  1. For a one shot bored-lets-run-something-starting-in-30-minutes game we were allowed to bring any character we had ready in 30 minutes. I brought a standard brick, but one of the other players had a guy who absorbed 1d6 of electricity and turned it into Aids to Stats and Defenses. We started off in Europe with that one guy rampaging around, Destroyer? Just mindless destruction. Anyway. Aid Boy heads for the nearest high power lines and sticks it in his mouth. He bought the power standard. Not Resistant and had nothing at all to deal with the remainder of the multiple d6 KA.
  2. Gore is a robot, everyone knows that. But can a robot become President.
  3. I did that once using a Godzilla toy. This is much better.
  4. MAYDAY starts reading the aliens mind for Truth while trying to keep him alive. Defends him from further attack if necessary, if she can. Hiding him would be even better though. Finds a place to take him to safety and nurse him to health, find out all she can from him and disseminate it the French government, online to the heroes she knows and to news outlets. Use Carmen's contact's to find out how true this might be and start finding out who close to the VP is VIPER and who is not. locate from them a VIPER base in the area and raid it (and their computers and laptops) for information and proof to present to the public and government. WRAITHE as a PRIMUS Lieutenant calls her C.O. a non by the book Colonel and relays the story and leaves the speakerphone on while she greets the arrivals. She considers this to be a PRIMUS matter now and will expect to see ID, which will be read off to the speakerphone. She expects to see all the proper documentation and procedure followed by them. If they resort to violence or gas she reacts in kind and escapes to the PRIMUS Base. Her CO has many contacts, he will know by the time she gets there how true the allegations are. SHADOWCROSS zips out the window to the roof, leaving Fletch to talk to the government when he gets home (Its his apartment). She decides rather than telling Batman to investigate it herself, test her skills. Library research on the VP and VIPER first, also the President's status. She then goes to where the President is being held and sets up covert surveillance, bugs the room and records comings and goings. Will find out if he is a vegetable, drugged or if he's alright. Selects one of the men close to the VP and arranges to 'meet' him, seduces him and starts extracting information out of him with drugs. SABRE picks up the alien and the rug he is on and they are out of there, straight up several miles before she hovers and begins to plan while monitoring her house. Believe the alien? No not without further proof. She calls her most trusted two teammates, Positron and (?) and gives them longitude/latitude to meet her there ASAP. Although not as brilliant as she they are good decent men who will do the right thing. The rest of the team is.... unreliable. After listening to their views she goes ahead with her own plan, the Sabre armor is beaten up, and a recently dead young woman is fitted into it. Sabre is dead, attacked by an alien in her own home she tried to minimize the damage to her neighbors by taking the fight far out of the city. Unfortunately she dies of her injuries before her teammates, Tron and (?) can arrive. The body of the alien is examined, photographed, and shot up to be found nearby... The owner/developer of the Sabre Armor is contacted as is the government. Funeral arrangements are begun. Meanwhile the three begin their investigation without letting it known it comes from them. Rumors are leaked regarding the President, the Vice President and VIPER. As a very large campaign contributor she leaks reminders of the Presidential Line of Succession into the Senate President Pro Tempore's ear (Robert Byrd (D) WVa) to build Congressional opposition to the VPs plans. Sabre (in her secret ID as the developer/owner of the Sabre suit) builds a new Sabre suit with a different look (already had one actually) and once she has information or the VP's plans have progressed almost too far, monitors Washington D.C. until Air Force One departs. She tails it, disables it, and kidnaps the Vice President. LINEDRIVE stands there, jaw on the floor and then staggers to the kitchen for a beer, drinks it, gets another. He keeps on going out the back door to the porch, lays down in the hammock and pulls his hat low pretending to be napping and only 'wakes up' when their noise makes it impossible to pretend otherwise. He denies ever having seen the alien never spoke to the alien, is helpful and fully supportive of law enforcement. May joke about needing a few of those heroes around if the aliens from Mars are going to be harassing famous baseball celebrities such as himself. Then he lays down on the hammock with another cold one, pulls a brimmed hat low over his eyes and face, and thinks very hard, ignoring the steam coming out his ears. The phone will be bugged, he expects himself to be under surveillance. But who would believe HIM. But he has to do something, he may not be much else that is admirable but he is a true patriot. So he calls Slugger (the team's best hitter, who was kicked off when his brick powers were discovered) and Bat Girl (the teenage martial artist who during the season acts as the team's bat girl). Tells them he's had a shock, one of those aliens that shot the President tried to break into his apartment and kill him and can he stay with them? Will they pick him up? He'll be right there. With Slugger driving, Bobby Joe tells them the absolute truth and that they have to take him to Washington D.C.. Unless the two come up with a better plan he will shoot the Vice President in the head and using BatGirl's cellphone leave phone messages to the National Inquirer, Art Bell, and every conspiracy website he can find explaining why he did what he did. Then he goes to a church and gives confession, and stays there until he knows, one way or another. As a secret mutant with a very odd, Invisible power and 20 years training with small ranged projectiles, he is unlikely to miss, and unlikely to be spotted.
  5. Dan de'Lion (Dan, the Lion) a cat man martial artist or sonic roar powered guy. Roar might freeze a target in place briefly (entangle) The Frying Nun. Old fashioned nun outfit with winged hat, Flight or Gliding, and pyro powers. Sound of Music optional. The Bat Burglar rather than Cat... Batmanlike costume (with a touch of Wile E. Coyote?) gadgeteer. Give him Unluck. Leper Con A short irish dude wearing green, looking for gold and just out of prison. DeBuff powers (disease) I particularly liked Brussels Sprout though. Heck, I smiled at most of these.
  6. Once we were starting a new game with hit locations based on d30. My first damage roll was head, then vitals then head again. The GM stopped the game and had me roll several more times with same result and he stopped the game permanently. Another time he'd made up index cards with random travel encounters. If one came up we picked from the cards. Well, I picked Quicklings my first 3 times in a row and the last time he just gave me a dirty look, ripped up the card and let someone else draw. Good thing too, those things were nasty.
  7. I like the campaign world, how she ties everything together. It's really nice.
  8. MAYDAY calls the police station and tells them to turn on Channel 17. Hops on the Internet to try and track down where this broadcast is coming from and alert that city's police to shut down the broadcast. It can't be legal to sell weapons in this fashion, and send them across state lines, can it?
  9. LINEDRIVE shows up in a windbreaker and clean white shirt, warily because this is his ex-wife #1. Upon seeing Sandpiper, the goon that's been trying to kill him for weeks now, he spills his drink and as soon as he can get away, flees out the back door. :-) SHADOWCROSS appears at her favorite uncle's house, he built her suit and staff weapon and maybe afterwards he can fix this little malfunction in the anti-grav unit... She has a pleasant time chatting and a glass or two of wine through the evening. The announcement comes and she wishes him well, kisses his cheek and contemplates breaking Rainbow Archer's hand rather than shake it. Shake she does, and vows to watch Archer like a hawk until she can get her uncle away from her and let him in on who she really is. Since they probably met when he was making her a bow or some new arrows, SC is not thrilled but there's nothing she can do to stop them from marrying and if she tries to break it up she'll lose her fave uncle and her weaponsmith. MAYDAY flies home and dresses elegantly for supper with her widowed grandfather. When Psiona appears as the intended bride it becomes painfully obvious that Psiona has found her Secret ID out and is going to twist the knife a little (alot) before presenting her demands. Since this probably includes joining PSI, Mayday's grandfather's life expectancy just got alot shorter. She'll play for time in case something works in her favor but not allow him to sign over any of the family property or business to Psiona, and grieve horribly if Psiona kills him or is the cause of his death. Or worse, she is the cause. There will be a fight, it will be messy but not bloody (the benefit of two mentalists going at it) but held off as long as possible to giver her time to prepare an ace in the hole. WRAITHE shows up for the promised pizza and beer on time wearing a leather jacket and blue jeans, hugs her sister and razzes her about the big surprise, has a beer, has some pizza, watches some ESPN with the family and enjoys the commotion. She has a huge family and there are probably 30-50 people here, from grandparents to kids. Sis calls for attention and turns the tv down (not off) then introduces her fiancee to the curious crowd. More beer is poured, a toast is made and sis starts taking him around to meet everyone while Wraithe, a PRIMUS silver avenger, reviews what she knows of him and his threat index. The guys quickly turn the tv back up, the women retreat to the kitchen to wash dishes and get all the details. If it is a dangerous villain on a Wanted List like MechAssassin Wraithe slips upstairs and places a call to her superviser, the house is surrounded and she spends the evening smiling till her face breaks, holding a plastic cup of warm beer pretending to drink it until everyone leaves and she can seperate him from her family and sister, lure him outside and let PRIMUS nail him. If it is Foxbat she pastes on a smile and tries to think of a way to get him out of here without any of her co-workers knowing. The embaressment would be too great. She works on undermining him to her sister, digs up info, makes it up if she has to, whatever it takes to her her to dump him. I'm sure some of my heros would actually try to talk to the fiancee and see if he has reformed, but right now I can't think of any....
  10. Mayday

    HERO 1st times

My best friend bought Dr Who the RPG in 1987 or 1988 and asked me to run it for him so I spent the afternoon reading the DMG booklet and threw together a plot loosely based on the Keys of Time episodes, with the Master as bad guy. The game was a disaster but a fun disaster and I was hooked on gaming. When summer was over and I was back in college I found some other gamers. One wanted to run Champions and helped us make characters. I chose to convert a mentalist I'd been toying with and she became MAYDAY , the human girl with OAF: head as the source of my powers. I also brought along her pyrokinetic best friend. We fought CLOWN and did the Island of Dr Destroyer where Mayday reprogrammed Dr Ds computer to nuke his own island (skills rule!), it was great fun but we moved on to D&D and I only found Champions again when I got a job and joined a new gaming group in my new town. My new GM rebuilt Mayday in a much better way, and his version is still the prototype for her.
  11. It is Friday morning and you receive a call/message/Email/telepathic message from your parent/sibling/son/daughter/creator/ex-hubbie (pick a suitable person) inviting you to supper tonight. S/he sounds happy and clearly has something to tell you. You arrive at the house/apartment/secret base to find most of his/her/it's closest relatives/favorite creations are also present. The time comes for the announcement, and in walks a well known villain(ess) in what you know to be their Secret ID, dressed to the nines in an expensive outfit. The happy couple is showing off a huge diamond engagement ring and they are flying to Bermuda in the morning for a holiday weekend. What do you do? (Choice of villain and level of vileness up to you and your campaign but suggestions include one of your Hunteds, Firewing, Dragon Master, Mechassassin, Oculon, or Foxbat)
  12. Just to really shake things up... have everyone bring a copy of their character sheets from their last/favorite group then everyone pick someone ELSE'S character and play the Evil alternate universe duplicate of that person who is now stranded here. :-) I think it would be very interesting to have the new player of Starside go after the original Starside, and you set the two gamers down together to work it out. Could get very complicated.
  13. No. It is not. If a person cant deal with a trauma they blank it out. Laws can be undermined and overturned. If it becomes a problem there are 179 other countries in the world. No. Mayday didnt try to kill him, and if sending him to jail meant somone she cared about would die, thats what comes with being a hero. You do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do. It is sad, she'd cry, but she would not change anything. ShadowCross was a victim of sexual assault once, so this guy's dead and forgotten in her mind. She's not one to question if she did right or did wrong and in this case she believes she was right to render him dead and probably never thinks about him again. Duplication. So they have minds, sentience, personality.
  14. Go do a post search on MarchWarden, hes posted some very interesting adventures in the past and needs to do so again. :-)
  15. With only his word for it that the constructs are non-sentient and that noone is being harmed, most of mine would sooner believe that Dr D was planning to retire to Aculpoco and take up ballroom dancing. He's portrayed as arrogant and not at all repentent although he knows his 'hobby' is not acceptable in most cultures. His power may have other applications and victims of sexual crimes often repress the whole thing. He may be drawing on the child's soul or mystical energy, affecting their dreams, who knows. It is a potentially complex power. I would never run this, nor would any of my GMs run it. We play in Fantastic Worlds that are slightly gray or moderately dark but some things we dont touch. Very true Blue.
  16. MAYDAY Mentalist Mutant specializing in Ego Blast and Mental Defense. Her Ego Blast can be Armor Piercing, an AE or straight up and is extremely hard hitting while her MD is around 35, Usable by Others at Touch range without losing it, x4 people. She also possesses a duffel bag which functions as a 10 pt gadget pool. She is mechanically inclined and the bag includes such items as a flashlight, food, drink, first aid kit, duct tape, radio and enough bits and pieces to become something else if needed. Skills include 4 languages, Mechanics, computers, piloting, motorcycle usage and various high Society things. Mayday is a french heiress and is taking this time in her life to enjoy herself before her duties catch up to her. She is taking a triple major in College, trying to cram all the knowledge she needs to know with the knowledge she wants to know, while using her powers to help others. Very strong sense of duty. Oh, and her husband Diablo is missing in Hell. She's a very busy lady but luckily the young can function on less sleep than normal people. SHADOWCROSS is a gymnastic ninja babe type with psychological issues and a staff weapon that can pop out a very sharp blade, as well as anti-grav capabilities for Gliding/Flight. Light armor in the form of a black leather bodysuit. She was built in homage to Batman (our team leader) but only incorporates the atmosphere of the Dark Knight rather than cloning him. SABRE is a female armored hero in her 40s and a scientific genius in the field of (flight systems basically). The suit features incredibly fast flight speed and a built in steel saber attached to one arm. Moderate supre strength and various standard armor gadgets. She is on the Board of a corporation that maintains a hero team to promote their technology. Unmarried, she likes being an intellect to be taken into consideration but has chilly social skills and no close relatives. Her one love died long ago as a young soldier and so she is a strong supporter of the military. LINEDRIVE is a professional baseball player and mooch. He had a few average years in the Majors but was gradually edged out by newer, younger players and now plays for a Minor League team in Florida evading his two ex-wives and their lawyers as best he can. He is very laid back, never stresses anything, never hurries except on the diamond. Patriotic to the max and loves the sport. He would never cheat on it, never bet on it, never sully it. And never miss the chance to sneak in a 6 pack when the Coach isnt looking. He is in a 75 point campaign so I gave him Invisible Missile Deflection/Reflection with combat levels, and the tracking ability to locate alcohol or a bar from miles away, 360 degrees. When he 'catches' something thrown or fired at him (say a bullet) he can store it temporarily, up to a day, and release it later but he can only release in the order it was absorbed. (Reflection on a time delay) He has PS: baseball player and KS: baseball, as well as Acting. Acting has saved his life on at least one occasion. When he entered the dugout on the last of his actions to see thugs about to shoot the owner's daughter, and him too. He faked a heartattack and dropped to the floor, they decided he wasnt worth a bullet and shot the two teammates who were right behind him instead. MARJORIE is a 3000 year old vampire from the Tremere Clan. Originally a barbarian proto-pictish king's daughter, her small tribe was wiped out in raid feud, including her husband and sons. She encountered a sorcerer who took her on as a guide and stayed on with the 'goddess' witch he was meeting. From her she learned both Tremere arts and how to set up a divine cult. Much later as a full sorceress mage she was betrayed and rendered undead against her will. She continues to serve the Clan as a negotiator and spy against the other vampires of the world. Her husband, a minor knight of the Arthurian court of legend, lays in an enchanted coma awaiting the return of his king. She has a strong personal dislike of tyrants and thugs, which naturally leads her to a dislike of supervillains. Her powers are standard vampire/Tremere stuff. Spellcraft, psychometry, divination, ghouls, weather influencing, regeneration, wealth. The ghouls form an organization similar to the mafia and serve as her eyes and ears and hands. She also has a secret Familiar. Her preferred fighting style is to not fight but ghoul bodyguards make excellent ablative damage reduction.
  17. MAYDAY would inform the police, advise the man to seek psychiatric counselling and consult a lawyer. Theres probably a law of some kind being broken here and if not, if he continues, he'd make a good test case on the rights of constructs. Knowing the publicity from the trial will screw up whatever it is he does for a job, this would simply be disturbing to her, and must be stopped. SHADOWCROSS would observe the man's car, then set it to explode the next time he switches on the ignition. "Its not the police you needed to worry about, enjoy you BLEEEEP." and go home to sleep soundly.
  18. MAYDAY would get his attention and fly up to meet him in a leisurely pace and a big smile. She likes meeting new people. Introduce herself and try to engage him in conversation. She's curious about who he is and what his plans might be. Is likely to invite him down for an ice cream or lunch. She'd be interested by his back story and wonder if the other offspring will also develop the same powers, thn suggest the name of a reporter she likes to give interviews to, as a way to get his message and intentions (for good or ill) out to everyone, spin the PR a bit. And if after all he turns out to have a desire to follow dear old dad, well, she'll try to understand why and talk him into other career ideas, but if that doesnt work she'll keep an eye out for him and be there when he commits his first crime to take him in. But, unless it was heinous its the first offense, he can still go straight but twice is two too often. SHADOWCROSS would watch him go by, evaluate his skills using the new gear and follow him out of curiousity and a need for diversion. May sneak up on him and play with fire a little more but doesnt care much which side he's on so long as he doesnt mistreat women. If he's like dad, then she would be happy to flirt with him and disappear before anything happens. SABRE would fly up and hail him, strike up a conversation about their respective armors and be annoyed if hers is not faster/better. Inquire if he built it himself and if he has the capability to maintain or repair it. Ask him his plans in the city and keep an eye on him for awhile. LINEDRIVE would squint at the sky and nudge his teammate with an elbow. "Hey, new hero in town." then go back to whatever he was doing. Either enjoying a beer or in training for the baseball season (or both). He serves as an outfielder on a minor league team in Florida and has not chosen a hero career. It just kind of happens around him and he can't avoid it.
  19. MAYDAY will sit down with him and see what can be done. Would he turn evidence on his former associates? Would he be willing to work for a government 's team or a UN team? How about an implanted 'control' device. She personally objects to the latter but the government liason may suggest it so best he thinks about it. The money goes with the two of them to a fund for his victims (if any). Until then he's free to stay with her and has the choice of cooking duty or wash up duty. She wants to be there for moral support in case he backslides or gets tempted. I agree with the others, Husky is memorable among a legion of heroes inhabitting these Forums.
  20. Metallion may well be a doll and doesn't like children much. She'd send the kid to a (male) psychiatrist and make sure someone put her on drugs (and that she really took them) until a more permanent way of ending her threat comes along. ShadowCross also has doll potential, but if she thought the kid was about to Transform her she'd knock the kid out resulting in a hospital visit. Mayday would try to talk her out of this hobby, and see that someone puts mental blocks in so she cant use the power in future.
  21. While I think you should let Cato handle the physical stuff (If you ever saw Bruce Lee as Cato, you know what I mean) I think your power set should be based around something significant, like gravity. A genius mind shouldnt concern itself with less than the structure of the very universe.... fire and lightning are so 1850's... So you have armor or gadgets that include perhaps an anti grav zone for missile Deflection, flight, gliding, EB Dble KB blast Indirect as the gravity in their hex goes crazy and tosses them high into the air? Neutrino (X-ray) vision goggles. And you MUST have a cape.
  22. Read the What If posts concerning Mr Fabulous and Dr Grondicus. They sound almost perfect for your idea. As an Intellect of such stature you should be like the Green Hornet. IE, your sidekick Cato will handle everything while you earnestly trade punches (and miss) with one of the bad guys until Cato has finished off the other 29 and takes him out for you. While you offer a soliloquy Captain Kirk style on Freedom and Justice to the arch villain Cato defuses the missile launch computers, apprehends 12 random muggers while bringing the limo around, rescues 3 felines in trees, takes the limo in for an oil change, cures cancer and the hole in the ozone layer, and prepares a 7 course romantic meal for you and the beautiful kidnapped scientist's daughter you will save from the villain's dramatic exit/base implosion. But youre a genius! You probably own the stock market and the US Patent Office has limited you to 10 submissions a day.
  23. This one's tough. Mayday: Victoria Beckham. This would be either an ensemble movie in which she plays a small role, or .... not sure what kind of movie would be best suited, probably a tv series similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sabre: Jamie Lee Curtis or Sarah Jessica Parker. This would be an ensemble movie with several leads portraying team members. ShadowCross: Elisha Cuthbert? Kim Basinger? Pamela Anderson? Her movie role would amount to shots of her in a very tight leather outfit. Dialogue would just get in the way. A definate B movie. Linedrive: Russell Crowe with a few extra pounds and hair died sandy blond. This movie would be a light hearted comedy in which Russell's talent would be utterly wasted, but I cant think of anyone else.
  24. WANTED: To Buy or Rent political officeholders. Must be willing to vote as directed, leak Classified and Confidential documents upon request. 401K, full health and dental provided. Bonuses for leadership in large country or international conglomerate, seat on committee to construct buildings suitable for SuperVillain HQ, ability to erase parking tickets and/or overdue video store fines or ability to declare holidays. Will consider perky young female interns but requires face to face interview. LuthorL@diesupermandie.org
  25. Forgot the guests. There is always a cute young actress and usually the Rosanjin scholar, the food critic Asako Kishi (?) or the fortune teller.
