Pattern Ghost

One thing to consider in this: Even if she believed she was part Native American sincerely, as a law professor she should have damned well been aware that checking off her race on a government form is attesting that one is a member of a tribe. Harvard Law represented her in its reports to the government as a Native American for six years running. She claims that she didn't know about this, but when she checked the box to apply as a law professor (not a student entering college, but as someone already versed in the law), she should have known. The only explanations for this are that she was acting in ignorance (unlikely, she seems to be highly capable), or to take advantage of her heritage without meeting the legal requirements.

Again, this isn't about Trump. That's a facetious argument. It's whataboutism.
 
Go back and read my posts without reading into them as if I'm the media or representing the media. There is NOTHING that makes Warren in the right in this. And what she has done is far from harmless. The tribes have a very legitimate beef with her, as pointed out in an earlier article which you apparently either didn't read or disregarded.
 
You need to quit beating the "Trump is worse" drum in defense of Warren. Nobody's picking on Warren. She put herself into this situation.

Yeah, I just did the same and it is a list of some of my favorite titles over the last few years... Ms. Marvel, Daredevil, All-New Hawkeye, Carol Corps (the best Carol Danvers portrayal of the recent runs), etc.

I have a sneaking fondness for The Sword and the Sorcerer. Not that good, but some cool visual moments, and that sword could have been designed by Q.

Haven't had time to read it. It looks like the question they're fact checking is whether she used it go get the Harvard job. The Harvard gig is only one of her transgressions, though. Native Americans still face a lot of persecution and unfair treatment, but are often forgotten about because of their small numbers. Had Warren claimed to be black, she'd be facing a lot more heat, I think.
 
Warren should be deeply ashamed of herself, IMO.
 

My wife is Choctaw, the last generation which would allow a family member to qualify for membership in the tribe. I encouraged her to file the appropriate paperwork since she's interested but she's afraid they'd think she was money-grubbing for a cut of casino cash.
 
I get peeved at people like Warren. There's just no excuse, in my opinion.

I'm kind of annoyed by Warren lately. The whole putting "Native American" down as her race to gain advantage thing rubs me the wrong way. Pretending like she didn't know she wasn't supposed to put that on paperwork without a tribal affiliation given her education level really rubs me the wrong way. Then again, I should probably stopped hoping for any semblance of honesty from any politician a long time ago.

We should just skip all of the aging out nonsense, and cast Helen Mirren. 

It doesn't "have to be" (those are your words and show up nowhere in the article) but it is certainly a reason to be considered. The merit of an artistic work is as much the message it is conveying as the technique and craftsmanship in producing the message as well sa the artfulness and effectiveness of presenting that message. How that art transforms (the whole point of art) is absolutely worth considering.

While the above may be true, I don't think that is a reason to give the movie a Best Picture Oscar. It is a reason to give it a Socio-Political Awareness Award, if Hollywood ever invents one, but not a Best Picture Oscar.
 
I feel that in the race to turn everything political, including all of our entertainment, Hollywood is forgetting that the vast majority of the time movies are simply that: entertainment, and not some grand platform for social change. If a movie has to be the celluloid equivalent of a Nelson Mandela to win an Oscar, then the entire industry is headed for a crash worthy of the Daytona 500.

Doom Patrol's the closest comparison. Saw a video on it saying the creator was directly inspired by DP.
