  1. Re: Re: Armored Core HERO hmmmmm.........
  2. I know it has been mentioned before, but has anyone done any writeups of the Armored Core series for HERO?
  3. Considering many combats are finished in five turns or thereabouts; especially one-on-one duels (ala Goku vs Freeza), that shouldn't be a problem. Goku and Freeza both seem to have incredible speeds, and therefore plenty of phases. I figure they'd both have a phase on every segment. I know they throw a lot of punches, but if you consider how fast they're moving... Also, didn't their fight last a lot less than 4 minutes? Back on topic: If the attack takes 4 minutes to completely destroy the planet, and 1 Turn = 12 second-long segments = 5 turns per minute. Therefore, 4 minutes would equal 20 turns.... more than enough time to fight the final battle....
  4. Re: Enough Power to Destroy A Planet? Check Out Star HERO page 197. IDHBWM, but I believe with accounting for doubling of size, and if you count it as being made up of stone (19 BODY, 5 DEF), it comes out to something like 177 BODY or RKA 51d6.
  5. First, determine if the conditions are ripe for life to evolve. In other words; enough CO2 and the right climate thats not so hot for a runaway greenhouse. If life has evolved, convert the atmosphere. Then, refigure the climate according to the changes in atmosphere composition. Check SH page 87. (about halfway down the first column). I too struggled with this, and once I caught on, I sp[ent a lot less time creatin planets. Hope this helps.
  6. Pre roll anything that you can. 3d6 rolls are used a LOT, so get a bunch of those done. Also, for any weapons that the PCs or NPCs have, pre roll those as well at least 30 or so times. I would recommend a dice roller or spreadsheet program. There's a link to a dice roller under the 'free stuff' section IIRC. If you decide to use a spreadsheet, I recommend QuattroPro. Excel works good also, but QP works better for random numbers. In either case, just print them up. Then ANY time a die roll is needed, just take the next one off the list, and cross it off. Saves a HUGE amount of time.
  7. Re: Victoriana Do you have a link?
  8. Sapphire is a subject I won't touch, because I'm just not sure whether I like her or not. Come to think of it, I never liked Quantum to begin with, so I guess maybe anything would be an improvement. As to why the characters had to be replaced; I remember seeing elsewhere on the boards that there were various copyright issues that prevented the current incarnation of Hero Games from using certain characters. I'm not sure if Defender's "copy rights" were bought up or just passed down, but any team called the Champions would have to have him. It would BE the Champions without Defender.
  9. How bout a Physical Limitation: Must Breed ?
  10. Re: Re: psionics update Is that "Woring" with a "k" or with a "h"?
  11. There's a great Digital Hero Article in the DH archives. I think it was called "Scenario Design; a quick method". I've used the method detailed therein many times, with great success. As others have noted in their posts to this thread, adventures IMO should be fluid and flexible "like water", because the PCs will ALWAYS do something unexpected.
  12. Personally, I think such a forum would be a huge waste of time; not just for Steve, but for all of us. First off, a pretty hefty chunk of the boards is taken up by debates over topics such as Damage Shield, STR being too cheap et cetera. Second, if such a thing were to become a Digital Hero article or column, it would take up space that could be used to provide game source material as it has been. The Discussion Boards provide a place to; ask questions, poll opinions, mine for ideas, and yes--debate topics. Providing a unified forum specifically for the purpose of deabting topics-that-no-one-can-agree-on wouldn't stop them from being discussed all over these boards as they already are.
  13. How about a trumped up telepathy, receive only, linked to a 1d6 RKA with an increased STUN multiplier?
  14. I lost the URL for the site in the "favorites" section of my browser, but for online advice for world creation, inspiration and all-around blockage,...lookup "A Way With Worlds". I found that site once on a Google search, and it has helped me immensly. As for print media dealing with writer's block, pretty much anything from the writing section of your local Borders, Waldenbooks, or Barnes and Nobles. Two specific titles I can recommend; 1) Zen And The Art Of Writing; by Ray Bradbury (a VERY cool book) 2) Writing Down The Bones; by Natalie Goldsmith (Highly recommended by most writers that I've met) I hope this helps.
  15. I'd hang a sign sround his neck that reads; "Robots are(expletive deleted)". Then I'd call Mechanon and run like all bloody hell.........
  16. Hmmm.....let's see....NPCs based on music Well..... Dr. Feelgood Sweet Child Master Of Puppets Ironhead Tailgunner That's all I got for now......
  17. Thanx for the response, all. Basically I was looking for a rundown of "How much does this job make and what is required for me to hold it" kind of thing. Something similar to the (((shudders)))) GURPS 'job list'. I'll defnately be checking out those college job placement sites.
  18. Okay, so I'm getting ready to run my first campaign (in a long time) and I started reading up on money. I've checked out a few threads on the boards, as well as FREd, Star HERO, and the BBB. I understand that in Champs games, if you can reasonably have it, espcially on a middle class income, then there you go. But if it gives you Powers (i.e. a focus such as a gun or laser cannon) then you have to pay points. And in a heroic-level game, Star HERO for example; almost all of your 'powers' are bought as equipment that can break, be stolen, damaged etc. Well, it occurred to me that most characters are people too. They have lives and most will have jobs. This is how they pay the bills. so I guess my problem is this; ... what to tell the players when they start asking questions about "how much do I make?" To which I will almost always reply "Well, what do you do for a living when you're not running around in spandex tights (or ferro-plast armor, or sentient starships)?"
  19. Metagenic Ordinance and Federalized Operatives
  20. Entangle ??d6, 1 Non-Recoverable Charge, Entangle Only Has 1 BODY
  21. It all depends on how you handle the "by coincidence" premise. Obviously, the players are always going to be 'in the same place' to some degree. To wit, say they're all in the city going about their business when each of them (not all at exactly the same time, unless that's what you want) witnesses a crime in progress being perfoormed by agents of the campaign villain at different locales. Tracking the agents down will lead them to the other PCs..... But i think i get your point. It would be kind of odd to have 4 or 5 complete strangers with superpowers happen to sit at the same table in a public cafeteria for no particular reason. ("okay, so your in a bar when a mysterious old man walks up to you.....")
  22. Maybe that's 'cause he has a habit of showing up with Mordenkainen and raiding the fridge......
  23. Kahless is rolling around in his grave.......
  24. Maybe this would help? http://www.kleimo.com
  25. The list is finally up on the website. Please bear with me though, as the site is still very much under construction.
