be searchable and to endure for years. A Discord is good for casual conversation where anything said doesn't need to last any longer than the few minutes it will remain on screen before getting scrolled off by newer comments.

I agree. Justice Inc. is a real gem. However, I can understand the impulse to leave it shrinkwrapped for its collectibility. I have a copy of Espionage! still in shrinkwrap and I wish I had a shrinkwrapped Justice Inc. to go with it!

Indeed. So how did the game go from being one in which creating characters could become an addicting activity after just one read-through of the rulebook to one in which "newbies" can't even begin to wrap their heads around it? As you say, basic process hasn't changed. But what has changed is the way the rules are written/presented. And therein lies the problem, I believe.
Maybe the more streamlined Complete edition(s) of the rules will help bring the presentation of the rules to something more manageable for newbies.

Victor Von Doom is one of the most complex, compelling villains in comics IMHO. He could easily support a limited series. But Marvel would have to carefully consider how they want to fit the Fantastic Four to this version of him. They're so inextricably linked, you can't do a proper Dr. Doom without at least referencing the FF.
