Expositor

Need someone to impart plot-relevant data to the audience? Casey Grey is your man! Capable of many accents, and with a bold, vibrant baritone voice, he can appear as the explaining scientist, the man in the briefing room, or even just the voice-over narrator in the case of less imaginative performances. In a conflict, his power to narrate becomes dangerously powerful, as it manifests as an area effect mind control - what he says to do, people do.

So he basically is Basel Exposition then, with Mind Control? Cool.

Guizashu

The person called the Guizashu is a very skilled martial artist who can use anything to kill. He is very precise and absolutely deadly when he does strike. He will only fight when ordered to do so, but he always goes for the kill. It doesn't matter to him who the target is.

Guizashu is the mandarin word for Exacutioner. And he does exactly that, as long as his bosses say so. He takes no payment for his murders, as the triad provides him everything he wants.

Replaced tong with triad.

Jimmy Lee

Jimmy is one of the 49s or footsoldiers of the Triad. He has a degree of luck and like the stereotype has the smug self satisfied look about him. He knows he will not advance high up the chain but he knows to keep on the good side of the bosses and the operatives. He witnessed Shi Ling Guan Yuan got kicked out of a meeting and then the bomb went off and killed those who stayed behind. She expertly covered for the Triad and even had the police test those outside the building for handling explosives. Then there was that bunch of chancers who robbed the Triad and did a high speed get away into the harbour. They held people off with replica guns. Shi Ling Guan Yuan told the police that she had been held hostage and threatened by those people and they had threatened the 'innocent bystanders' (actually Triad footsoldiers) with guns preventing them from doing anything. She then discretely nodded to Guizashu who went off to deal with the thieves.

Jimmy is not sure if his luck or the operatives was at play here.

Jimmy has some minor martial arts skill and can use a gun but has a larger than usual amount of luck but is otherwise normal.

Guard

Han Jin grew up in the Triad, his father was a member, his older brother still is, his younger brother is seeking to be. He took the oaths at an unusually young age, after covering for several superiors at a heist gone wrong. Loyalty is rewarded.

While Jin was in prison, enemies of the Triad attempted to eliminate him, and despite his skill at brawling managed to seriously injure him. He was then offered the opportunity to participate in a medical experiment - if it succeeded, he would get time off his sentence, and while he was in the medical wing, his enemies couldn't get at him. Jin agreed.

The experiment was to awaken the perceptive areas of the mind, and it was quite successful. Too much so for most of the subjects, who couldn't deal with the enhanced flow of information, and went slowly mad. Han Jin did not. He learned how to "dial down" the effect in normal life, and thus was able to sleep and act normally on a busy street without sensory overload.

He also realized it had not done as the scientists had hoped. They had wanted to enhance the existing senses; actually, they had made him psychic, able to see everything around him, 360 degrees, and through walls and the ground, only metals blocking his vision. He kept this knowledge to himself.

They reluctantly released Jin as agreed, and he has served the Triad faithfully ever since, as the ultimate look out and security man.

Incense Master

Lang Shen is the inductions officer for the Triad. He ensures that the sacrifices are made properly and that the proper paper is used for the oaths. He is more fastidious than his predecessor who inducted people who were loyal to him or who could advance him. He also ensures that the win is proper and not poisoned which is what did for some members. He bridles at some of what the head wants to do but he does what he is told and what is best for the Association. He does not like Shi Ling or Guizashu but he respects them both as both take Triad business seriously and do not mess about. He seems to know who is loyal and who is not and whether or not people have broken the oaths. He has also been able to determine who is about to break the oaths which has prevented coups. Some have sneered at him as he is not in charge of operations, executions or in charge full stop but keeping the altar clean and making the right dedications at the right time have helped the Triad.

One more member to finish. The boss, deputy leader, operations officer and administrators are all open as are rank and file people and uninitiated members.

And there are plenty of ideas for new teams such as the villainous response to Hex in the City for example

Great Celestral Claw

Zan Quan Do is a triad middle manager, whose right hand was mangled during a raid from the Tiger Squad. Getting it replaced by an alien's disattached hand, they attached it to Zan's stump. Zan normal hides his alien hand, but when he feels he has no other choice he reveals it and channels it's great power to create portals and slice through most anything.

He is quite awair that the word celestial is problematic (for years celestial was used interchangeably with oriental to describe people from his part of the world).

New Team: Kinematic's Group

The mutant mastermind has decided that Blindspot, Fossil, and Overdrive are not enough to build his pro-mutant-rule organization. So these six to twelve mutants have joined him. Not everyone recruited is totally enraptured with the ideas behind Kinematic, othoe the mutant rule part they can all get behind. Of course the IHA is against them.

Very few members are "full time", having their own criminal stuff, but are expected to drop everything when Kinematic asks for their support for their mutual protection.

Any resemblance to members of the X-Men, the Brotherhood, and the Acolytes are coincidence, really.

Any Old Iron

This woman can suddenly change into iron. As such she is much stronger than a normal man or woman. Indeed she is much stronger than over ten men or women. And she also weighs more. She does have a fear of water, rain and rust monsters. She is quite the fanatic and serves full time buying into Kinematic's spiel wholeheartedly.

Any resemblance to Wolverine is entirely coincidental.

(Would have thought Colossus, Tribble...)

Blue Shift

Not a speedster. but rather a shapeshifter. He (generally...) can alter his shape to any human being, copying people right down to the DNA. He can't do inhuman alterations (like crab claws), unless he's copying someone with those abilities. His name comes from his naturally blue skin.

Any resemblance to Mystique is entirely coincidental.

Unless I missed something major in twenty+ years of not reading any X-books, Any Old Iron sounds more like Colossus than the Canadian.  Coincidentally, of course.  :)

Which is possible, of course.  By now there's got to be a mutant whose mutant ability is to swap other folk's mutant powers around.

Can't understand why the Legion Super Heroes doesn't have one of them yet either.  Imagine trying to fight that mob when they've all spent time cross-training with each other's powers and you don't know who can do what until it happens.  Of course, the pranking with giving the main team the powers of Arm-Fall-Off Boy could get out of hand.

Dropzone

Daria Bowsman is a former military brat who was raised on patriotic high ideals as she was carted in her childhood and early teens base to base, place to place, all over the world. She actually considered joining the military herself, mostly to follow the family legacy, even going as far as learning how to shoot guns when most other girls were more concerned with make up and Boy Bands.  When her powers first surfaced, Daria was not alone. She teleported herself and several students by accident  to the roof of the school, an incident that resulted in one panicked peer going off the ledge and breaking a leg. Daria had been outed as a 'filthy mutie'. The rancor stunned her! While it would be folly to say her life was free of discrimination, she had bought hook like and sinker the lessons her parents had told her about how everyone on base , regardless of beliefs, skin color, or creed, was an American just like her. Apparently, this acceptance ended with mutantcy. She saw the disgust in her father's eyes, and the fear in her mothers. And her parents said she would be going away where they could.. fix her, and make sure she didn't hurt anyone else. With visions of experimental labs or isolated cells... Daria vanished, reappeared a mile away, and kept on going.

That was several years ago. During which Daria traveled the world under her own power, and did what she had to do to survive. Some of her actions would have put her in the supervillain category, or even super mercenary, but it all felt so empty. Her idealism had been shattered, but the shards of it, the need to believe in something to have worth, lingered and cut. Then, at age twenty one, she ran into Kinematic. He had heard of a teleporting woman who worked as a smuggler among other things. He explained to her she was not alone though she had been mislead. There was no unity possible between the super powered and the norms; the latter would always fear the former. It was Us Vs Them. But the mundanes had a lot of advantages, numbers, tech, and more. He could use her help.

Where once there was Patriotism, now came ideas of Mutant Supremacy. Whether you hate the mundanes or not wasn't the point, Mutants were at war, a war they didn't ask for, but they had to finish as the victors. The only other options were slavery or genocide. Daria took on the code name Dropzone, recognizing that her chief use for the team would be as transport for the loyal. She can, after all, teleport quite a few people well over a mile at a time, or just herself with greater rapidity and reaction time. She's also learned tricks, like teleporting a bullet so it comes from a different direction or bypasses a barrier. She's even reversed the attacks of others at her back at the attackers. The fact she speaks three languages besides her own (to varying degrees of fluency) and understands some other cultures better also comes in useful. But she has no illusions; it's her powers that make her worthwhile. Oddly, her teleportation always makes targets feel as if they're falling even when they aren't. Yet another reason she took the name "Dropzone"

Ghast

Leo Tygran is a teenage mutant who discovered the ability to go through solid objects and disrupt electronics when attacked by a Minutemen robot on patrol sent by the IHA in search of Death (a powerful homeless mutant with strong "death touch" powers, see the IHA book). Leo basically saved a cell of Kinematic unknowingly and accepted his call for advanced training.

Leo is slowly developing other effects which happen when he phases into things.

Any resemblance to Shadowcat is not intended, really.

The Weatherman

Carl Weathers (and yes he is named after the actor) is an African American who found he could control meteorological conditions. The more he practiced the better he got but he had to use his powers in secret as there were those who would kill 'freaks' i.e. mutants and particularly non Caucasian mutants. Soo he learned to fly and that made his control over his powers more focused and better. He does not trust Kinematic that much but he seems to be the only one taking action.

Any resemblance to Cyclops is deliberate.

Battery

David Allen Scott comes from Kinematic's own alternative Earth and worships everything about him. He can also empower the powers of any other mutant he touches, as long as he touches him.

Any resemblance to Trevor Fitzroy is kinda like looking into a funhouse mirror, right?

Tribble, it's your choice if we continue to 12 or create a new team.

Any resemblance to steriaca, well, like looking into a funhouse mirror.

Considering that I live in West Alise, Milwaukee Wisconsin, the birthplace of Liberace I say thea, nay.

It does sound somewhat like Elvis, though.  Martial arts, dance moves, musical sonic attacks.  Perhaps one his many imitators developed powers?  :)

I had a vivid dream one time about Jack Kirby drawing a comic about the adventures of Elvis in a setting that looked suspiciously like a mashup of Kamandi, Devil Dinosaur, New Gods and something about a generation ship/cosmic ark deal.  One King drawing another.

So I might be predisposed to super-Elvis as a concept.

Intensively Radioactive Man !

This mutant is one of the deadliest in the world when they activate their powers so Kinematic only asks for them sparingly. When they turn on their power waves of deadly radiation flood out knocking people on unconscious at best and leaving them with deadly radiation poisoning, if not dead, at worst. They seem ambivalent about the whole Mutant rights thing but as thy can be targeted for death because of their power they can often help Kinematic.

Any resemblance to J Jonah Jameson is purely coincidental.

I admit, when I put up dropzone I had kind of missed the tongue in cheek 'any resemblance' bit. I am actually thinking of filling out  Kinematic's Group for my games so I figured this would be a good place to put up an idea or two.
Then I realized I missed a part of the theme :o

Still, for my own records, let me add...

Doctor Revelation
Riza Mendoza was born Philippines though she did some college in the United States. She proved to be a talented biologist, and had a fascination with genetics. She hoped to learn what she could to return to her home country and help one day reduce birth defects. She knew OF mutants, of course, but rather than finding them offensive or frightening ,she found them fascinating. She even wondered what it would be like to be one?
It turned out, she was.  At least, she showed up on Mutant Detectors. She discovered this back when Genocide was still intact, mutant hunter robots and all! Despite her lack of powers, or even any cosmetic differences the human eye could tell, a Genocide robot in battle with a group of mutants turned and fired on her! She was rescued, and that's how she stumbled upon IMAGE. The mutant terrorists were hardly high ranked in their organization. They were bizarre and strange... and beautiful.
Riza saw them, and knew they were the future. This was like viewing God's dream manifest, infinite genetic diversity in infinite combinations. The trauma of the attack on her had done nothing to manifest her abilities. She knew it normally happened in puberty. She had aged out at a mere twenty five years of age it seemed. The IMAGE folks had little time for her, and she, while skilled, was hardly crucial to their cause as she had no powers to bring so they warned her of GENOCIDE and.. left.
Riza threw herself into genetics with even greater gusto, earning her doctorate, and learning all she could of the cutting edge of the science, even going so far as to learn what she could from the black market of Teleios' techniques. Her own mutation was dormant, but what was dormant could be awakened.  Risking her life, she experimented on herself, and nearly died from the shock to her body. The days after the experiment, she realized she had triumphed! Her mutant powers were hardly earth shaking, but they were there. She was strong, she was agile! She felt full of energy, and indeed, her body was now athletic and toned. Of course, it was also covered in green fur. GLORIOUS green fur all over her body, soft and sleek. Her eyes were of a lovely radiant red. Further study would soon show she had also extended her lifespan, but by how much she didn't know.
By the time she had done all this, GENOCIDE was gone, the IHA arose to take its place, and sadly, IMAGE seemed to be dust. Then she heard of Kinematic. of his call, and his crusade. He sought out allies, but she? She found him! While now more nimble than a howler monkey and stronger than an elephant, Dr. Riza's greatest power remained her intellect and scientific skill. It was no trouble for her to salvage and improve a mutant tracker of her own. And she had an offer for Kinematic no other could give him.
"So many of our brothers and sisters are sleeping, merely having dreams that they're homo sapiens sapiens. I can awaken them from that sleep, show them who they really are. Let me work with you, and we will help them embrace the same Revelation I have. In time, I'll get you your army!"
Kinematic was no fool. He dubbed her Dr. Revelation, and put her to work.
The experiments don't always work. Indeed, there is a chance of death during the operation for any dormant mutant, and they don't always gain combat ready powers. Mutants come in great and small, after all. But Doctor Revelation continues to refine her work. One day, she'll have a high success rate, and every volunteer who wants to wake up to their true potential will make it! When the numbers shift, the old human men clinging to the past will finally be overwhelmed by the many children of a bright and diverse mutant future!

(And to fit in better this time, there's obviously NO resemblance to Beast/Dark Beast, or even a redeyed Mister Sinister because Doctor Revelation is GREEN and a lady. Totally different, go away Marvel Legal team)

The Possum

This mutant has a very odd power. When threatened they turn into a human sized possum and run up a tree or nearby structure. They turn and look at their opponents who then seem paralysed and cannot harm them as they look so cute. This helps others who can then also run away.

Any resemblance to Frank Castle aka The Punisher is entirely coincidental.

Kith & Kin
The Mutant gene runs strong in the Goggin family and they are plentiful. While born of Appalachian poor, one couldn't deny their wealth when it came to breeding true. The family has three sons, and four daughters and each seems to be a mutant or shows good signs of aging into it. One of the older boys, Silas, had joined Kinematic's cause a few years ago, and used his superstrength for the mutant cause. Sadly, Silas was slain by PRIMUS agents, or so Kinematic told the family when he returned with the body for burial.

No one kills a Goggin and sleeps easy at night.  The next oldest set, twin girls Bobbi May and Bobbi Sue, paid their respects, and then went to avenge their brother with their mama's blessing. They had powers too, you see, though quite a bit different.
Bobbi May could create four duplicates of herself, connected as one by a powerful mental link. She took the name Kith because she was never without friends. Bobbi May's powers often have her more as support, but you don't come from a large family without learning how to scrap, and she's studying formal martial arts to add to it. More than one surprised PRIMUS agent has found himself literally surrounded, ganged up on, and pounded into the dirt by Kith.

Kin, that is Bobbi Sue, has the ability to mimic any other mutant's power up to a point as long as she gets close enough to touch them. She stays looking like herself unless altered looks are part of the mutation, but many do get surprised when they find their own. After she touches them, she might as well be kin, powerwise. Ironically, she cannot duplicate Kith's power of self replication nor any other member of the Goggin family. Dr. Revelation finds that fascinating.

Their usual M.O is for Kin to join all of Kith's copies, the latter allowing her an easier time of touching a foe so Kin can mimic whover's power in the confusion, then cut loose.
The two (or is it six?) have become very effective under Kinematic's direction. They have mixed feelings about it, however. For Kin? She's not used to having this much power, because she can easily mimic others serving Kinematic with their blessing. She's becoming a bit of a bully to any poor mundanes. She's become super loyal to Kinematic who sees her worth.

Kith, however, is less comfortable with this. Oh, she wants to do right by family and avenge her fallen brother. But she's starting to wonder if Kinematic's story of Silas' death isn't quite matching up right. Maybe the man has been completely honest, but maybe not. If the facts are the latter, and Bobbi May finds out Kinematic left her brother to die and only came back for the body to motivate them for more Goggin blood?

She might well turn on him, risking a fight of Kith against Kin, with Kin well fueled by a stranger's power.

(Ignore any resemblance to any families surnamed Guthrie)

Firefight

The nominal commander of the group is Firefight. He can produce fire which he can then blast at people as if it came out of a gun. So it can be like a single pistol shot, rapid fire like a machine gun, long range like a rifle or explosive like a bazooka. He wears a protected costume which is especially protected against the cold. Firefight is immune to fire which has caused opponents to blast cold at him which he hates with a passion. Being the leader of this bunch of kooks is a bit of a poisoned chalice. Possum is useless in a fight; Any Old Iron can't go near water; The Weatherman has to kept away from Any Old Iron and his loyalty is suspect; the twins have differing values; Battery and Dropzone are too indoctrinated; Dr Revelation is too obsessed and let's not mention the walking nuclear disaster.

It is obvious that Firefight was in the military but he won't say which one.

As Kith and Kin count as two that makes 12 so

NT: A choice

do people want a Pulp team, robots ! jetpacks ! and The Golden Scorpion (which I will do);

A team of werebeasts (which we have not done);

Similarly sharks;

And spiders;

The Sea Lab where various aquatic monstrosities were created (inspired by prodigyduck's pieces on Deviantart). You either do the scientists or the beasts they made.

Republicans. These are enemies of the Centurions group which are based on the Roman Empire. I'll post a link back and include names that would mean something to Roman history buffs.

or The Society of Skulls.  This organisation always has a skull on the uniform like the Punisher. One has an oversized skull helmet that sits on the shoulders so you do not see the neck at all. Another is a humanoid figure that looks like it wears olden armour and carries a sword. And the Skull himself who is a giant human skull. At least 6 feet from the bottom of the jaw to the top of the cranium. It can fly and talk. And again I'll do that one.
