  1. I think Harris would annihilate Trump in a debate. She can put him off balance and off his game with ease, just by tweaking his ego here and there, walking him into traps.
  2. The concern, from the Democratic perspective, is that Republicans have opted, in the face of demographic changes coming in the electorate, not to adjust their message and substantive policy to be more broadly appealing, but to essentially game the system or even rig the game to maintain minority control of state governance(and of Congress) by any available or necessary means, including gerrymandering via computer, using a citizenship question to suppress Latinx reporting on the Census survey, using "voter id cards" which are not particularly easy to obtain for people of limited means, playing games with voting machines/hours etc to effectively suppress votes in Democratic precincts, in order to preserve and maintain a hold on power for as long as possible. The tyranny of minority rule, so to speak, or at least that's the Democratic case against these measures.
  3. I think Warren and Castro did the best in the first debate tonight. Beto had kind of an off night, imo.
  4. Because of differences of scale, duration and quality of treatment. Anyone who treated the children of detainees the way they are currently being treated would be out of a job in the prior administration.
  5. There were concentration camps before and after the Nazis...put a group of "undesirables" into detention facilities, concentrating them there. Deprive them of many basic necessities, treat them poorly...even without forced labor or a program of extermination, some of them will die from disease and neglect. But, as many others have observed, "the cruelty IS the point."
  6. Just an observation...regardless of protestations over the connotations thereto, the technically correct term IS "concentration camps". George Takei, somewhat of an expert on the topic due to personal experience, has it right.
  7. A professional makeover, including hair and makeup, combined with "sexy outfit"--(e.g., sexy designer dress, push up bra, high heels)--could make someone stand out. On a side note, male photo models often "pump up" and dehydrate a bit before photo shoots, to make their muscles larger and more defined to be more appealing. It's fair to say there's a plethora of both short term and mid to long term techniques and "tricks" to appear more attractive to others.
  8. "A biscuit for my furry friend. Just put it on my bill."
  9. I find that conservatives generally have a very poor understanding of the internal politics of the Democratic party, and of the particular distinctions in left of center ideologies as well. Many, for example , see little distinction between Biden and Warren ideologically, and only marginally distinguish Sanders' policies from "mainstream" Democratic policies(and exaggerate the extent to which he differs, at that.) Some of this is due to a kind of information cocoon that many conservatives immerse themselves in--Fox/Info Wars/Breitbart/World Net Daily/Daily Caller/NY Post/WSJ/Limbaugh/Hannity are the only "valid" sources of news, and they aren't exactly bending over backwards to explain, "Well, actually, Democrats aren't all communists out to eliminate your freedoms and take all your stuff..."
  10. https://newrepublic.com/article/154113/democratic-party-fighting-spirit-give-war-chance Interesting hypothesis on what ails the Democratic party establishment.
  11. I believe Titan is the furthest satellite or planetary object which would be regarded as remotely habitable. So, beyond that, you'd probably have some kind of deep space outpost out around the Uranian/Neptunian/Plutonian orbits, then some periodic unmanned probes sent into the Kuiper belt and Oort Cloud. Presumably everyone's working on FTL but it's decades away if ever. Maybe there's a series of robot probes sent to nearby stars? Presumably the atmosphere/culture in different space settings--the Moon, Mars, the various lagrange and orbital habitats--will vary according to who owns them, the reasons for the colony/habitat, relative prosperity/availability of resources, etc.
  12. IMO a highly successful professional NPC can justify 15-25+ points in relevant skills and also a few extra points of INT, PRE, or whatever stat is appropriate. A successful litigator with 25 years of experience, or a successful surgeon with 25 years of experience has a lot of skill, knowledge and experience relevant to their area of expertise, plus more than a smattering of knowledge of related areas.
  13. One of the Advanced Player's Guides has some options for Damage Reduction. You can buy 100% Damage Reduction, at a high premium(80/120 points) or an alternative is to buy DR in 10% increments for 10/15 points(the latter for resistant reduction), so you could buy, say, 90% reduction for 90/135 points, or 100% for 100/150 points. There's also a proposed advantage for attacks, Irreducible, a +3/4 advantage, that would completely negate reduction.
  14. IIRC Mayfair's Underground game presented a mechanism for the PCs to change the various social aspects of the society itself in the campaign. That is, ways for them to alter the political situation, social attitudes, and so forth, through their actions. Interesting concept. You might be able to adapt the Kingdom rules or Social combat optional rules from APG to achieve something similar.
  15. A law professor may have the knowledge to practice the law, but not the license. A solo practitioner may have a higher PS: Lawyer than KS: Law, and a license to practice. I'm agnostic on charging points. If you treat their profession as an extension of an "everyman" skill(PS: own profession), then their license to practice becomes an everyman perk as well.
  16. Just use a version of Analyze, but call it Diagnose. With the right equipment, the doctor gets substantial bonuses to the roll. The more accurate the diagnosis, the more effective the treatment will be.
  17. Squad Leader used to have "programmed instruction". That is, each new scenario introduced new rules and units to the game. Thus the players could learn the rules as they went along.
  18. Dr. Misogyny's Bimbo Ray would revert women to busty, dimwitted, 1950s housewife stereotypes. The Techno Luddite's anti-tech nanotech would wipe out anything invented after circa 1600. Climate King's schemes might involve either wiping out the fossil fuel industry, or accelerating climate change to get rid of humanity. Mechanomagi uses technomancy to drain a fraction of life energy from all cell phone users in order to become nigh-omnipotent. The only way to stop him is to persuade everyone to put away their cell phones(so, basically, he's unstoppable).
  19. Transcendents are beings/species who evolved beyond the limitations of their native universes and moved on to other planes of existence. The foremost Transcendents are the Colonizers, who dwell in the space between the outer planes and the Great Beyond. Multiple Colonies exist, in a kind of hive society, each ruled by a Monarch, a being of immense power. The Colonizers are theorized to be the "gardeners" of the multiverse--they remove dead or damaged universes, create new ones, and observe others for signs of positive development or irrevocable decay. Sometimes the Colonies come into conflict with each other. No war is more spectacular than one on this scale.
  20. You didn't indicate how frequently the group will play or how you typically award Xp. For a long term campaign that meets weekly, 300 or 400 starting CP is fine. They will become formidable within the first 2 years. If you're gaming monthly, perhaps 400 or 500 starting CP is better for that pace.
  21. The base effect means the targets get a CON roll to shake off the Stunning effect. To add penalties to the CON roll costs extra.
  22. I think the idea is that he wouldn't be as powerful at first, but would grow as a threat over time.
  23. Seems to be a rumor running around that the villain of Phase 4 may be to be introduced in Captain Marvel 2.
