The amazing thing is that even Lovecraft cannot make penguins scary. In fact, if you feed a giant penguin to a shoggoth, it just makes the shoggoth less scary.

Well, sorry dude, but nobody can help you.  When you basically come out and say that you don't consider 3 of the 4 movies "canon", and you changed a bunch of things you didn't like and rewrote some of the novels and edited some of the movies to be closer to your liking, then you are no longer dealing with the same "canon" that the rest of the universe is.  Do what you want, but nobody is going to see things the way you do.

Yep, I think so.  There is, of course, some validity to concerns  about language policing, but far too often complaining about "political correctness" is a stalking horse for "I want to be able to be just as horrible towards people who aren't like me as I was before, and not get called out on it."

Templates should be tools, not straitjackets.
 
They are good for setting benchmarks, and quick and dirty character creation, but they are no substitute for actually thinking about characters.
