  1. Re: List of Forum Members - Super Teams & Members If you're talking about the JLA/Avengers of the world, you really need to post Watchtower. I'd do it, but I'm not sure I can remember everyone...
  2. Re: adventure ideas? Here's an idea, if we're talking about powered armor and such: Some high-tech villain or organization has finally had it with the heroes' interference. They put all their plans on hold while they develop and execute a plan that will not only keep the heroes out of their hair, but local law enforcement, too. They design and build robots whose appearance, powers, tactics, and special effects mimic those of the heroes perfectly (or almost perfectly, well enough to fool all but the most observant investigative reporters and cops, anyway). Then they turn the robots loose on the city, and a highly publicized crime wave ensues. Eyewitnesses testify that it's the heroes who are doing all the plundering: "I know it's Metal Man! He was using the same solar blast I saw him take out all those VIPER agents with at City Hall last spring!" Obviously, with both the police and the press after them, the heroes can't go out in costume until this situation is resolved.

  4. Re: Character: Socially Conscious Man! So SCM sees politicians' penchant for talking out of their backsides as a right? I guess it must be...there are certainly enough of them doing it, and none of them are getting arrested. So, basically, SCM expects the public to be educated and vigilant, and elected officials to be honest and accountable. Yeah, lemme know how that works out for ya. /cynic
  5. Re: Character: Socially Conscious Man! SCM's writeup looks good, but you forgot a couple of things: Rep: Invented the Internet Perk: Has an Oscar Socially Conscious Man IS Al Gore, right...?
  6. Re: UNTIL Uniforms - Now I know why they BUG me so much.
  7. Re: matchmaker for masks? First off, I have to say that the number of folks scoring Aurora here has me worried. Seriously worried. Having said that, it looks like I'll be hooking up with Lois Lane. Ororo and Kitty are my back-ups.
  8. Re: UNTIL Uniforms - Now I know why they BUG me so much. And for that matter, I wondered why they even bothered to keep the name "Starship Troopers". Think about it. If they had just changed the title and some of the character and location names, they could have made the movie and not had to pay any royalties, because the Heinlein estate would have had no idea that it was based on anything he'd ever written. /rant
  9. Re: UNTIL Uniforms - Now I know why they BUG me so much. Those stupid helmets showed up on B5 security personnel too. Bleh.
  10. Re: Help me with a villian And if the Iron Angel / Arc Angel name thing is still a problem, you might go with Iron Eagle. Just a thought.
  11. Re: Help me with a villian May I humbly recommend someone like this: * Martial Artist - It's one of the most common archetypes not accounted for in the group so far * High EGO and PRE - Necessary to keep the others in line and useful for inspiring them to new heights in villainy * Tactical skills - Someone's got to be the brains of this outfit, and it doesn't look like Wardog's gonna cut it Put all of that together, and you come out with something like a villainous version of Captain America.
  12. Re: Signs your Champions GM is now (fill in the blank)
  13. Re: WWYCD: Dependent no more Not true. You have 40 or so DNPCs. You just don't get any points for them.
  14. Re: Sonof Secret Origins! When did you start reading superhero comics? The very first comic book I ever bought was in 1983: Uncanny X-Men #173. Great fight scene between Wolverine and Silver Samurai.
  15. Re: Signs your Champions GM is now (fill in the blank) Absa-fraggin'-lutely no objections. Do it. And post the link here.
  16. Re: Best SuperHero Fights ever I'm partial to the alley fight in Watchmen #3. Laurie (Silk Spectre), still emotional and upset about Dr. Manhattan, and Dan (Night Owl), feeling a little flustered by Laurie's arrival a few minutes earlier, get cornered by a street gang in a dark alley. Boy, did that gang ever pick the wrong two people to mug. The fight is made better by the fact that fight scenes are intermixed with scenes from a television program where Dr. Manhattan gets ambushed with accusations that he's been causing cancer in everyone close to him. So there are really two ambushes going on at the same time. Great scene.
  17. Re: Richest Man in the World Disease I want a copy of that Billionaires & Businessmen genre book...as long as it's not prohibitively expensive!
  18. Re: "Back when I started playing Champions...." I've never even seen it, and I already like it. Repped.
  19. Re: "Back when I started playing Champions...." Excellent point. Repped.
  20. Re: [Campaign] The Dreamwalkers I'm really looking forward to playing in this campaign. Been a long time since I've done Fantasy. I'd Rep you for all your hard work, were it not for that pesky "You must spread" thing.
  21. Re: Best SuperHero Fights ever My favorite Secret Wars fight was Spidey vs. Titania. One line summed it all up: "Oh, and if we were fighting in a broom closet, that'd be fair?" So nice to see somebody winning with tactics!
  22. Re: Best SuperHero Fights ever Yeah, Hades was really regretting the DNPC points he got for Persophone on that occasion. Great stuff!
  23. It's not hard to picture the scene. A group of older people--geezers, you might even call them--are sitting around talking about the way things were "back in the day". Now, imagine that these geezers are actually Champions players from the old school--and I do mean the Olde School. You might hear things like these: "Back when I started playing Champions, you couldn't buy new books from a gaming store. If you wanted a new book, you had to wait for some monk to copy it by hand for you." "Back when I started playing Champions, we kept track of our stats with Roman numerals. It was fun, until we had to fight the villain with the CXX Strength." "Back when I started playing Champions, we used miniature figures made of iridium. The stuff was just lying around back then." You get the picture. So tell me, what was it like back when you started playing Champions?
  24. Re: Signs your Champions GM is now (fill in the blank) I could live with all-Rush background music, but no Moving Pictures? Out of the question. Apparently I've played in this campaign.....
