Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share you ideas!

This time, an generic "brick" plot seed.

Rise, Desturga, Rise!: UNTILL decides that Desurga is to protentuly dangerous to just leave on the floor of the Pacific Ocian, so thay contact as many heroic bricks as thay can to raise it out of the water. Once out of the water, thay plan to place lots of anti-gravity devices upon it so that thay can lift it into space, and dock it near Gateway for further study. The question becomes, how to cordate such a large group of strong men (and women, and genderless others) withour atracting meda atention (which, of course, will aleart the bad doctor). And how can thay not atract other atention eather.

Umm... unless you have JLA-class muscle here -- and I mean, like the scene with Superman and Green Lantern and Wonder Woman (J'onn, Power Girl, Captain Marvel, etc.) putting a tow-rope on the entire damned moon -- moving an entire island that size is just not in the cards. You get a /thousand/ Ironclads together and have 'em put their backs into it... not much happening.

You'd need a comic-book tech MegaScale anti-gravity generator... which is always possible, this being the Champions U... to make the scenario work. But a "World's Strongest Man" convention? I just don't see how either the #'s or the logistics are remotely workiable.

Good answer, good answer!

However, let's look at another possibility: Pulleys! And don't forget, no one man could lift a block that built the pyramid, and yet, people were paid and pyramids were made. How about this: The first obstacle is underwater breathing for bricks that can't, so we take care of that (such as SCUBA or something). But then you get a mentalist 'brick' or one that has a TK with an area effect that covers the island. The other bricks are in effect spotting, just like when working out at the gym. There are *lots* of bricks that have 60+ strength to lighten the load. (After all, I cannot lift a car by myself, but get a group of buddies around a car and we can do it - and we don't even have 20 strength!) Also, bricks that are in Stronghold can be required for community service. Grond with his 90 strength (and can't he breath in water, also?) would really ease some of the strain. The only two bricks villains I can think of that would *not* be recommended (assuming they were captured) would be Durak and Amok.

Of course, if he's going to put anti-grav devices on it, can't they use those in the water as well? Just lift the island up about three feet more than the size of the anti-grav devices (10 feet minimum, please) and take it from there. The big problem then would be following it into space and keeping it on track.

New adventure: While the island is rising, someone comes by or a group of someones come by (another nation's naval or air force planes, Destroyer and/or followers, villains who want it for themselves, heroes who think it's too dangerous to exist, etc.) and start either attacking the escorts (if they want to take it over) or start blasting anti-grav devices. Sooner or later, the island tips, tottles and falls back, crashing into the ocean and breaking up, causing "minor" tidal waves. If it crashes into relatively shallow water, it may cause seismic waves (aka tsunamis).

Remember, don't say "No, it can't be done," say "It's going to be very difficult." :P

Foxbat

When and Where? The heroes are either called to investigate a robbery or come upon one during their nightly patrols. They catch the "tail end" of Foxbat (and crew?) as they are stealing some leading edge technology. Foxbat gets away, laughing that the heroes won't foil in his MASTER PLAN, because once he connects these to the rest of the machine in his secret warehouse, his teleportation device will make him unstoppable.

The next night, the heroes go looking and find said secret warehouse. Inside is a large platform with a roof about 7-10 feet up. The heroes break in, Foxbat tells them they're too late and he yells for the teleportation device to be activated. One of the agents does so and in the next instant, poof! Everyone in the warehouse has been transported back in time.

Options: (all involving Foxbat to have the design manual tucked away with him)

1. The transporter goes back in time, but no one knows how to set it forward. Not for several adventures, at least.

2. The transporter does NOT go back in time, so the heroes and Foxbat must work together to build a new one, much to Foxbat's dismay.

3. The transporter goes back in time, but when Foxbat goes to fix it, he makes it into an actual teleportation device, to the heroes' chagrin.

4. The warehouse gets transported back in time as well.

5. Once the transporter gets fixed, Foxbat tries to leave the PCs behind.

6. Once the transporter is "fixed," everyone is transported back further in time.

7. The teleportation device does work as well. The heroes & Foxbat (and crew) are not just transported back in time, but to another city, state, country or even continent.

Time options:

1. Early 1900's, around the Great War or WW2 era.

2. Late 1800's during industrial revolution (Foxbat could make a fortune!)

3. "Cowboy & Indian" days. Foxbat wants to relive these days, even though tv shows & movies weren't exactly accurate.

4. Caveman days

5. Dinosaur days

6. Ice Age - the heroes & Foxbat (and crew) witness an alien ship crash. Some aliens escape the ship before it is buried by avalanche. Mmm, humans look tasty.

7. Group teleported to Great Wall of China during a Hun or Mongol invasion.

8. Group teleported to the Alamo.

9. Group teleported to the Titanic moments before it hits an iceberg

10. Group teleported somewhere appropriate to a PC's background (say French revolution for a French PC, or Napoleon's invasion of Russia for a Russian PC, etc.)

Of course, just because the time machine starts teleporting back to the future, doesn't mean they can make it there in one leap. :D

I like this idea. I can just imagine Foxbat (or some other villain), "Teleport me now." *flash* "Oh nuts" as the heroes pound him. Smiling they carry the defeated foe out of the building and find..."Hey, this isn't Millenium City!"

Sons Of Rise, Destuga, Rise

1) Rise, Destuga, Rise Part Two, Invasion Gateway: The heros finaly got Destuga into orbit near Gateway, and a couple of weeks have passed. UNTIL has been examinating the artifical island for a while, but trigered no boobytraps which Dr. Destroyer could of left for them. Then, sundenly, without warning, Destroids start phasing out of the base from a secret room with no way into it. Thay elimenate all the scientist scrounging aboard Destuga, then start attacking Gateway. UNTIL sends for the heros to join with UNITY to defeat the Destroid threat before thay send Gateway crashing into Earth.

2) Rise, Destuga, Rise Part Three, Fall, Destuga, Fall!: Thay helped UNITY repell the Destroids from Gateway, and now there seems to be no problems with the eggheads scrounging over Destuga. Then, frome outside, Black Tallons can be spoted. With special tractor beams, thay start pulling Destuga down into Earth's gravity well. While it is calculated that Destuga will burn up most of it's mass in the astrosphere, a good size chunk of it can still do massive damage to a well populated city. And what a cowencidence, it's projected trajectorie is such a city. Not to mention the scientist still inside Destuga which need an exit out of there before thay burn up also. Can the heros do it?

Lady Heart (From CHS)

1) The Other Cards Are Drawen: When patroling the city one day, she finds three teenage girl superheros who look similer to her fighting a VIPER bank roberie plot. She learns thay there names are Lady Club, Lady Diamond, and Lady Spade. Are thay what thay apear to be, or is something more sinister going on that John Rogers/Lady Heart does not know about?

2) The Charity Date Caper: Lady Heart agrees to a 'win a date with a superhero' prize for a super orientated teen magazeen (with some cash by the company being given to a charity of her choice). Thay pick there winner, then sunenly the winner is kidnaped. Can Lady Heart save the pore lovestruck teen?

3) A Secret Admierer...: Valentimes Day is just around the corner, and someone is giveing her creepy valentimes day cards (for example: If you think my love a pain...then you shall be under a TRAIN). Is there anything to this? Is it some sort of joke? Or is there someone out there who defently thinks "If I can't have you, nobody will"?

Grond

Honey, I'm Home! In his aimless wandering, Grond stumbles across Evelyn Potter, ex-wife of Sydney Potter, the man Grond once was. Some dim memory of his past life prompts Grond to seize Evelyn and carry her off. The PCs are called in to recover her, since Grond is beyond the authorities' power to deal with.

When they finally catch up with Grond, however, Evelyn refuses to allow them to harm him. (Note that Grond's identity as Sydney Potter is common knowledge.) Can Evelyn reach the man inside the monster and get him to let her go? What will the heroes do if she can't?

The Champions (it is about time thay gain there own plot seeds)

1) Enter...The Chalengers: A group of solo villians which have a real beef with The Champions decide to get together and form a super villian group dedicated to the uter destruction of the Champions. Can thay survive this major threat?

For the group, I recoment Taislman (who hates her sister Witchcraft) and Hurclean (who hates Ironclad).

For the rest, I acualy have to create them. The leader of my version of the group is Blackbird, a martial artest inclined crinimal who got stoped one to many times by Nighthawk. So he had a costume and a more bird theamed weapions created in order to 'out bird' Nighthawk.

Sapfire's nemisis is the Harpy, a mutant with bird-like wings and a powerful, sonic singing voice. She locked in the attic for years, while her twin sister used her singing voice to a rapid rise to fame as a singer. She hates the music buisness, and is insain enougth to kill anyone asociated with it.

Defender's nemisis in this group is called Snacher. He was a man who created a tractor beam weapon. He originaly wanted to sell his invention to Harman Enterprises, but he felt he was laffed away by the staff, so he created a costume and decied to 'prove' that his weapion is a feasabul one.

2) ...My Sourses Tell Me...: This one is so simple. Basicly, have someone plant evidence that the Champions are, in reality, a villian group, then let the fists fly. Or, beter yet, have the Champions be convince that YOUR HEROS are villians. Eather way, the results are the same.

Ooh, very nice! I didn't notice Evelyn in either CE or CKC, did you make her up, or was she written somewhere else? Either way, I like it a lot. Maybe the PCs catch up as Grond is scaling a building. Sort of the King Kong nostalgia (King Grond!).

On a side note, I was just watching LotR:Return of the King with the subtitles on and noticed the orcs chanting "Grond!" as they moved the battering ram towards Minis Tirith. It turns out the battering ram was named after Grond, Hammer of the Underworld. I looked back in the book and there's about five paragraphs dedicated to this. Very cool!

I like this. Question, though, would you run your PCs with this as a chance to help out, or would you have your players play the Champions while you played the Challengers? I figure if you did the latter, you could always include an aside in your game when the even takes place. (I say this because I used to have my old roommate run NPC heroes while I ran the villains. This way, I wouldn't bias the outcome with what I'd *think* would happen. Instead, I'd have a scenario [or two, or three] that I could use until I got a result I thought went best with the campaign.)

For the group' date=' I recoment Taislman (who hates her sister Witchcraft) and Hurclean (who hates Ironclad)..[/quote']

This sounds good.

For those that don't have your Blackbird, they might use someone like Green Dragon as a nemesis, or alter him to fit the theme.

Hmm... are you by chance using Harpy from Enemies of San Angelo? She also has a hatred of mystics, so that would work doubly well here. Of course, if you're not, then, you're not.

If I am able to start a campaign relatively soon, I think I'll keep this idea handy, though should the Challengers defeat the Champions, my thinking is that the group may disband, but who knows?

Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share you ideas!

Steriaca, while I do appreciate your enthusiasm, several of your plot seeds are near-unreadable due to typos. Could you take the extra minute to edit them?

And now to actual content:

Ad Astra

Renamed Traveller for the Allies book for reasons I have never discovered, Ad Astra was a member of Executive Sanction, an US Government-sponsored hero group. A NASA astronaut, Ad Astra has FTL and Life Support, usable by the entire team at the same time. He's a bit of a ladies' man, and "hunted" by the Flat Earth Society.

And Thus I Refute Galileo

The Flat Earth Society has been infiltrated by a DEMON Morbane, who has tricked the group into performing a series of rituals that will "open the eyes of the unbelievers" and dispel the illusion that the world is round. In reality, the spell will cause a mass delusion that the world is flat, and incite rabid xenophobia. The final ingredient needed is "the blood of a mocker", which the FES believes fits Ad Astra to a tee.

You Left It *Where*?

The last time the player characters kicked out some alien invaders, one of their members accidentally left something important on an alien ship, which has now gone back to its home planet. Now they must convince Ad Astra to give them a lift there and find that item.

Speaking of Aliens

The Intergalactic Cops have finally arrived in the "neighborhood." They swiftly take a number of alien criminals into custody. But then it's announced that all contact with Earth's "not ready for interstellar flight" society is illegal, so all good-guy aliens are also now fugitives, as well as any native Earthling who happens to have access to FTL flight, naturally or by machine. And that includes Ad Astra.

SKJAM!

"Happy Birthday to me"

She was purely made up by me, although there's nothing in Sidney Potter's background as given that would exclude an ex-wife. That's part of the grand tradition of comic-book retconning. And I had the "King Kong" image cross my mind, too. ;)

Yep, "Grond, the Hammer of the Underworld" was the mace wielded by Morgoth, Sauron's predecessor and exemplar as Dark Lord. He used it in personal combat against the Elf King Fingolfin IIRC... or was it Finrod?

No wonder Steve Long put Grond into the 5E CU.

Now, to your spelling and grammar usage (or lack thereof), the lack of time isn't really a credible excuse. You have three basic options that can help you. The first is the cut and paste for spellchecking that has been mentioned, and that will not take long at all. The second is to click Preview Post instead of just Submit Reply. After you've previewed and proofread your post, then submit it. Finally, bring a dictionary with you. Not everyone on the list know how to spell all the words in the English language (American version ;) ), but when they or I spellcheck by one method or another, we're learning from our mistakes or oversights; you can do this to if you make the effort.

As to your rich girl post, it doesn't seem plausible as mentioned. How did this rich girl capture the heroes' nemesis? Did she hire another super to do the job? If so, is this super still on retainer? If not, how is she keeping the villain trapped? If the rich girl was able to hire one supervillain to capture another, why doesn't she just "keep" the supervillain she hired instead? Several villains are listed as mercenary status. If she wanted her own, why not just hire one of them? Alas, what is the heroes' motivation? Are you expecting them just to free the villain, or would they "free" him just to take him to jail?

Finally if you don't have the time or inclination to correct your own posts, why do you expect us to view or review them? You are wasting our time by having to decipher what you mean. Look at how many corrections I found on these two posts. It isn't like you average five to 10 posts per day. Take the time out to show us some courtesy by correcting your own post, else you may find that people tire of reading them and don't respond. And where is the fun in that? Wouldn't you rather have people respond to the topic of your posts than the spelling and grammar usage?

Take care. I hope this helps.

I'll agree with this sentiment at face value, but I don't know steriaca so I won't pass judgement.

Not only is it plausible, but I've used it before almost as it's written. I think I got the idea from an old comic, or maybe a cartoon.

The spoiled rich girl hired a cadre of mercenaries to capture a villain. She did something so that he'd have to obey her (some sort of mind control shock collar-type thing). In the course of trying to find this villain (who was behaving uncharacteristically), the heroes discovered he was a puppet and went after the real villain. The little rich girl had her daddy use his huge influence and money to get her off of any charges. She did the whole thing out of boredom, just to see if she could.

EDIT: For the record, the villain was indeed taken off to jail, and the girl bailed him out later.

She returned every so often to plague the heroes as quite the amoral NPC (and yes, she sometimes did things to help them, just out of boredom).

Your evaluation of his spelling notwithstanding, it was an idea he proposed and I think you were overly harsh, Kirby. Unnecessarily so. :thumbdown

Finally if you don't have the time or inclination to correct your own posts, why do you expect us to view or review them? You are wasting our time by having to decipher what you mean. Yes. So why didn't you? If it bothered you that much you should have ignored it and moved on. If steriaca sees a lack of response to his posts then maybe he'll strive to do better. Maybe not. Doesn't really matter.

I would've bypassed this entirely if you hadn't critiqued both his spelling and his idea, Kirby. The first was unnecessary. The second was completely out of line.

Take care. I hope this helps.

I don't see how it could. Beating a man with a hammer because you don't like his tie would have been more helpful than your reply.

(Reply previewed five times before submitted.)

Pfft.

Steriaca, please, strive to do better with your spelling. Kirby is right in that it makes it difficult to read and at times too much of an effort to understand, much less respond to. Keep a word program open, or type it up in another medium so that your words are easily corrected as you go. You have options. You honestly should consider them.

Consider the free spell-checkers, or (and please don't be offended by this), consider that perhaps with your limited resources and limited time, this might not be the best conduit for your thoughts.

Now, back to the plot ideas...
