Alternate Earth/WWYCD: The Legacy Of The Metal Wars...

Wormhole

Recommended Posts

Via campaign appropriate means, your character has been transported to the world depicted in the 1980s TV series Captain Power And The Soldiers Of The Future (for those unfamiliar with Captain Power, click here for info) shortly after the events of "Retribution Pt 2". What would they do once they were up to speed on what's been happening there?

Re: Alternate Earth/WWYCD: The Legacy Of The Metal Wars...

Starguard: is cosmically powerful. And robots don't trigger her CvK. And she's capable of making barren lands reflourish, and healing the sick, and stuff like that -- her powerset is basically 'earth-bound archangel'.

The war's over. And soon. (Hey, she once dropped an entire army of zombies and demons into an instant Grand Canyon, so the more Zedd's troops are assembled, the more they're just a bigger target.)

Dr. Pain: Robots! He /loves/ smashing robots! And as a STR 60 brick, there ain't too many robots in Captain Power that he can't smash. He won't be winning the war single-handed, but he'll definitely be taking the point for a lot of it.

Poor Tank, though. He just got totally upstaged. :D

Baron von Darien: has a distinct problem, as his normal food supply (human blood) is a helluva lot scarcer around here. OTOH, as a very powerful master vampire, there's lots of things he can do to screw up Lord Zedd's operations, using his mist ability to get inside places and then his strength to hurt them.

He wouldn't hook up with Captain Power's people, though -- he's not much of a joiner. At best, he'd be the annoyingly enigmatic figure who showed up, warned them of danger or handed them a clue, and faded away again.

Alternately, he could find a surviving city and assume a leadership position within it, thus curing his lack of food position, and giving himself a powerbase that he can eventually work from. As an immortal, he can take the long view.

Well having never seen it, but having read the linked page.

Black Cat Would destroy a bunch of robots with her Martial Arts (20d6 attacks on average) and likely take over the stragetic planning of the war ;

Tactics 14-, KS: Military/Tactical History (INT-based) (Scholar) 14-, KS: Strategy / Tactics 14-, Deduction (Intuition) 13-, and 3 levels with all skills.

She is a very strong strategist and tactician (was in her superteam) and robots don't trigger any kind of CvK for her.

Hmm, well my only experience with the show is the link just shown but.....

Badger- is a flying energy prjector. So the EBs will help take out the robots easy enough. And the flying and high DEX will make him hard to catch. He could have some good fun. Or at least some training. He probably aint gonna join the resistance though. He is a loner, and probably wouldnt have joined any teams in the past except for extenuating circumstances He probably will have little contact with the resistance, period, for that matter. Just blow up robots to his heart's content. All he really wants out of life is to have an enemy to fight, this'll be paradise.:D

If things get too hot. He might find some group of locals to ally with in a mutally beneficial type pact. (He will need to sleep sometime, and robots do tend to be relentless). Though, give a week or 2, and he probably have a continent cleared out for the humans to stand on.:)

Did there used to be a cartoon of it too? They had exo-armor kits teleported to them?

otherwise, I know only what is on that site.

Stalker would do what he could. I'm not sure how much that would be.

edit, 24 dex, 5(? been a while) speed MA with clinging, 11" running, LIGHT armor, night vision, and some darkness based teleport etc. Not that high of attacks, it was a low end world.

Gewing, the cartoon you're thinking of was Centurions, which had a

similar but slightly less apocalyptic theme (Evil Scientist transforms himself

and his chief flunky into cyborgs and plans to do the same to every human

being on Earth. Opposing him are three highly-trained men with special "exo-

frames" that allow them to fight in air/space, land, and sea; they are later

joined by an Amerind stealth expert and a heavy-weapons specialist. Each

exo-frame has at least three weapons systems, and individual weapons can

be exchanged for different ones according to need).

Rock Bottom: Helps smash robots. His unique physiology makes him largely immune to chemical and biological attacks, though Dread seems to rely less on those in the second season.

Calculus: Is best suited to the strategic end of things. He'd certainly be trying to get as much information as possible on the technology of the day, even if he's not a gadgeteer as such.

Mask of Justice: Is a bit underpowered for the setting; his sensory abilities are pretty much matched by the futuristic technology. If he can be fitted with a Power Suit, though, his fighting skills will be of great help.

Kira Midori: This world is a nightmare for her. War robots are forbidden in her world for a reason, after all. Her powers and weaponry don't work particularly well on mechanical lifeforms, and she's not keen on becoming a soldier. Her primary goal would be getting to the next dimension in hopes of finding a way home.

Talion: His powers don't work on robots. On the other hand, he can come back from being digitized. He'll make a great distraction.

Millennium IIRC the robots in the series were not much for HTH, but had a gun-like ranged attack on a focus. Millennim has missile reflection at range, can provide cover for a lot of the human fighters.

Cheeta Multiple move by grab/disarm is one of his favorite maneuvers.

Iron Will Was a technopath before being a technopath was cool. Shouldn't be that difficult to design a virus to bring the robots down.

Snow Leopard Her mother's ability to call down lighting would be useful in this situation, had she inheirited that. Instead she'll use area effect ice entangles to immobilize large groups of the robots.

Dolphin Practically invulnerable and very strong, his CVK does not extend to non-organic life. Seeing the ecological devistation the Metal Wars has caused will make him angryier than he has ever been before. It suddenly became a bad day to be a robot.

I foresee Badger and Soaron having a dramatic aerial battle at least every other episode. :D

(One of Zedd's two robot lieutenants is also a flying energy blaster, and he melees as well. Sucker was like a giant metal pterodactyl with lasers. "Living metal" regeneration, too -- he'd get stomped in one episode and be right back in the next one, factory fresh.)

Re: Alternate Earth/WWYCD: The Legacy Of The Metal Wars...

Adamant - I can see the main villain ranting about Adamant, "He doesn't eat, he doesn't sleep, he doesn't feel pity... or remorse (for us, 'cuz we're machines)! And he absolutely cannot be stopped until we are - well, scrapped!" He get pretty mad about the apocalyptic destruction of all those people, and would take a 90 STR brick can of whoop-*** to the machines. And given his defenses ('was that a nuclear weapon? ouch.'), and regeneration even from death (though he has no way of knowing about this power, since he's never been killed - or badly hurt), there's not a whole lot they could do about it.

Chemo - EEP! Chemo'd be doing his best, but would have a hard time against the type of opposition depicted - and his powers are pretty much useless if he's in one of the powered armor suits. Given his chemical transformation abilities, he could fry a bunch of cyborgs (or rust them maybe, if he had some experience to burn on another multipower slot), but I'd expect them to trash him if he tried to stand and fight. Trying to find a way out of this hell-hole dimension would occupy a lot of his time.

The Analogist - Would quickly determine that the genre conventions of this world were not to his advantage, and that he only had (at most) two seasons to get out before the network pulled the plug. He'd then come up with a flawless plan for Captain Power to win the war, deliver it, and get back home in one episode.

Avatar - Would be laughing his ***** off once he figured out what was going on. Then he'd obliterate the opposition with his EMP power - frying those that were somehow shielded with bolts of EM radiation or smashing them to bits easily with his mega-strength; in about half an hour the earth would be cyborg/robot free. "Now let's talk about how I get back home".

Re: Alternate Earth/WWYCD: The Legacy Of The Metal Wars...

Manchine

Who absorbs energy/shoots it back and has no need for eating. So wouldnt be affected to much by appearing on the barren world. With Manchine advanced sensors. It wouldnt take to long to find any human life forms. He would also easily be more then a match for any robots. Since he can absorb energy and just drain them dry. Of course there is ways to stop that and they will figure it out but it probable won't be in time. Manchine, would link up with the resistance and probable advance there tech to take out the robots.

Animal Teen

Another one who would have no problem fighting there. Would be pissed about the barren lands. With no damage resistance but with super human acrobatics. Its really hard to hit him. He would have no problems tearing through the robots since he is the strongest person on the team (and he still growing). This might cause him to grow up a lot seeing what could possible happen if Heroes like him fail.

Sonic Soldier

With his military background he would be trained to be left out in the wastes like this. He probable would be the person to most quickly adjust to the change. He might not understand it all though. With his speed and sonic powers he would easily be able to sneak in access infomation and escape. Doubtful that the evil robots would have anything that could stop Sonic Soldier for quite sometime. He would also after earning the rebels trust lead them. Since he is a natural leader.

Seige

Probable the one person that couldn't do a dang thing. All her mental powers are useless against Machines. Her TK would be her only use for her. Of course Throwing up a pink shield in front of a group of soldiers so they wont be hit and being hot will make her wanted in any group.

White Knight

Being Immortal at this time has its advantages. With a sword that can cut through, nearly, anything. He wont have to much of a problem just defending humanity. Help them reclaim what they lost.

Earth Lord

Being from the 30th century and understanding how timetravel works. He really wont want to mess with the timestream to much. Unless he finds out someone else has messed with the timestream. Which will make it he will adjust it to what it should be.

Re: Alternate Earth/WWYCD: The Legacy Of The Metal Wars...

Jessica - would have a food issue, as she needs either blood or raw meat. And there seems to be a lack of it in this universe. Beyond that, she's a brick and would start stomping.

Silence - Robots don't trigger her CVK, she doesn't eat or sleep and the massive depopulation does not bode well for long term business (Psychopomps needs souls to usher into the afterlife - no life = no souls = no purpose = non-existance) so helping humanity along is a nice bonus. She'd draw her sword and fight until there was no more fight to be had - as everything is 0END for her, she can fight for aeons and never tire out.

Re: Alternate Earth/WWYCD: The Legacy Of The Metal Wars...

Snap Dragon Would be desperatly trying to find a way back from this blighted nightmare. At the same time she would help out as best she could probably staying in the backlines putting her medical skills to the best use. Either that or shape shifting herself into something sutibly cyborg like and sneaking in to bases for recon.

Quantum Would demonstrate the folly of attacking someone with a 80 point Cosmic varriable pool. Then he'd start getting creative in dealing with robots. After that he'd clean up the world and then he'd open his own portal back home.

Heaven's Sword Would ask the local scientists to help him get back home in exchange for him helping destroy the hordes of robots. Then he's start harvesting robot heads. Then the first time he met one of the "generals" he'd demonstrate the Heavens Graceful Steps (teleporting 40 inches accross the battlefield) and hit it with a HKA that resembles a small AT missile.

Re: Alternate Earth/WWYCD: The Legacy Of The Metal Wars...

Queen of Spades will be pissed, but can accept the situation. Best case scenario--all of her Dim. Spaces will hop across with her, so having the Queen's Armor will be a huge bonus in protecting her. And since her vehicle, The Jack of Diamonds, is a heavily upgraded Nissan Titan, travel is not a big problem. The tricky bit is stopping these robotic hordes, and if she can figure out how they work... well, any resistance cell will happily take her in in exchange for what she can do. (Personally, she could hold out on her own, if she manages to find some supplies and a place to hole up in.) After that, she'd smash a few robots, and figure out how they work--if possible, somehow override their command recievers and send them back upon their controllers. Rinse, repeat.

Once through, she'd command them to butcher themselves and leave a few leftover to re-harvest the land and put them in hands who'd use them wisely. Then find a way to get back off this dimension.
