  3. Re: How to make a Taser So handy to have around! No home should be without one! And for this limited time you can have the Taser 3-Pak! 1 6-year old child, 1 police chief and a civil rights activist for only $19.95. But wait there's more! Act now and we will throw in this fantabulous Pasta Wand, pasta server, and a set of steak knives!

    GM's "rights"

Re: GM's "rights" Hello!?! Isn't that Rule 4 in the GMs Handbook? You know, that just triggered a humorous thought...the 10 Commandments of GMing. HA. Time to start a thread.
  5. Re: Well blow me down What I like about this construct, is that it neatly gets around the "Adjustment Powers Take Effect After a Linked Attack" rule. Its much neater and simpler than TK, x2 KB EBs, Flight UAA etc. I've already retrofitted three or four characters with this construct.
  6. Re: Force Field Limitation Well poo. It should be a standard advantage.
  7. Re: Mental Transforms? I'm not so sure I agree. The MC "I am your wife" would cause the character to make you dinner, get kisses on the cheek and presents on Valentines Day. Depending on the SFX and GMs rule, the character may actually remember you as his wife...or he may realise after the MC is over that he was treating some weirdo as his wife. At any rate, the only effect MC could have on memory is during the action period of Mind Control. Mental Transforms, OTOH, have no such restrictions. They could go back and change any or all your memories in in/significant ways. But I do agree, the base effects in this case are rather similar (as the EB/RKA above or CI/Images creating light etc). For me, it all comes back to concept. If someone wants to control another person (and alter memories for the time period in question) they buy MC. If they want to muck around in someone's brain and tinker...that's a MT. But it would be humorous to have FoxBat running around screaming "WHERE'S MY SECRET SERVICE AGENTS? I AM YOUR COMMANDER IN CHIEF, OBEY ME!" Oh, almost forgot. I grabbed my 4th Ultimate Mentalist. It does go into quite a bit of granularity with MC and Mental Transforms. While this is certainly no guarantee, I can't see Steve providing less in the new version than in the old (especially in an area that clearly begs for expansion).
  8. Re: Well blow me down I've long thought x2 KB was overpriced. But I have only had a player or two with x2 KB over the years so never worried too much about it. I've got lots of villains with x2 KB but I don't need to worry about points for them. Considering mitigating factors: - Most characters don't have any KB resistance. - KB has the potential to nearly double the dice done with an attack by slamming the target into an object Factors in favour of a cost change: - KB is a really poor way to do damage: it requires a hard surface/object and good aiming of the attack. - The loss of BODY to calculate KB (-2d6 or -3d6 depending on Normal/Killing) really decreases the amount of potential KB - Given the loss in BODY (as directly above), it is cheaper to purchase additional DC (and more certain) It's another one of those powers/modifiers that really skates to line (not like Killing Attacks which are perfect and don't need changing and everyone agrees on ) on usability. For me, it comes down to pure SFX. If that's the effect you are looking for (increasing the pushing force of the attack) you lump it. If you are trying to sneak in a couple extra dice of damage, it works best to just buy the extra dice. I could easily see x2 KB being lowered to +1/2...but am not too stressed at its current +3/4.
  9. Re: Thank you I'm all verklemt (sp?).
  10. Re: Force Field Limitation I have an energy blast that is made of air. It's my air energy blast. Because it's made of air and you can't see air, my energy blast is invisible. Right? WRONG. SFX cannot be used as an end-run around IPE. The construct of the power must justify the SFX. Not the other way around.
  11. I was putting some more characters into HD and have a question. Remoray was a common thug that was used as a guinea pig and mutated with eel DNA. He has LS: Underwater Breathing, 10" Swimming, 15" Running and Environmental Movement: Underwater. Environmental Movement (FREd, pg 64) states "they may move, act, fight in the chosen environment as if they were born to it -- with their full movement rates, CVs and Skill Rolls." Now I know this sounds silly, but does this mean he would get his full 15" of Running Underwater? I am also assuming that underwater running would require him to be in contact with a surface, neh? The main reason I ask is that Underwater Running seems to be a different kettle of fish (get it!?! get it!?! ) than Running on Ice as in some of the examples. Thanks!!
  12. Re: Force Field Limitation Lo and behold!! I was just typing another character into HD and found this little Advantage +1 Can Add/Remove Adders (FREd p 75). Figures Stever would have thought of it. You want to talk about a Rules Lawyer? HA! I slay me. Yeah...ok...it's late.
  13. Re: Force Field Limitation Now there is a concept I haven't seen in YEARS. The big strong brick with the little moppet on his shoulder.
  14. Re: grab and str contest I was thinking kind of the same thing...but mine were NINJA TROLLS!
  15. Re: Cyber-Horror HERO Take out the cyberware part and that IS my campaign!! I would suggest lowering the point totals though. We are much more enjoying ourselves with heroic level characters than superheroic.
  16. Re: Super Heros...almost Kind of. My current campaign is a Chill Hero (or Buffy the Vampire Hero as we refer to it) and is built on 100 + 100 characters. The vast majority of pts are spent on characteristics and skills. DEFs are pretty low and guns are pretty big and scary. We're having a buttload of monkey fun!
  17. Re: Champions Clix Mods Years back, when I converted to Hero, I gave all my D&D stuff to my cousin. Hundreds of painted and unpainted minis, books...the whole kit and kaboodle (with exception to my dice). I REALLY enjoyed painting minis. It was very relaxing and a good way to keep my hands busy and my mind distracted. But I never even considered modding them. I've been debating on whether I want to get back involved in it. If I did want to start playing with modding, any suggestions on where to start? Thankee.
  18. Re: Move Through/Move By Question: Does movement take time?
  19. Re: Move Through/Move By Question: Does movement take time? There is a tabletop spaceship battle game I just LOOOOOVE called Silent Death. In Silent Death, the person with the highest initiative goes last. This allows you to see what everyone else is doing first and then react appropriately and certain damage phases all happen concurrently. Using this as a premise, and it could take some extra work on your part: For a single phase, the person with the lowest DEX announces their action (just announces, no dice rolling yet). The person with the second lowest DEX announces their action...on up the line. The person with the highest DEX announces their action. Then all effects kick-in simultaneously. I could see something like this having merit. It would need some hefty play testing, there are probably some tweaks here and there to smooth things out. But I think this would more closely (ie realistically) represent the actions during a single phase.
  20. Re: Mental Transforms? Oh Oh! Can I play!?! Lets see: Cosmetic: Alter a memory of an inconsequential act (eg Making you think you went to BK for dinner and not MickeyDs). For me this still equates with the Standard Cosmetic Transform of "Look-my-shirt's-green." Minor: Alter a specific memory or group of memories. The first person you ever fell in love with (the one we all still have a speical place in our hearts for) is actually the main villain in a storyline. Your memory is altered to make you think you're French (man, that shoud be an EB NND BOECV DOES BODY...thats just too mean). Major: Alter the entire mind. You're a pigeon! Then you sit back and watch the character bash his nose into the ground eating seeds.
  21. Re: "How to" Transform Question. In theory. How many story lines have involved a character attempting to read a spellbook that they found lying around? The deciphering is also going to be a Skill vs SKill roll. The higher the Crypto, the more "unreadable" it becomes. It would come down to a GMs call, but I suppose could CT it into a picture of fluffy bunnies. "Apprentice! Get me the scroll of Bismol's Bowel Loosener!" "Which one is it, oh prestidigious master?" "The one with the fluffy white bunnies." Keep in mind, Hero doesn't do absolutes. You can't be Bulletproof. You can't be Invulnerable to Fire.
  22. Re: Goodbye Washington DC I'm not even going to rise to the bait. I've got better things to spend my time on than people who just don't get it.
