What would your character do 52? (Warning: may be kinda creepy)

After a grueling battle, you (and your teammates, if you have them) have defeated and mortally injured a demon-motif villain (use whoever fits in your campaign). Just before he expired, the baddy says the following: "Celibrate your victory while you can fool(s), the seed of my rebirth has already taken root."

He then cackles a last maniacal laugh, his eyes unfocus and roll back in his head, and he collapses limp as a ragdoll as his spirit abbandons his lifeless body.

Sometime later, you somehow find out that a young woman known to have had -ahem- "intimate contact" with the aforementioned villain is pregnant. How would your character react?

Golden Hunter would be torn... killing the child now might seem practical, but it is also a barbaric act... however he did barbaric acts before. Still, the greater glory would be to wait till the the "child" grew, reached power, and THEN they could battle.... he'd decide on that latter, but hopefully tell Kundana or someother mage who might have alternative solutions.

if the demon were somehow connected to the Elder Worms, I hope the rest of his team would be there to dogpile him before he did something homicidal.

Starguard -- whip out her Power Cosmic, try for an exorcism.

Baron von Darien -- call the Trismegistus Council, tell them there is a crisis situation about to break loose in a few months, and would you please send your best mystic specialists for dealing with this kind of thing over?

Dr. Pain -- "OK. Normally, I'm pro-life, but I'm finally gonna make an exception... lady, want to come with me to the clinic?"

Mystical stuff isn't in Hardware's job discription, so he'd have to ask an appropriate teammate or other associate of his for advice on this.

Tiger Shark has seen this sort of thing happen before and wouldn't be overly concerned. He would, however, be preparing for the day this demon made his comeback.

Tough call. Requiem's a "reformed" shadow magic shock-trooper. She was trained/brainwashed for years by her dark masters to kill without remorse. Since taking up the hero gig, she's tried to break out of that mindset, but she still burns for revenge against all things demonic and fights completely without restraint when facing these kinds of villains. Her first impulse would be to kill the kid, and maybe even the mother, but the nagging voice in the back of her head saying "I too was once an innocent child" would probably prevent her from doing it. But she'd keep a close eye on the kid, and if he slipped up even once...

Her former masters recently sent an assassin after her -- after the team defeated her, Requiem removed the assassin's helmet and started choking the unconscious young woman. It took two attacks from her CVK teammates, the cry for help from a mortally wounded teammate (Requiem can heal), and a well-made EGO roll to get her to let go. :)

Millennium and Dolphin both strongly believe in the power of redemption, so both would do everyting they could to see that the child was "raised right."

Iron Will, a wild talent magician, and Snow Leopard, scion of a sorcerous bloodline, have contacts in the mystic community, would alert the Circle. THe Master can decide if it is worthwile to try to raise the child to use its abilitites for Good, or to contain it before it reaches its full potential.

Cheetah, realizing he's WAAAYYY out of his depth, will support the others and provide any assistance they ask for. Will also keep an eye out for cultist. Cultist are agent level, he can take out a dozen cultist without breaking a sweat.

In all cases: Confront the young woman and tell her what is likely coming.

Anthem will never force her to do anything about it, and being Catholic would likely still be resistant to killing it.

Uncle Slam would put her under full-time surveillance to see if any of the Demon's henchman try to contact/abduct her or to see if she tries to flee. He also would not do anything overtly dangerous until the thing is born and begins to exhibit problems or until the woman's health is in danger.

Hmmmm, let's see....

Adrenaline would find someone else to take care of the issue (probably the team leader Deathwish or the local mystic).

Realm, being an ex cop, wouldn't do anything other than try to help the girl.

Hecabus would quell his first instinct to kill the woman and then decide it would be more fun to wait and see what comes out and if it were powerful enough and cool, he would raise the kid as his own.

Oh great. Since Mayday probably just killed her husband after working so hard to find him... she wastes three months searching for the meaning of his last words. Any caches of artifacts, dimensional magics, blood droplets and then when it becomes clear to her that she is pregnant with his child she has tests done by both human doctors and mystical types to ascertain what her child might be.

While it COULD be him reincarnated and all is well, his Contract to a demonic overlord broken, it cant be that easy. Either way abortion is out of the question.

She sees legal experts and makes certain her affairs are in order including the very difficult problem of her being the last heir, and the child her only heir. She has her eggs frozen and in the event of her death they will be fertilized by a preselected donor sample and a host mother found to carry her heir to term. She informs her grandfather of the impending event and selects names for the baby, sets up a nursery and has doctor/mystic visits every week to make sure things are normal, or that they are not.

She asks American Valor and Kalie, an Elder vampire to serve as god parents knowing Kalie will not let the child harm others and will be ruthless enough if it becomes necessary.

And she communicates with her child in the womb via telepathy. If irredeemably evil she will do what she can to realign its mind and if that doesnt work give the newborn over to the godparents to take appropriate steps. Put the child in stasis, whatever it takes.

Irving will probably go into discussions with the local churches that would put medieval scholars to shame. Whether they'll be resolved quickly enough to help is another matter, and any local Mormon elders would probably wish they *could* take caffiene as Irving will keep talking to them until they drop... then wait for them to wake up and keep right on going...

Husky will be unconcerned until he changes into Kenneth. Kenneth will insist on keeping track of the child and the more he obsesses on the child and it's potential threat the more Husky will feel paternal about the unborn child. The mother will have to deal with a hulking charismatic godparent whether she wants help or not.

There's only one character in our group with any knowledge of the mystic arts. I've got no idea what he would do, but the rest of us would fix things the best we knew how.

Given our fields of study and our various personalities, we'd probably infect the mom with nanites to alter the child's DNA, thus ensuring a perfectly human child... though each of us would probably slip in a little something "extra" to the genetic code, just because it's the right thing to do. The kid would likely be superstrong, have superspeed, and incredible health and durability, just because we like to tinker.

Well, Adonis had to go to court at age 14 to prove that he was really human. (Adonis originated in a world with a much shorter than usual super-hero history, so he was the first genetic construct of a human.) He has "issues" with treating beings like they aren't human without better proof than this. He would simply let things go until the child went on its first rampage.

FlameJet:: "FUCK" "Ms. Jankowski, we have another one for the monitoring team to keep track of. Also refer this file to the X-File desk and that mytic organization in England. This woman and her child are to be watched. Class A"

L:ightnin':: This was not in my life decription. Well, there's a bit of time before the birth of the child. He hunts up copies of relevant prophecies and locates an expert or two to look into the conundrum. With instructions to contact his message drop in Australia when a verdict or solution is reached. Preferanly, BEFORE the birth of this possible threat to humanity.

Flippant:

Not really convinced about magic yet, would leave the kid alone.

Wraith:

That demon(?) didn't get away with 'cryptic message, die'. He's stuck getting interrogated. He sure didn't get reincarnated, so his son will be looked in on, and hopefully become great.

If the demon)?) had no spirit, Wraith is worried, but not murderous...

Battlestaff would keep track of the child until he is born, then make sure and keep track of the child as he/she grows. As a way to get in to a position to do this, he would offer to help the mother financially because there's no telling what problems might arise. He would then do his best to steer the child toward a life of good, but be realistic enough to keep an eye out for evil tendencies. If it appears he is going to 'turn evil,' he would remove the child quickly and quietly.
