Acheron is a world that is slowly dying.  It has lost it's magnetic field and the solar wind is gradually eroding its atmosphere.  Most of the land surface has played out soil, with the exception being a valley that has been eroded out of the remains of an extinct shield volcano and the river delta at the base of the the volcano.  Days and nights are long, and the night sky is beautiful to look at since since without a magnetic field the upper atmosphere fluoresces under the solar wind, a phenomenon similar to the Northern Lights but one that can be seen on the equator.  

I suppose by the transitive property, I too must be as Vulcan as a mother******.

SCOTT: Captain, the transporter chief mentioned a surge of power. The transporter lock might have been affected by the ion storm and we just materialised somewhere else.

The Confrérie Mutante (X-Men/Brotherhood of Evil) are France's flagship superhero team led by

General Balor (Cyclops/General Immortus):  More than a thousand years old, Balor has only one eye and can shoot energy beams out of it.  In combat situations, Balor tends to be the leader when he is there.  

Gargantua (Colossus/Garguax):  Descended from Russian emigres in the early 20th century Pierre Rasputin has the power to turn into a giant with boosted strength and durability.
