  1. Re: Superhero Images Different strokes, I guess.
  2. Re: Superhero Images So's providing nice, big images that others can scale down if they wish. For a quick pick, a small image is better, but if you're offering it up to people to use, a larger image offers more options.
  3. Re: Global Guardians PBEM: 3 Immediate Openings Jack, did I miss this on the GGU Admin list? And where will this team be based?
  4. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Rob's morning: Amidst frustrating work projects and hectic day-to-day life, Rob sees an announcement in his inbox that there's a new post on the Storn's Art thread. Aha! Could it be new art from Storn? Something to brighten the morning? He quickly clicks on the link and sees this: Slumping his head, smacking his forehead against his desk, he deletes the announcement and goes back to work...

    PBEM Openings

Re: PBEM Openings Uh, yeah, I said that. It just somehow got jammed on the same line as Pharaoh.

    PBEM Openings

Re: PBEM Openings Since I've gotten questions about it. For people wanting to know which 90-point active powers have been "taken," please look at the available sheets. At a quick look, I've identified the following: From Guardians 1: Gunmetal has 90 points in Armor Tachyon has a 9 SPD Raptor basically has 90 points tied up in CV. From Guardians 2: Aurora has a 90-point EB Faith has 90 points in Flight Oracle has a 90-point Mind Scan Pharaoh has a 90-point Change Environment Vindicator has a 90-point Absorption Since there are no openings for Guardians 3, and those wouldn't impact the new opens slots, I'm not including them.

    PBEM Openings

Clarification: Global Guardians Campaign Openings Just to be clear on the process for submitting characters to the Guardians1 and Guardians2 campaigns: All characters will be submitted to Jack Butler in the method he mentioned in his earlier e-mail. I’m happy to talk about character concepts, but the final submissions should go to Jack, not me. All submissions, unless otherwise specified, will be reviewed for the openings in both campaigns. (As far as I’m concerned, Jack will have first dibs to fill his open slot. I’ll fill the three holes in the Guardians1 campaign from the remaining submissions.) As a reminder, here are the submission guidelines: If you are interested in applying, please send character sheets and backgrounds to jack@globalguardians.com. Jack will take submissions in Microsoft Word, plain text, and Hero Designer files (although we’d appreciate it if the Hero Designer files were accompanied by a text file containing just the character's background). All submissions must be in by midnight, U.S. Eastern Standard Time, on December 13. For more information on character building guidelines, visit the campaign page: http://www.globalguardians.com/campaigns/globalguardians.php
  9. Re: Firefly HERO Website Up At a glance, this is a great-looking site with great information and some nicely written discussions of the characters. A minor point: One thing you might want to look into is running a spell-check, particularly checking to make sure that you've got the characters' names spelled correctly. For example, it should be "Malcolm," not "Malcom" and "Shepherd," not "Shepard." Great site. Thanks.
  10. Re: WWYCD:The Facts of Life Bandit would try to work his charms on the sexy but distant Blair, hoping to break through her icy exterior. Danny would likely strike up a conversation with the brainy Natalie, not out of hopes of dating an older woman, but because he would find her to be the most interesting. Captain Coca-Cola would likely be drawn to no-nonsense tomboy Joe. An older (reunion-aged) Tootie would probably be quite attractive to Barnstormer, who would make slow overtures toward her. Wait, did you mean some different Facts of Life?
  11. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Okay, this one hasn't popped up in any of my campaigns, but it came into my mind the other day and I can't think of anywhere else to use it. FIGHTER: You're talking to a myconid? ROGUE: Hey, he's actually a fungi. [You might want to say it out loud...]
  12. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... And ditto again.
  13. Re: WWYCD: The Arc Man, I'd really been hoping that these threads had died out.
  14. Re: Character Background that I want to share... I'm afraid that I don't follow the action in the last few paragraphs. So the "kid" is dying, but the fairy godmother can't save him? And instead she, what, sleeps with him? And has a child who becomes Luke? Who has fairy godmother powers? Am I even close? I'm afraid that this is pretty unclear from the writing here. The idea of a man with fairy godmother powers reminds me a bit of a character from Robert Asprin's Myth Adventures series--Don Bruce, the "fairy" godfather who is a gay mafia don who wears lavender.
  15. Re: Have you ever taken a fall? Very cool story (and a cool name, by the way). Rep to you! This also sounds like a great opportunity to motivate the injured villain (likely horribly scarred) to have a real grudge against Dr. Anomaly. Being "soul rended" could even qualify as a radiation accident, couldn't it? This reminds me a little bit of an event in the face to face game I GM. The resident super mage, attempting to coerce a COIL agent into spilling his guts, transported him to a remote mountain cave in another dimension, leaving him there until he "changed his ways." Ultimately, the agent--consumed by hatred--entered into a trance state and stumbled onto a ritual that basically made him immune to magic. He's been a hunter of the PC ever since.
  16. Re: "Essential" Graphic Novels / Trade Paperbacks
  17. Re: Good "Four of a Kind"'s... Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, Spades? Winter, Summer, Fall, Spring? The Four Winds? Four horsemen (also cliched, but hey) Those are just a few off the top of my head...
  18. Re: Does your Team have a Charter? There are some neat scenes dealing with the Avengers' charter in the first issue of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, at your friendly neighborhood comic shop now. It's a great read.
  19. Re: GGU Email Server Down... Again
  20. Re: What graphic novels should I get? Here are some of my favorites: Batman: The Long Halloween Batman: Dark Victory Batman: Haunted Knight The Golden Age Marvels Batman: Year One Any Starman Any Astro City Any Wildcats by Joe Casey Any JSA by Geoff Johns Teen Titans: A Kid's Game JLA: New World Order JLA: Year One Outsiders: Looking for Trouble Any Powers Camelot 3000 Watchmen Ultimate Spider-Man Stormwatch: Change or Die The Authority (first two TPBs) Any Planetary Any Nightwing by Chuck Dixon Legion of Super-Heroes: The Great Darkness Saga No offense, but I'd avoid the No Man's Land and "broken back" Batman graphic novels. The stories weren't terrible, but there are a lot better and more cohesive graphic novels out there.
  21. Does the Expert Skill Enhancer "stack" with other appropriate Skill Enhancers? For example, let's say a character has the Traveler and Expert: Russia Skill Enhancers. Would AK: Moscow get the one-point discount from each of the skill enhancers, meaning that he could get a 3-point AK (say a 13- roll) for 1 point? Just curious. Thanks.
  22. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. WOW!!! Worth the wait, all three of them! Thanks, Storn!
  23. Re: Superhero Images I agree--this is a cool thread. But why start a second one when one serves just as well? Additional threads would clutter the boards (like all those $#$# WWYCD threads) and make it harder to find any particular messages you might be looking for?
