  1. Re: Focus = Too Great a Price Break? This is a key point on being a good GM.
  2. Re: Willing Targets of Mental Powers Of course, you can forgo an Ego roll. Being a willing participant in Hypnosis is just that. Nor do I see how a friendly Mind Control to protect a Brick is an unreasonable thing. Mentalist dueling for control of an individual makes sense to me. We always had a house rule that one mental power could be used to block or jam another in a “body†v. “body†roll, letting the mentalist help his buddies. (I never liked the Ultimate Mentalist BTW, because they changed the rules to limit players, instead of letting the GM do that)
  3. Re: Mutliform and Followers/Bases Yeah, I just think this is one that you leave up to the GM to keep a player from unblancing things. Hero seems to be drifting towards rules to stop players. I think that is the job of the GM. Thanks for all the feedback guys.
  4. Re: Length of a summon Again, this is one of those areas where I disagree with Steve, just like his weird rulings on Damage Shield and Variable Limitations. Since I don't like it, I just do it my way. If you feel compelled to do it the "Offical" way, then buy a "follower" that is your summoned creature. Just give it some limitations. A follower can be built to be slavishly loyal without the extra costs on the summon so the poins can balence out.
  5. Re: Length of a summon Personally, if the Summon is a Slave, I let there be more time for it to be out as a house rule. But, if you feel bound to do it Steve's way, then purchace an assosiated Follower with the Summon, and put some limitations on that.
  6. Re: Mutliform and Followers/Bases So, when Jaguar changes, the part of the Base and SLingshot he paid for shuts down?
  7. Form 1 has 2 Followers a Base, and a really snazzy car. Form 2 has none. I move from Form 1 to Form 2. What happens to my followers, base and car? Can I still access them? I ask, because this seems an easy way to spend lots of points on extras while still having a full 350pt character for fighting.
  8. Re: Character Questionaire I just interview them. For most, I help them figure out what they want to play over the course of an hour. Usually, this results in most of the points being spent, and then they tweak them. Being a therapist, I think talking it out works best for me. The big things I look for are: Character Balance: The character has to be more than a one shot pony so the player feels useful most of the time. Game Balance: The character cannot have a power or something that lets him or her unbalance the game. This includes a character that is too weak or too strong in combat with respect to the rest of the party. Niche Protection: Every character *must* have something speical and unique that he or she can contribute. Otherwise toes get stepped on. i have learned this lesson the hard way.
  9. Re: House Rules? Here are mine. http://www.seenar.com/House%20Rules.htm I figure, it is my game, my rules. I am thinking of adding one that makes overall skill levels cost more.
  10. Anyone have an electronic format of the Item list in 5th Ed FH? I was wanting to play with it for my game, using it as a starting point, and create my own list. It would be great if I did not have to re-type the whole thing. Thanks
  11. Great man. I have some questions, but I need to think them out.
  12. Re: Subluminal Travel Robert L. Forward has done good work on this. Rocheworld (click on name for link) using a light sail. Accleration is low but over long time. The sail detaches on the way and is used to bounce the light back to the ship to decellerate it to the star. For fast travel, Anti-mater or Fusion drives are non-rubber as both should be possible. Clark suggests using a cone of Ice (hexagons, of course) in Songs of Distant Earth that sounds convincing. Hope this helps.
  13. Normal damage. I figured it was less focused.
  14. First, what I meant was, Duplicates do not change per duplication. They are always the same as created. Summons are not like that (with the right advnatage). Second, The whole point of the character is to have Gamelings that run about. If the GM does not want me to have this character he can say so. Third, you are wrong. Duplication is Independent. Steve has said so. Once that duplicate is dead, you lose the points. I suggest you take a nother look at Duplication, specifically, page 101, bottom right, going on to page 102: .
  15. It would seem to me that really long lived people would tend not to progress as fast as us short lived ones.
  16. Practically none. I don't like GURPS, and I don't understand the system well enough to make good conversions of things. Besides, they made Vulcans way to expensive.
  17. It would be great as a PC as long as the team had a ship. One of these would be the pilot, but also have Gamelings that could interact with the other PC's. I see three of them needed to help run the ship, and the fourth can go on away missions. What I would most want is this sort of senerio: PC LEADER: I have a Plan. All we need to do is draw their fire away from us somehow, while we make a break for the shuttle. How can we do that? GAMLING: For once, you could come up with a different plan than offing me! The Gamling runs out drawing fire. POW POW ZAP. While he is roasting, the team escapes to the shuttle.
  18. It depends on the Gameling (as in gamete, since they are a type of seed) summoned. They don't always have to be the same. One reason to use Summon. Other Reasons to use Summon: The summoned creatures are totally loyal, so you can play them as your own character. The summoned gamelings don't get readsorbed. The whole point of a Gameling is to send it off to do things. As a Summon, if they die, no big deal, which is the feel I am going for. (As an aside, I don't think Duplication should automatically be Independent. Maybe as a limitation, but as it is, there is no other way to get the effect I want).
  19. The Kerrinur The Kerrinur have existed as a race among the stars for hundreds of thousands of years. Their homeworld is presumed lost to all, including the Kerrinur you around the galaxy. What is known, is that Kerrinur are scattered across terrestrial worlds throughout the galaxy. The Kerrinur are a odd creature with both the properties of a plant and animal. As adults they are immobile, rooted to one spot for the rest of their lives. This is less of a problem than might be with their ability to spawn Gamelings. Racial Package 6 +3 Body 3 +3 Int 5 Extra Limbs 9 Ambidexterity 5 360* sight 5 regeneration 1 body/day 13 4" stretching: only limbs, no non-combat. 8 LS: Does not sleep, longevity (800 years), safe environment high gravity 8 Summon: Up to 4 Gamlings, very limited group(+1/4), totally loyal (+1), X3 end (-1), extra time: 6 hours (-31/2) 1 charge/week (-21/2), costs end (-1/2) Disadvantages: -12 -6" running -2 -2 inches swimming -25 Physically Immobile and 6400Kg Skills Package: Pilot 4 +3 Lighting reflexes: neural link ship only (-1/2) 3 sys ops 3 navigation 3 combat pilot 3 computer programming 6 mind link: any ship's computer, 0 range (-1/2), neural interface OAF (-1)
  20. As I add stuff I will post it here to keep ya'll up today
  21. I have tables for the phasers: Phaser Chart Phaser Multipower Costs if you want the points. Please use whatever you would like. I hated the First Ed system too, and now second ed is GURPS. Four Stats per character? Yuck. If you have any suggestions, or find stuff that does not work let me know.
  22. Mentor: Use his government and Super contacts to seek help to cure one of his kids! Black Star: Was an alien and it is unlikely that his DNPC would turn into a werewolf (she being the same race as him, a 3' diameter, gravity manipulating, silicon disk). He would have something to say about the weakness of humans when this was someone else's DNPC (and considering one of the players had Icicle, this could be sticky....) Sentinel: Use his superhero contacts to help get the Assistant DA he knows cured before she gets canned. Sunstone: The Alien half of this multiform would work to find a cure. The Former UNTIL agent would seek out old contacts and go on explorations to find a cure. Seenar: Use is great mastery of Magic to solve the problem quickly and effortlessly. When's breakfast?
  23. Same base for players, plus bonus points, often at the behest of the players.
  24. I want my players to be able to win, but not win easily. I have been known to place players into situations where I have absolutely no idea how they are going to get out of it. The best example is having a dragon attacking their tower. I did nor foresee the group Paladin charging the damn thing as it hovered just off the ground and then climbing on its back! Meanwhile other on the team used a dimensional portal to go get help. All very clever. Though the best may have been in a Strikeforce: Moritoi based game where on player suggested stealing a mothballed space ship.
