    As to his "morning magic rituals", I'm not personally fond of putting limitations (especially -2 1/4 worth that don't seem all that limiting) on Talents.  Maybe if the powers / talents are assumed to automatically be Non-Persistent (so they drop if he's KO'd or falls asleep, and he has to re-do the rituals), then it might justify that amount of Limitations.  All I can say is, I wouldn't allow them in my game as-is -- otherwise, by RAW he can cast them once and they could last for days/weeks/months... either until he drops them voluntarily or someone Dispels them.
     
    That said, logically I'd expect the Danger Sense also wouldn't work on hallowed ground, since it seems to me his ghostly girlfriend couldn't be there to whisper warnings in his ear.
     
    Not sure how his girlfriend putting out the lights still allows him to see (the Personal Immunity on the Darkness).
     
    Interesting and overall a cool concept.  But some parts of the actual writeup feel a bit too munchkiny for my taste.  Of course, YMMV.

    as his def comes down at dawn
    while making love the 2 where ambushed and she was killed but John survived
    Her Poltergiest slot would allow her to have a limited touch of John(3 str)

    I'm kinda thinking her name should a mix of loves of both Dresden and Constantine so Karrin(from Dresden) would be her first name
    now a last name from somebody Constantine cared about
    I would leave out Astra Logue   , as the 2nd cartoon series on CW has her being a 10 yr old girl
    Zatanna Zatara is mentioned a few times as a love intrest
    So his girlfriend's name is Karrin Zatara a police detective

    I'm thinking of a tragic love story where he was at least partly responsible for his girlfriend being in her current state and he he would love to free her but can't and his heroic acts are his penance.

    so yes I borrowed from Pizza Man's idea of a haunted character
    I had fun building her as a change enviroment
    this is a fleshed out version of the whole character
    I kinda went with a mashup of Harry Dresden and John Constantine
    as both are haunted by their pasts

    I split up 2 of the effects and modded the base effect
    both have the wind and chill effects to add to the creepy factor
     
    1st I split the stunning effect from the limited TK
    I added area thin cone
    this is more an  agent basher ,as it will make agents crap their skivies w/ fear
    -4 to their roll may catch some Lts also

    I had fun building her as a change enviroment

    Yeah, Beast has the kind of build I'd lean toward, instead of an NPC or a separate build, a set of powers the GM controls and which act outside the characters volition.  Define their special effect as "ghost girlfriend" and you're set with a pretty inexpensive but interesting and useful concept.

    You should restrict the points on villains the heroes face too.  One problem right from the start in Champions was the villains presented were two or three times the starting points of any hero. 
     
    Villains should win because of underhanded tactics and by putting innocents in danger, not because their so powerful they can't be touched.
     
    This isn't The Flash.

    Have you thought about hard caps? Though it sounds though that the main problem is your players like one type of game and you another. Perhaps talk to your group and tell them that you would enjoy having a skill based scenerio  now and again. It’s acknowledged that the GM should hav fun too.

    how many adventures and supplements where done for it is usually a good indicator

    In terms of Hero combat, there's very little difference between a falchion and a gladius.  There are notable differences in real life (different designs are good at different tasks, strong in various areas and weaker in others) but those distinctions are very minimal in terms of combat in an RPG. 
     
    For example, a curved blade will tend not to catch in a victim and get stuck when slashing, but isn't as good at stabbing.  A straight blade stabs well, but does not chop well.   A big heavy blade chops through hard objects well but does poorly against things like ropes where a slim, light blade excels.  Big heavy weapons are more tiring than light ones, but the light ones are more prone to breaking and further are harder to re-sharpen after battle. 
     
    But in Hero terms those distinctions are either not worth the complexity to represent or so minimal they aren't going to show up in the somewhat abstracted combat.
     
    Watch some episodes of Forged In Fire on TV (history channel I believe, I watch it On Demand later on), and you can see demonstrations in various tasks and how the different designs perform.

    If you are dead set on "roll high", then roll the dice, subtract the result from 21 and apply that as the roll using the normal rules.
     
    We still have some abilities that work better if you make the roll by half - how does that work in your model, Sean?

    APG1 has a new Stunning option for Change Environment you should check out.  I've posted more details on older threads of similar topic.
     
    [Notes: From APG1 page 83 - The Stunned effect lasts as long as the Change Environment is maintained (1 Turn*). However, when affected the victim gets to make a CON Roll immediately (at -6*), and if the roll succeeds the attack has no effect on him. If the roll fails, he gets to make an additional CON Roll every Phase he's affected at a cumulative +1 (so +1 on his second roll, +2 on his third, and so on). As soon as any roll succeeds, the power immediately stops affecting him and he has his full Phase in which to act.]
