  3. Re: WWYCD: Hero with "Questionable" Political Views Terminus wouldn't have any problem working with people with weird political ideas. Heck, he has a few screwy ones himself (little things like "national soverieignty is less important than individual happiness", things like that). As long as the guy acts like a hero, he gets treated as a hero.
  4. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... One from Weldun's game and one from mine: GM (Weldun): "You wake up and find yourself awar of a deep sense of Foreboding." Zero: "Nothing abnormal there then." and from mine: The team is about to go to a dimension where clothing is considered entirely cosmetic, and it is considered normal to expose one's sexual characteristics. Upon hearing that Vitus is going to wear apropriate garb for the society they'll be visiting, Felicity blurts out "Okay, you won't stick out much." Every other player bursts out laughing, and Felicity's player slapped herforehead as she realised what she'd just said...

  6. Re: WWYCD: Lost in a world without Supers; 9/11/2001 Maybe. But he's also consistant. He attempts to broker peace in both The Silurians and The Sea Devils, successfully does so between the Earth Empire and Draconians despite the Dalek attempt to scupper it, strives mightily for the lives of the Mutants in the eponymous episode...The Doctor may destroy, but it is never his first choice of action. I say that makes him More of a hero, not less.
  7. Re: WWYCD: The rest of the world's Supers just changed sex. Terminus would be both amused and concerned. The main thing he'd be worried about is whether his GF still liked him. AS for the rituals - if it was necessary, He'd spend the rest of his life as a female - on his world, sexual bias had pretty much disappeared. But he;d prefer to remain the gender he undertands best.
  8. Re: How effective do you feel weapons should be Hand weapons run into the problem of energy density. Basically, the chemical-kinetic guns we use today are about as efficient as we can do for hand weapons. More power would require greater energy density, resulting in either A) greater recoil or more heat production. Dealing with either will result in a heavier gun. The problem is, our most powerful handweapons are close to the max on all three - weight, recoil and heat. From here on, improvements in hand weapon technology will be governed by efficiency. The more efficient weapon will be the more powerful, because more of the energy will be used rather than wasted. I suspect the actual result wil be a cheat - give the soldier a gun he can only use while wearing his tactical battle armour. Eliminate the weak link - which is, in this case, what the human can handle.
  9. Re: Your Character: The Series (Not exactly WWYCD...) Terminus would be the name of the show as well as the main character. I'd see it as a combination X-Files paranoia piece (who knows when the Disruption will rear it's ugly head? Who have they compromised?) and straight action. It would definitely be MA (lots of people getting killed, often in gruesome ways, some sex) and probably be made by either Sci-Fi or HBO. Oh, and definitely live action.
  10. Re: WWYCD: The Breakup Hmm...Terminus doesn't really have much experience at this sort of thing. He's used to having girlfriends who can take him two falls out of three on the sparring mat (and considering he's supersoldier with a Dex of 30, that's saying something). He'd probably just try to talk the guy out of it. Try and get the poor guy's rationality back in charge.
  11. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Really? [Mr Burns] Excellent! [/Mr Burns]
  12. Re: Interplanetary colonies Doesn't matter what the sentence is. Many Australian transportees served sentences of five years or less; they were then free, but banned from ever returning to England. They could stay in Oz, go to NZ, or the States, if they had the money, but not back to England. It was part of the sentence. Our hypothetical 'involuntary colonists' could simply be banned from returning to Earth, regardless of actual length of sentence.
  13. Re: Old Shotgun Question It was a modded Winchester, not sure of the Model. The original's an early pump action, but they wanted the cool lever-action style, so their on-site gun captain switched the feed with a Winchester .45 rifle. They used Squibs instead of blanks whenever Arnie fired.
  14. Re: name this gadget! The Swiss-staff.
  15. Re: Help me brainstorm a disaster! One engine of the plane disconnects and falls into the street. While the anti-fire systems work as advertised, the impact of several tonnes of engine smashes through into a section of the Seattle Underground. You have a bunch of pedestrians and people in cars fallen into the hole, holding onto rubble, balanced precariously on the edge, etc. Plus, the edges of the hole are not structurally sound, so if you're not careful you're going to be part of the problem instead of the solution...
  16. Re: Interplanetary colonies Great! Now we have a baseline we can work with. Having taken another look at the British convict transportation system, I've also noticed something I'd forgotten: They had an additional reason to do it. British prisons were terribly overcrowded, to the point of their having to use decommissioned naval hulls as "prison hulks". Just shows economics isn't everything.
  17. Re: CHAMPIONS UNIVERSE II - What Do You Want To See? I just want the writeups for the other supergroups, like the Sentinels and Justice Squadron. They'd be very helpful for those "crossover" episodes.
  18. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Dr. Heckyll & Mr. Jive - Men at Work.
  19. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... My fortnightly game was last night: Avatar: "I don't want to be responsible for taking down the city's powergrid." Chorus of other PC's: "Again!" Later, when Foxbat has appeared on the scene while we are fighting a desoldified energy vampire: Trawler (Party Brick, no energy attacks): "He'll probably be more effective than me in this situation." (NB: He wasn't.) As my character, Terminus, reaches terminal velocity, falling towards a concret roof: Miss Chaos on why to save Terminus: "Funerals are cheap, property damage is expensive." I'm going to get her for that one...

  21. Re: WWYCD: Daughter Of The Shadow Lord... Well, Terminus has no particular beef with Terror'Khan, so he'd just go about arresting the cultists and saving the other girl. He'd probably ask if Khan wants to take Amy home or does he want Terminus to do it? Provided Khan isn't doing something harmful, Terminus isn't going to be judgemental about his family affairs.
  22. Re: WWYCD - The Night of the Dead To understand Terminus' visitor, you'd need some background. On his world, the Earth Directorate created a variety of enhanced humans to help in their job of running the world (the ED was a World Government, replacing the UN in our world, but much more powerful). The various types of enhanced human were known by the colours of their uniforms. Silvers were Security, Greens were rangers and ecologicians, Reds were Medical, Blues were Scientists, Yellows were empathic TruthTellers. At the beginning of the war with the Disruption, an organization dedicated to the destruction of the ED, two more colours were added: Blacks, also known as Terminus Soldiers, the first true warriors produced (silvers wre more investigators) and Whites, Precognitives, intended as advisors for the ED Directorates. This last group was brought into existence amidst great fanfare, and was said to presage a new Golden Age for humanity. Needless to say, the Disruption saw the Whites as their greatest threat. They began a campaign of assassination against those already decanted, and destroyed the only facility capable of making such major alterations to the genome. Terminus, on his fiirst mission, was part of a team that was supposed to escort the last White, a twelve year old girl not yet come into her powers, from the ruins of Paris to a safe facility in Switzerland. They came under attack at the remains of the Eiffel Tower. Terminus was the only survivor, and was forced to watch when the Red Cyborg, one of the Disruption's top operatives, eviscerated her. It would be that little girl who would come to Terminus. Her death has haunted him for all of his life, and he would take the opportunity to ask her forgiveness as the greatest of gifts.
