tkdguy got a reaction from Cancer in The Non Sequitor Thread
Valentine's Day is also Ash Wednesday this year. Christians should have a romantic dinner in a vegetarian restaurant (all right, seafood is okay too).
As for those of you who are single, think of all the money you're saving!

Wearing a belt with a three-piece suit is a fashion faux pas, but having your trousers fall down in public is an even bigger fashion faux pas!

I've been surfing the Orion's Arm web project lately. Rather fascinating -- a hard sci-fi space opera setting, set about 10.000 years in the future. The Singularity has come and gone -- and done the same about five times over. Humanity's descendants -- both genetically and culturally -- are mostly ruled over by these S6 archailects who are almost at Clarkeian levels of technology.

tkdguy reacted to tigersloth in My Star Wars/Starfinder Hero System Campaign
I have been running now for just over 2 years a science fiction campaign originally fully based on the Star Wars universe using Fantasy Flights Edge of the Empire game. This morphed into a hybrid Star Wars/Starfinder lore game as i got a bit burned out on the Empire vs rebels stories and wanted to branch out and use the amazing Starfinder lore and setting.
So the players went into Hyperspace and came out somewhere strange? It was in the Pact World System of Starfinder but still with elements of the Star Wars universe somewhat twisted. This helped me reboot the campaign into whatever i wanted as the players do not know the Starfinder lore at all and freed me from Star Wars canon do reshape and use whatever elements I wanted and jettison others if not interesting.
So for example Jabba the Hutt still exists in this new dimension but he currently is trying to establish his crime family on Absalom Station after a messy relocation.
I have just recently also converted the game from Edge of the Empire over to the Hero System as after so much play time the system was showing a lot of cracks and the space combat system never worked how I wanted it to. This thread is going to be me sharing bit and pieces of the campaign as I flesh it out and it continues.

This is for those of us who prefer slug throwers to beams in our SF games.

I read about it as well. Here's the story.
And in other space news, China launches the first surface mission to the moon's far side.

tkdguy reacted to death tribble in A Thread for Random Musings
Have now won 500 games of Microsoft Hearts. Out of 1201 played.
Managed to get back to 41%. Had the chance to possibly get 500 games won before I played 1200 but it was not to be.

Tuesday morning early. Saw a crescent moon and on of the planets near it very bright indeed. Well worth recording.

I think so - but I'm admittedly a biased judge.
Here's one exchange with her I posted in the Quotes of the Week from My Gaming Group thread:
Thank you, but I give myself at best a "B+", more likely a "B" as a dad. Parenting is one of those jobs where most of the tests come before the lessons. But I consider myself extremely lucky that my kids (who are age 26 and almost 23) and I are friends as well as parent/children. They turned out pretty good, despite my influence.

Didn't know if this belonged here, or the Champions thread, But apparently that flying skateboard technology is coming a long way:
