So again our school had the once every two year travel club voyage (SJET Sir John Europe Trip), and this year was Italy and Croatia.
 
So first Rome:  The Pantheon, The Piazza Navarro, some Pizza, The Colosseum, the market at the Campo Fiori, the Ponte and Castel San Angelo, some Spaghetti, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and finally St Peters where we went to the top of the DOME!

I can forgive Rey being perfect and a bit bland. Because I like powerful and kind characters. But problem is that this series is becoming more and more like fan fiction inspired young adult books and movies directed at a female audience. 
So not only is she powerful as hell but every characters morality is put around how much or how little they like her. And her relationship with Finn is scrapped to instead focus on Adam Drivers character because in young adult books directed at women the heroine must be with the most powerful man and he must offcourse be good at heart even though he can be a bit rough around the edges. This is a bad fit for Adam Drivers character and Rey to be honest. 
If she is to have a boyfriend I would prefer it would not be a mass murdering psycho.

Yeah, I couldn't add most of the Luke scenes, due to the character assassination.  So, I guess I got 2 scenes left?   (and the opening scene is marred by a LOT of flaws for me)
 
 

Holdo reminded me of the Fairy Godmother from Shrek, only arrogant, snarky, uninspiring, and witholding
I wouldn't be surprised if Episode IX reavels the Knights of Ren are dark side wielding Oompa-Loompas.

My younger daughter (15) jumped up when Holdo died and pumped both arms in the theater yelling "Yes!"
Afterward I asked "You really liked the rebel cruiser jumping to hyperspace right into the dreadnaught. huh?"
She answered, "That was cool, but what I was cheering about was that that annoying biatch died."

Last-minute sacrifices that are supposed to be tragic and noble, and maybe sometimes are, but that you can see coming a long, LONG way off.  Bruce Willis's death in Armageddon jumped out at me in this regard.  The odds of death go up about 10,000% if said character has children or other close family, and are 99.9999% certain if the character shows a picture of their kids (this last one can also apply to non-sacrificial death by any throwaway character who shows his/her teammates a picture of their kids and/or talks about them to any great degree).  Bruce's death also illustrates how you should never, ever promise to come home to your kids after "this job" is done.

"Hero" was a top assassin or master thief but now after a change of heart will use his abilities for good.  Because those skills sets just scream righteous behavior when applied correctly.
 
The villain or hero being able to kill large numbers of people with little apparent consequence (well the villain gets killed in the end by the hero of course).  The police must be too busy issuing traffic tickets to investigate mass killings (except during the aforementioned car chases, because the police can never catch main characters).

The car chase. I tune out every time one starts. Gods, I hate car chases.

I've been a fan of clear bases for my miniatures. I don't usually trim the metal bases, though.
 
 
 
EDIT: These bases work great when rebasing Heroclix or Mage Knight miniatures. There are several videos on YouTube for doing that.

Agree it was a poor movie.  Agree it was nothing like the Luke that I remember...a very disappointing version of the character.  Although, I am also VERY different from the person I was 30 years ago as well.

Definitely agree.  Though, I ended up in a bit of a fight over mentioning similar a bit back on this very thread.   Most of which got taken down, so I'll avoid any more details.
 
I broke a 15+ year drought of avoiding theaters for that abomination, too.  I did gain an appreciation for the prequels, at least  (as long as a Fast-Forward button is available for certain parts)

The character assassination of Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi is disgusting. I now understand why Mark Hamill was trying to warn us fans...and why Disney was desperate to censor him. There are plenty of Star Wars novels that would have made far better films than The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. The Star Wars prequels might be heavily flawed installments (with the exception of Revenge of the Sith), but at least they were attempts at originality with fight scenes that felt fun. I can't help but wonder if the filmmakers inadvertently ruined TLJ with their goal of spreading certain messages to the moviegoers.
