I am very partial to the Tasha's Ultimate Sheet. Though I may be biased.

You would have to open the Export Template and add the tag that includes those other tags. It's how I made that part of the sheet.

It's not really a question that Dan can Answer.

Yes, I am the Tasha who created that sheet,

Looking at it now. It's been YEARS since I looked at the code.

The Compound Power thing is kind of an ugly hack(mine). I need to look over documentation to see if I can fix that stuff.

One of the things I've found for making maps in general is using Google to find them for me. "Fast food restaurant floor plan", "Shopping Mall floor plan" etc...

Yeah I entered Champions because of a mistake with #23. (X-Men). The guy in Italy had World's of Wonder and was doing Super world. Since my family had already gotten our orders to go back stateside he wouldn't let me play, but did let me sit in. By the time we got to San Antonio (2 months later) I had forgotten what the game was, just remember it had a point but system...

    And Dragon Magazine.

On the DW one though. Wouldn't it make sense for the layout person to have the ad with the Champs write-ups?

    Pretty much that.

I am delighted that Champions II has been referenced!  It includes a paragraph that sums up so much of why I don't charge for bases:

    Going line-by-line:

The purpose of a base is, apparently, to be attacked in the base.

I am not charging someone for the location in which they are attacked.

The more intricate your base, the less secure it is-- at least, that seems to be the ideal.  Never mind the points you spent for the Concealment Roll!  If your base is anything cooler than hiding under a manhole cover, villains are just going to get in and attack you.

The security measures for which you paid points are meaningless, and will only serve to prevent your reinforcements from arriving.

The best and most effective part of the base is the character team itself.

Sure: I'm sure the rules are changed and better expressed, but at the very heart of the matter is this:

The base is an enabler.  "using your lab in your base can give you a plus 1 to plus three bonus!"

When you read your skill usage rules, using _any_ skill-appropriate lab will give you that same bonus.  Heck, you can use the points you'd spend on a lab in your base to buy up Skill a point or two!  Or just use anyone's lab.  That seems to be a common theme in comics anyway, right?   Ooh-- even better!  Your badguys aren't constantly breaking into the borrowed lab!

I can go on, but like four people have replied while I write this, so I'm just going to state my absolute agreement that bases are nothing but point sucks for PCs.  If you want a base-- fine.  You can have it.

The campaign died soon after but I gave the heroes in my Golden Age game a zeppelin base that could move around the country.  That was meant to be pretty important to the team as a mobile base and transportation to places they needed to be.  Even if it was implausibly fast, as fits the genre.

This seems like it presumes special effect.  If I create a spell that drains STUN to represent sleep, then it represents sleep; nothing about stun necessarily has to be pain and damage.  However, I agree that mechanically, transform is going to act more like sleep which is a more binary state: awake or asleep.

A little bit of troubleshooting in advance for folks to follow up on this post:

If you double-click on HD6.jar and nothing happens (specifically, you don't see the loading splash for HD), then .jar file associations on your system are not properly setup. If you haven't installed Java on your system yet, go to www.java.com and click on the big red button to install Java. If you have Java installed and are not seeing anything happen when double-clicking HD6.jar, then Google "jarfix" to find a small executable that will correct the .jar file associations on your system for you.

If you double-click on HD6.jar and see the loading splash for HD, but it stops at "loading plugins" then you're running HD from a directory that you don't have full access to.  There're some technical details about how the startup process works, but the long and short of it is that HD needs to be in a directory that both your account and Java have full read/write access to (Windows UAC in particular gets a bit hungup about C:\Program Files and similar directories) -- move HD to your Desktop or Documents folder and run from there, if only to verify that the issue is fixed (you can always move it afterwards).

You don't, as a superhero, need a base. If all you do in it is to eat, sleep, shit, and watch television between work and patrolling, and is only useful for the above things plus normal maintenance on costume and equipment, then it is waisted points. It's not like the GM is going to slap a homeless sticker on the character if they don't spend points on a base. Also, the character concept might actually be that they are homeless.

Yeah I had to start being kind of harsh and hardcore on actions because some players are either not paying attention, or just not great at tactical decision making, or just trying to find the perfect move (or all three).  So you get to them and they're working out the perfect power in their power pool with a calculator or looking up from their phone going "whu???" or stammering and uncertain.  Unfortunately a guy who could not make fast decisions was a speedster in one game, which was a disaster,  Oddly, he was the smartest man in almost any room he entered, literallly a nuclear physicist with multiple degrees.

So I came up with a few rules.  You should have your powers ready in your pool before the game starts, unless you can whip out something super fast and easy on the fly consistently.  If you take longer than is comfortable to wait, then you hold and we move on.  No devices at the table, period (except me using a combat program on my laptop).  Stuff like that.

I saw CNM as "Image". I had no issue making characters though a little one dimensional since normally the Hero powers were really there. Th idea of a universal plug and play system is nice, heck we play Hero - the problem was like the WinModem. More fiddle to get it to work. I remember one big issue with CNM is it had v5 on the front so many thought it was 5th Edition.

Next year (83-23) will be my 40 years of playing Hero, IN July as well.

I would love to see a Silver and Iron age set for Champions - on the ground of Strike Force where it shows the genre and how to adapt Hero to it (and not the other way around).

Several things I'd enjoy seeing even if it broke some things into multiple books.

This is key.  I know that adventures don't sell quite as well; About 1 "Taming Tascora" module has sold for every 10 Western Hero books.  I get that.  But without the support stuff like characters and adventures and campaign settings you don't have a game.  GMs need something they can PLAY immediately, not just the setting and the rules.  There's been 2-3 Champions adventures put out on Drive Thru and they are great stuff, but only one official adventure from Hero Games.  We need more: like ten times that many more.  We need to flood the store with adventures so people have lots of options and stuff to DO with Hero games.

In putting out my Jolrhos Fantasy Hero setting I've been trying to space out one adventure in between each big book, to build up a body of things a GM can do.  We need more of that.  I mean... until I put out the Lost Castle there were absolute no adventures put out for Fantasy Hero since fourth edition, and even then only one book of adventures.   That's ridiculous for a game company.
