The movie with no script, effectively ad-libbed by RDJ and Jeff Bridges.  It's astonishing that the MCU happened at all.

Exactly. Did anyone have a problem with all three of the big guns (Cap, IM and Thor) easily finding each other and getting their "Big Three" posing moment?  Same thing. It is a standard beat in these kind of comic homage splashes.

The all women shot was clearly a homage to comics....which have full page shots like this all the time. I had zero problems with it.

Yeah, those folks who object to the "forced diversity" in recent comics need to toss out their X-Men back issues.

Seriously, let's consider the 2nd version of the team (Giant Sized X-Men #1):

    - a black African woman
    - an Asian
    - a Native American
    - an Irishman
    - a Soviet Communist
    - an assassin
    ...and Scott.

Looks pretty diverse to me. And this was nigh unto two generations ago.

If this was the CW Flash would have just traveled back in time to warn everyone and then accidentally make everything worse because he overreacts (or overacts), and that's how the villain planned it all along.

I think this highlights a major difference in philosophy on Contacts. For me a Contact is never a lesser used item.  They are not the equivalent of a flashlight. Lesser or incidental interaction with NPCs are covered by skills and as has been mentioned, KS's. (I'm using my phone vice a computer so it hard to keep up and find relevant posts) 😕

For me a Contact isn't just a resource for the PCs, it is also an indication of what players would like to see in their adventures.  Hunteds, Contacts, Favors, Reputations, Dependent NPCs and so on.  The more details the better.  They all help the GM flavor the adventure with plot points directly keyed into the players characters.

But neither "philosophy" is wrong, and I hope no one reads my posts as a criticism

All great. As I was saying on another board, "I could have watched Steve in a counseling meeting, Tony with his daughter and Thor with his mom, all day long..."

I personally found Nat's sacrifice utterly correct. She was the only one with nothing, and it wasn't just her saying it... they SHOWED it in the movie. Of all of them, she was the most committed to the Avengers, never backed down, and it meant the most to her. Renner just owned that loss, as did they all. There wasn't an ounce of insincerity in the emotional moments... heck, for the first time I actually bought the Gamora / Nebula rivalry and sisterhood.

Tessa Thompson had less than five minutes of screen time in whole, and I'd watch an entire movie of Queen Valkyrie.

    And ultimately... "On your left..."

So, I'm sure someone else must have noted this, but I just finished seeing it a second time, and one thing was very, very clear that I just missed, the first time.

    Bucky knew.

He knew what Steve was going to do. He said, "I'm going to miss you," when supposedly Steve was only going to be gone for 5 seconds.

He smiled and turned away as Hulk and Sam freaked out when Steve didn't come back.

He was a bit surprised, but knew immediately who was sitting on the bench.

He pushed Sam to go talk to Steve and clearly knew about the shield being passed on to him.

So clearly, at some point, old Steve had come to him and told him what was what. He was prepared for it.

And this goes a long way towards really establishing that Steve was around for those 70 plus years incognito.

Based on the quantum bubble theory they are going with in the MCU, every possible universe exists, so in the "main MCU" Thanos did all the bad stuff and got his head chopped off by Thor. When they went back in time they created a new timeline, where Thanos discovers them and comes to the future... and that one, he and the armies are dusted, so that alternative timeline loses their Thanos and he isn't there to continue conquering and getting the stones (so they really made THAT timeline better, most likely).

The real confusion comes with Cap's old man appearance. As the previously posted article goes into, there are certain assumptions you have to make, depending on your theory, and none of them seem good... except that I do feel that Cap was around, living quietly, making a life with Peggy while all the crazy stuff of the first 21 movies happened... My personal theory is, if you ask him, he'd say that the hardest fight he ever managed was NOT fighting, NOT interfering, because he knew how it all worked out. Cap's growth from almost blindly self-sacrificing to a level of enlightened self-interest, juxtaposed to Tony's arc moving from selfish hedonism to ultimate self-sacrifice.

The beauty is in the writing. There are infinite ways to explain/justify/argue about what Cap did and the implications... but by not telling us, having Cap keep it to himself... it simply allows the viewers to apply their own POV. I mean, this is crazy comics world... so many possible over-convoluted explanations... pick the one you want... we'll never know and that is just fine.

Now that Marvel Studios has him to play with, I'd like to see them gradually introduce Doctor Doom as the behind-the-scenes mastermind across the MCU, with or without the FF (at least initially). If anyone can rival Thanos in playing the long game for the highest stakes, it's Doom.

Future Nebula shot her past self. Only one in this timeline. (And I mentioned it before, but I'll say it here again, one of my favorite bits is that the key plot turns on Nebula, who was just a shallow caricature before this... and of all places, this movie allowed her arc and character to come to fulfillment. Her shooting herself, with almost no hesitation, was brilliant. She hated who she had been, and she knew exactly what her old self would do... and pulled the trigger. That was great.)

The definition of sexism... male character growth at the expense of the woman. I'm not saying there isn't logic to it from Pym's POV, but it is just another version of the woman suffering so the man gets to grow. The fact that it is just such a common trope is exactly why it rankles so much.

I think this might be the best movie Marvel has done.
the character stuff was amazing. Wasn't thrilled with Thor but I know Hemsworth wanted more like this. Loved that it was Pepper that knew what Tony needed to hear at end.
The scene where Cap stood up bloody with half a shield ready to face Thanos and his army alone if needed and the portals started opening had tears rolling down my cheeks.
this movie was a great payoff for the other 20+.

ok, now will go and read why I didn't like it.
