  1. Re: Pyrokinesis and TK Strength This thread had a 4 page discussion on using TK for fire control, the pros, cons, other options, etc. Check it out and see if it helps you figure out what will work in your game. http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68536
  2. Re: Ubo Seems very similar, but a little more straight forward, than the current rules. I like it at first glance, but would have to look at it closely since I haven't used UBO a whole lot, and would need to consider the ramifications of the minor changes. I think you should post this in the appropriate 6th Ed discussion.
  3. Re: Close Your Nose They are pretty clearly defined in the book. The biggest difference, off the top of my head, is that most Talents are physically possible in the real world without a Focus. I'm sure there are more specific differences, but I don't feel like getting my book right now.
  4. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Sweet man, thank you so much! I can't wait to see the finished version. This is simply amazing!
  5. Re: Stretching at Range One reason Range might be an option in HD is because you can add Usable On Others to Self Only Powers. Adding Ranged would then negate the need to touch the person you were granting the Stretching ability to. I think it's extremely rude to imply that Lucius is not using common sense, or his brain. He saw a possibility for a build he had never considered, and asked what everyone thought about it. The fact that the idea came from HD is immaterial. Common sense would dictate that after finding that the software allows a build you don’t understand, you’d ask about it, rather than dismiss it out of hand. He could have completely ignored it, but then he’d be risking missing something that he simply hadn’t thought of.
  6. Re: Area of Effect Defense Thanks for addressing the examples and explaining your position.
  7. Re: Calm the Storm Defense is, but is the ability to "cancel" a power always cheaper? Even if it is, it should still cost more to make a "sunny day" out of a partly cloudy day, than out of a hurricane, shouldn't it? Maybe not as much as making a hurricane, but still...
  8. Re: Automatic Suppression Field I was thinking of an answer Steve gave, but it was about triggering Accidental Change, not Trigger the advantage: I had forgotten the context and was thinking it applied to Triggers in general. Sorry.
  9. Re: Changing into a costume Plus, the whole secret ID thing. And unless you wear your costume under your clothes every moment of every day, taking OIHI could really screw you.
  10. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... You didn't know that? She married that guy who played Wesley on Buffy and Angel.
  11. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Who is she?
  12. Re: Automatic Suppression Field A character does not have to be aware of a triggering condition for it to apply. There is no need for the robot to be able to sense magic unless it is part of the build.
  13. Re: Monster/Air Elemental Summoning Build? What do you want it to be able to do? If you have a pretty good idea of the abilities you want the Elemental to have, just write it up as a character, see how much it would cost to summon, and adjust as needed. I would strongly suggest eventually picking up the Bestiary. I’ve found it helpful in almost every genre, and besides real animals and fantasy creatures it has prebuilt package deals for things like “infernal” or “heavenly”, and for adding elemental aspects (fire, air, water, earth) to any creature or character.
  14. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread As always, wow.
  15. Re: Spreading Good WIll I thought Kal'El Wayne's solution of "do what my character already does, get misguided or evil people to change their ways" was a pretty good solution.
  16. Re: Spreading Good WIll Hilarious. Repped, for amusing me at work...
  17. Re: Spreading Good WIll New Leaf! I get it!
  18. Re: Free equipment side discussion. Agreed. And now we are back in the realm of genre specific house rules with no standard that will change from group to group. I gotta stick with "this just isn't a Core Rule Book option."
  19. Re: CSL's, while surprised and DCV question I think this might be partly a genre problem. 5 points for +1 DCV is great in a lot of heroic games using NCM.
  20. Re: The Super drugs Maybe I'm just over tired, but the lack of a closing parentheses made me read the sentence about Psychobeast as such: [He is] an insane, six-meter tall monster that, by throwing the administrator of the project into a bunch of burning barrels of highly toxic ingredients, constantly projects a cone of psychic agony in front of him. I read it as Psychobeast throwing the administrator (constantly throwing him?) provided him with the cone of agony. Sorry if no one else finds that funny, but that’s how I read it at five in the morning at work, and cracked up when I finally figured out what it actually said after about three readings. I’ve been working nightshift too long…
  21. Re: Free equipment side discussion. Aren't the Western, Military, Fantasy, Pulp, and Spy genres generally at least somewhat more lethal then Champions? I mean, one of the staples for a lot of people in Fantasy games is running around killing things, and Western and Military result in death from common weapons all the time. If the PCs are allowed to be more lethal than their superhero counterparts usually are, then shouldn't their opponents also have an increased level of lethality, especially if they are all using the same weapons? I can understand applying this scale to supers (even though I don’t think it’s really a necessity) but why should it be twice as hard to kill Gomer Pyle in the military game? If the answer is, “because the PCs are the heroes and the heroes shouldn’t die all the time,” then I’d argue that’s what combat luck is for; that’s why it’s considered a Talent not a Power.
  22. Re: Area of Effect Defense Italics added by me. From the HERO Games Rules FAQ: Considering Defensive powers are the cheapest powers in the game, I doubt many GMs would allow it for defense unless extremely carefully scrutinized, if at all. I think common and dramatic sense would dictate that one character probably should not be able to purchase most of the defense for an entire group. If there are cases where that would fit the tone and feel of the game, fine. I think it’s important to note, when advising someone on a “how to do that thread”, however, that it is not strictly rules legal (hence, a house rule), it may be unbalancing (which they should know if they’ve read the book), and that many GMs probably won’t allow the build.
  23. Re: Area of Effect Defense I gave these examples, and put forth that they were abusive. You will see that the second one is built on 60AP and gives higher rDEF and range than you said was possible on 60 points.
  24. Re: Helpful Fans of your Hero A flip side to this could also be "not so helpful" fans. Heroman gets knocked down, 3 members of the "Heroman fan club" try to attack Dr. D, and promptly get killed. Maybe a counterpoint to the "luck" or "followers" or however it's built, could be DNPC: fans who don't know enough to run away from homicidal maniacs, because "Heroman won't let anything bad happen to us!"
