Olliande
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide As a french, my local store command to esdevium,so No Advanced Player Guide in store too, can we have a timeline to a reprint? :weep:
Steve Long
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide I do not have a specific date for you, sorry. It is a question of Darren chiseling some reprint money out of the budget while we maintain the current print schedule. We are looking into various solutions, since naturally we don't want the book to remain out of print any longer than it has to.

Tywyll
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide Does anyone know which, if any, UK Distributors were supposed to have copies of APG, because there is still no one saying it's available over here. I'm hoping that maybe some distributor got copies before they were sold out in the states.

Tywyll
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide I'm looking for someplace where the shipping won't kill me though. So maybe a European distributor? Just checked their website and no hero game is listed on it. Are you meaning their physical store has it? Guest steamteck
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide This an incredibly cool book. I have not switched the 6Ed and still find it very very useful. Kudos. I've often found Steve's alternate stuff suit's me better than his official take and this has lots of things that really work better than the official way for me. Thanee
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide I'm looking for someplace where the shipping won't kill me though. While this here is "just" the PDF version, it's a pretty good deal. Bye Thanee
Olliande
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide I just see the HERO System Advanced Player's Guide in the online store. Does this mean that there were reprints?
rjcurrie
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide I just see the HERO System Advanced Player's Guide in the online store. Does this mean that there were reprints? Yes. Hero Games had another print run done a little while ago -- just before DunDraCon in mid-February.' Ragitsu
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide "(an American’s collective unconscious includes Uncle Sam; a Scandinavian’s includes the Norse gods; any male human’s mind would contain a Madonna/whore image of Woman, and so on)." megaplayboy
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide Really? Really? . Well, it's a common cultural dichotomy, and I'd guess that most male adult humans are at least aware of it at a subconscious level(i.e., even if they're not aware that it has a name, they may still be somewhat influenced by it). It is a bit of an overgeneralization to say "any male human's mind...", particularly since it implies (without, i think, intending to) that all male humans harbor or subscribe to this dichotomy. ned-kogar
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide I love this book. It throws up some lovely ways of nudging the system nearer to what our campaign's turned out to be. The Mental Powers ideas, in particular. Excellent work. Gunrunner
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide Does the APG include alternate dice-rolling methods? I always thought 3d6 was just a bit too determinant (spelling?) and enjoyed more randomness in combat. I suppose I could just use 2d10 instead, but I don't know if the APG goes more into this. megaplayboy
Re: The HERO System Advanced Player's Guide Well, there's supposed to be a 2nd APG out next year--I suppose if someone starts a "what do you want to see" thread we could include alternate die roll methods--1d10 or 2d10 is definitely a plausible alternative imo. Percentiles would be interesting....what if you rolled 3d10, with the first representing 10s, the second representing 1s, and the last representing tenths of a percentage point? Instead of an "18 or less roll, maybe it would be 99.1%, and so on until you got to 99.9%....

Well, there's supposed to be a 2nd APG out next year--I suppose if someone starts a "what do you want to see" thread we could include alternate die roll methods There will be an APG2 in 2011, but I guarantee you that if anyone starts a WDYWTS thread other than me, I will ignore it... particularly if they start it a year before I'm supposed to begin writing the book. When the time is right, I'll post a WDYWTS thread.

Always better for a fan-base to have clear guidelines and open communication, rather than mystery and fudge. A second APG is an exciting prospect - the rationalisation of 6th Edition gives a really firm basis for tinkering.

Always better for a fan-base to have clear guidelines and open communication, rather than mystery and fudge. I hate to come across as dictatorial -- really all I'm trying to do is make sure that I don't miss out on any good suggestions! Sometimes the unfettered freedom of the Internet isn't the best way to go about these things, so I try to guide the process a bit. Hope new edition will even have MORE optional Hero System goodness in it (more pages). Well, I don't know about that. It depends on how much stuff I can think up, but I expect there's probably a limit to how much publish-worthy new optional rules can be compiled at any given time. Since APG1 already cherry-picks the existing 5E material for rules worth preserving, I'm either going to have to lower the bar a bit more, dig a bit harder, or take the time to create new stuff. Right now I'd be surprised if APG2 is as long as APG1, but at this point it's anybody's ballgame.

Most dictators are capricious and inconsistent.
