Re: Academy of Super Villain awards: The Monnies

Well, there would be seperate catagories for individuals and teams.

"Most money stolen, individual'

"Most money stolen, team"

"Most 'heroes' humiliated, individual"

etc.

So, most money stolen (year), most heroes humiliated, most successful evil plot, most prison escapes, largest object stolen, most hostages, best monologue, best one liner, best costume, most terrifying, most money stolen in single crime,

I am thinking MINOR villains like Doctor Mantis would be the sort attending, hopeing to be recognized. How about "best theme crime" for a crime that fits the villain' theme? Like Egghead stealing a golden egg?

This could be good hook for a weird crime spree in your hero's city. Lots of wacky villains are stealing things based on their theme in hopes of being nominated.

The only villains that would be interested in this concept would be the second and third tier villains since the first stringers already have several avenues of recognition. As for what the award would look like - how about villain smashing some unnamed hero. However this award ceremony would have an extremely difficult time taking off since any villain not honored would feel slighted and let everyone know in a manner that would be appropriate to the villain.

yeah but major-league a**holes could still participate:

Accepting the award for Destroid tonight is his robot, UNIT-4775

or

The award for best Military Crime has gone to {envelope} Gravitar!

who will give us her acceptance speech

via teleconferencing from an undisclosed location....

seems like participation would be limited by personality, rather than "bigness"

would the academy award trophies to Mechanon? in absentia ?

Just to make some villains get an award and not attack the awards they could get Very specific to get winners..."and the award for best anti-UNTil crime by a non-human entity of earthly origin with feathers goes to... UV Sparrowhawk!"

Scum and villians welcome to the first annual fiend awards. Before we begin we'd like to thank the Warlord for his generous loaning of 1,000 attack robots in case anyone should prove a poor sport. And now to present the fiend awards for Best escape from superheros, and most improved thief here are Binder and Bluejay.

Along the lines of "Best Supporting Actor/Actress" and all those behind-the-scenes type awards, you could have Minion categories as well.

"The award for Most Creative Use of Hostages this year goes to ... VIPER Team Leader Copperhead-1! I gotta say, ordering his troops to change into civilian clothing and then getting the heroes to "free" them and let them go was a stroke of brilliance!"

"And accepting the posthumous award for Best Show of Chutzpah tonight is the widow of DEMON Agent Lucifer-6..."
