  1. Re: Mental Powers Ummm... Did I miss the post that pointed out that Classes of Minds is *one* option presented in 5e and 5er? You know the other one that says you can attack "use a mental power on" a character outside of your class for a -3 ECV and -10 (-5 Ego Attack) on the effect roll. I use that rule because it makes too much sense not too. That way I can have my minds classes and still mind thwap all I want to who ever I want. Hawksmoor
  2. Re: Danger Rooms I agree that in most applications the utility of paying points for a Danger Room is ludicrous. Most characters simply do not have the luxury of spending more on a base than their primary power. OTOH, a staple of the genre is luring a housebreaking foe into the danger room so that you can teamed with the Danger Room's capabilities take him out. I say that these are plot devices and can do what ever the GM and the Campaign needs them to do. As such the most I would ever charge a team for would be Extra Dimensional Movement (to Danger Room Zone) and back via a portal in the base. "Can you say Arch?" I knew that you could. Hawksmoor
  3. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Sweet!
  4. Re: Need some help with an "heat-energy" character Derek Heimforth mentioned a while back in a Heat Vision Powers thread the creative use of Indirect for applications such as this. The gun gets hot, and the weilder "drops" after taking damage. Dispel versus the object is good, if you like the Dispel kills foci ruling. I do not. Drain vs focus body at range is better. Hawksmoor
  5. Re: Danger Rooms Fox1, I know you hate me but since I no longer have access to that fabulous work could you consider putting that program on your website? That is such a cool idea. Hawksmoor
  6. Re: What's the most outrageous plot your PCs have ever been subjected to In the vein of the thread I ran a World of Darkness campaign for oh about SEVEN years! The end result of the campaign when I had to describe it to a new player was Seinfield meets the Supernatural: a game where fantastic beings do absolutely nothing. Except on those rare occasions where bullets and Magicks fly about and shake the pillars of heaven! Hawksmoor
  7. Re: What's the most outrageous plot your PCs have ever been subjected to Way way off topic but related to this thread post. Once I read a WoD fanfic where Mystery Inc (Scooby and the gang) played a pivotal role. I saved the fiction but lost the harddrive in a windows upgrade a year or so later. Any chance of you websavvy folks finding it for me? Hawksmoor
  8. Re: Theme Super Hero Teams I am not fighting the Village People. Hawksmoor -You can get diseases.
  9. Re: A Secret Service Question, version 2.0 Then they are offered a minimal amount of secret service protection. One agent to make certain that they are safe and protected from the loons. They can of course decline the service at their leisure. Hawksmoor
  10. Re: A Secret Service Question, version 2.0 Sigh Lots of thought goes into these doesn't it? The secret service would *not* assign three agents to the worksite of the wife of a senator. Our tax dollars at work. The Secret Service would have no official level for a spouse or SO that would enable them to partake in mission breifings or objectives. The realism factor would be whether or not the agent gets reprimanded for involving an outside party. In a non realistic game the agent only gets some ribbing for bringing her man around so often. 11. Re: Hello and question about powers and such Hiya, So far you have gotten a lot of good information for your questions. That is great; one of the best things about the HGB is that loads of knowledgable and friendly posters frequent these parts. 1) Villian campaign. HS has loads of premade villians tossed in every single sourcebook. But to my knowledge only Viper: Coils of the Serpent has information about running a game from that angle. 2) I can see you are a gamer in favor of limitations. Fine, the only bad way to game is the way of no fun. Stick to that mantra and you will go far in life. Still I suggest the following: Independent is bad. The -2 limitation is there for a reason, respect it. A "magic formula" with independent means that you only get one use, and then the power and the points are gone! Now think about the use of adjustment powers and the likelihood your character is going to lose his powers permenently after getting slapped with a paltry 1d6 DEX Drain. Scary! Avoid Independent. My advice would be to take Only In Heroic Identity to represent the need to consume an elixer to become hero guy. The effect for your sfx would last until you no longer needed to be a hero, and there is a reasonable way to stop you from being Hero man. Fits the bill to a T in my opinion. All characteristic ECs are bad, 4e (Big Blue Book) or 5er (Big Bulletproof Book). Even if the All Powers in the EC must cost end rules are waived they are still bad. At most restrict yourself to one Characteristic per Framework. Remember that Characteristics in a MP do not give figured characteristics. Welcome Hawksmoor

  14. Re: Spiderman Vs. Firelord :clap clap clap: Better than some writers actually. Hawksmoor
  15. Re: Spiderman Vs. Firelord Another case in point: Superman II: the Electric Buggalo So why mess with the Icon? Hawksmoor
  16. Re: The Price (Character) Shouldn't that be -63 Body for "death?" (Just boned up on my Praxis and despite how weird it looks punctuation always goes inside the quotation...:screwy:) 13 reg -1 thru -13 dying then the +50 Body hits -63 OK but breathing his last -64 Call it Jim! Is there something I am missing? Hawksmoor
  17. Re: Ekatrina, tips for the character You are right, I looked previously but I didn't see it. That said she is scary especially with the Find Weakness. Play her cat and mouse using the occasional 1/2 action to detect weakness and she'll rip and rend with glee. As to high point games: Need to get me some of that! Hawksmoor
  18. Re: Hero Machine Thread I must say that Storm Shadow came out nicely!!! Hawksmoor
  19. Re: Welcome to land of the ignored It took a great deal of dedicated posters to turn him back from the Darkside. I wonder if I can rep him again? EDIT: Yep! Hawksmoor
  20. Re: Super Steve Beating a dead horse. Oh and the Steve thing. Ssshhhh! We do not want him and Darren getting swelled heads. We need their brain power devoted to putting out more and more quality product. I need The Ultimate Power Armor like NOW! Hawksmoor
  21. Re: Ekatrina, tips for the character Good build, the formatting took some getting used to. Is she meant to be a 500 cp bruiser? If so Ouch! Also I would buy the rapid attack (Hand to Hand) skill so she can sweep as a 1/2 phase action. Hawksmoor
  22. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Whoohoo! Just sent off the commisions for Worldmaker's Tyros the Conqueror and my own Robotman. Two or three weeks we'll see more of Storn's fine work. He said he was working on a 6 person team pic. I wonder if he would post a link to that one? Could be very cool. Hawksmoor
  23. Re: Welcome to land of the ignored There are a lot of people I enjoy reading and/or tustling with on the boards. Derek Heimforth, Dust Raven, RDU Neil, Sean Waters (TRL to you!), MitchellS, Oddhat, Zornwil. A special note for the kings of polls Hermit and Nexus. And a few that I hardly ever agree with (and in one case I actually think I made his Ignore list) Fox1 and bbrandon both of which often provide a different way of doing things that I might not agree with but I heartily endorse their ability to have a different view. Hawksmoor
  24. Re: HERO System Vehicles I don't hate the HERO vehicle rules, they do what I need them too. I just want Heroes to be able to deal with them like they should be able to. But I recognize that is an argument for greater point levels and lower cost combat movement. Hawksmoor
