  1. Re: Taverns and tavern games If you scroll through the free products, there's a few other interesting bits and bobs.
  2. Re: Idea for flashback-driven campaign Sounds vaguely reminiscent of The Adventures of Baron Münchhausen Love to know how that went... seems a difficult game to keep track of!
  3. Re: Make Your Own Motivational Poster Beats the Wookie Jedi. And, I am ashamed to say, my own Eewok Jedi (hey, if a frog-man can become Yoda...)
  4. Re: What do you call "Four Color"? Which of A-C particularly makes it boring for you? What changes do you need to make before it's fun to play in? (Not getting at you, just curious.)
  5. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread Must spread rep The weapon could be a manriki or a surujin if Japanese, or a meteor hammer if Chinese. The "slippers with separate toe" are tabi Love the pose, very dynamic. I agree that the chain would look better if the links were more in perspective, but that would just make drawing them even more fun Looking forward to the coloured version!
  6. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Have a joyous winter solstice festival! Remember, the human sacrifice has to be alive when they go into the flames, in order for the sun to return!
  7. Re: Hero is TK projection of kid in coma
  8. Re: Hero is TK projection of kid in coma
  9. Re: Hero is TK projection of kid in coma In that the kid is (currently) in a coma in a hospital and not in a concrete lead lined bunker, yes
  10. Re: Hero is TK projection of kid in coma Yeah, if he didn't have the Phys Lim, if the kid dies, the projection is still able to act, but won't be able to regenerate if it gets killed. The projection should die when the kid does... Thanks for all the comments, it's been really helpful!
  11. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine Fixed that for you...
  12. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread That's brilliant, and I would rep if I could.
  13. I'm starting up a new game, and one of the character conceptions is rather interesting - the character is a kid who has been put into a coma by the car bomb that killed his parents; the hero is a telekinetic projection of this kid's latent psionic powers. I'll be putting the characters together (they're new Hero players), and I was wondering what thoughts the Hero collective might have on how to actually model this one. My first thoughts are to have the coma-kid as a DNPC, with the Projection being the character, but I was wondering if anyone else had any good ideas.
  14. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Had a nice Chrissy din dins at friends from the Old Country (i.e. the place I was at before moving c. 2 hours south), and they gave me a really nice leather-bound note/sketch book, and let me inherit their bread maker.
  15. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From today's Pathfinder: Half-Orc Fighter Xog: "You had me at 'squishy'."
  16. Re: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen for 2008 Well, no, but it was supposed to read as if it was. And the characters were taken from the material of the 1800's, which were the novels. Also, while the original novels are now out of copyright and the characters public domain, the versions from movie adaptations aren't. That's why the Invisible Man character in the LXG movie had to be a thief who had stolen the invisibility formula, rather than the original Invisible Man himself. Today, the mass media is television and movies, not so much novels - there are plenty of great characters in great novels that don't have the recognition of most mediocre television shows. So I think using TV and Movie characters is entirely legitimate. Of course, your League can have whomever you choose, and it's not like anyone's going to reject any suggestions that just happen to have come from a novel... Speaking of which, I think Remo Williams, a.k.a. The Destroyer, should have a place... he would make a terrifying villain.
  17. Re: Hudson City Blues I don't know enough about 5th ed. Dark Champions to know who to substitute, but I remember most of these guys to give a quick summary, which may help... Artist Arsonist. Believes fire is alive, and is his lover. Minor pyrokinetic powers. Female swashbucker, apparently trying to win the favour of one of the PCs A woman so meek and mild she effectively became invisible. Cannot be sensed by almost any means at all. Can either go the mad terrorist route, trying increasingly grand schemes to just get people to notice her, or the Oracle route, where she helps out sympathetic PCs by gathering information. The Champions Universe version of Azrael Batman. Crazed vigilante, trained by Crusader but now believing criminals must be killed. Mad genius who has decided to end crime in Hudson City forever - by flooding the underworld with cheap guns and encouraging gang wars so the criminals kill each other off. His weapons tend to be booby trapped and equipped with tracking devices so he knows who's doing what to whom. Wealthy and with a host of contacts, he would make a terrifying enemy. Good excuse for the bad guys to have any gear they would otherwise be unlikely to obtain. No idea who these guys are...
  18. Re: Cristmas & Cthulhu If only we could rep Scott Kurtz
  19. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Fishnets, absurdly high heels, spiky leather. And a waist that has no actual room for internal organs. Or perhaps I should read better comics...
  20. Re: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen for 2008 Well, I'm not sure how much Alan Moore was deliberately keeping to Novels, as opposed to Novels being pretty much all there was in that time...
  21. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Today's Pathfinder: Much hilarity when Xog's masterwork silver dagger (which we nicked from someone bad) started tingling. The innuendoes went on for what seemed like hours... We were investigating an evil theatre company performing something they call "The Death Play". I manage to get "volunteered" for the finale, which involved a "Pit And The Pendulum" style descending blade. The audience is to call out "SAVE!" or "DEATH!", depending. Xog, our Half-Orc fighter, did not help by holding up a large sign with "DEATH" written on it... (I maintain that my Escape Artist skill would have gotten me free, even if the friendly nobles hadn't come in with a last-minute "SAVE!" rally. Honest.) Best without context: "Apparently they were load bearing evil undead cultists."
  22. Re: Character for comic and game. Copyright issue? The one thing you're forgetting is that, regardless of whether DC actually has the right to sue you, they have enough lawyers to say they do, and they will be able to afford more of them than you can. You're likely to be safe unless you actually produce a comic with "Solomon Grundy" on the cover. If you title the comic something else (say, "Born on Monday") you're less likely to be hammered. For example (as I understand it), Marvel currently holds the trademark for "Captain Marvel". However, both DC and Marvel have characters called "Captain Marvel". Marvel can have a comic titled "Captain Marvel", while DC has to title their comics starring their Captain Marvel "Shazam!"
  23. Re: Ringers (prompted by the Black Widow thread on Dark Champions) The wheel isn't the clever bit. I'm more impressed with the axle...
  24. Re: What are your HERO stats like? For me: Must find things once I've started looking: Uncommon, Strong Will Scream Incoherently at video games when they "cheat": Uncommon, Strong
