How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)? Name and middle initial. I know, creative.
What was the first tabletop RPG you played? Champions! the BBB
What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed? Champions
What are you currently playing/GMing? On hiatus from a group with System Attention-Deficit Disorder (Savage Worlds, Numenera, Dnd, Fantasy Craft, Shadow of the Demon Lord). A lot of false starts.
When did you start to play Hero? 1990 ish. Think I ordered it from an American Entertainment catalog.

    Guess I should introduce myself.

Let's see... I'm Era, a bit autistic (and thus quiet and shy), love computers, computer games, role playing, programming, and other things.

I learned about Herosystem (5E) back in 2005 when I was in Korea (military), and in 2006-2007 I came here to get into my first 5E fantasy game in Brightwood (and haven't had a chance to play since )

Other than some posts years ago (commenting on powers and mistakes in the books etc) most of those seem to have been either archived or deleted...

So I've more or less not here or paying attention, But... I'd like to be here more now, since video games can't seem to keep my attention quite as easily the last year.

    ---
So I guess there's a few standard questions...
How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)? When I was on ICQ I wanted a way to differentiate myself so I was more searchable. So I decided on Era, then later while doing my paperroute the name Hawkeye came to mind (MASH), now of course I didn't want to steal that so I went to Crow, then Scarecrow.... yeah... not very exciting...
What was the first tabletop RPG you played? D&D 2nd Ed
What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed? D&D 2nd Ed (limited experience, but had one really good session!)
What are you currently playing/GMing? Looking... if there were a hobby shop in my town, I'd probably be gone 2 nights a week playing...

Otherwise playing video games trying to keep myself occupied.

I once made serious inroads into a Toon Champions game. The main villain was going to be Ducktor Doom!

"Universal Skills": +10 Overall Skill Lvls (120 ap); Only To Use A Skill Not Possessed (Extraordinary Skill Roll Penalty Requirement; -2). 40 cp.

The character can make an Extraordinary Skill Roll (-10) using the appropriate Characteristic (DEX, INT, PRE, etc.) to use a skill that is not possessed by the PC.

In Ultimate Skill/Hero System skills, in addition to Universal Translator, other universal skill enhancers are suggested, including: True Jack of All Trades, Universal Connections, Universal Pilot, Universal Scholar, and Universal Scientist.  Logically, a few more could be created:
Universal Armsman--the character is familiar with the vast majority of weapons, and can become familiar with new ones with a skill roll. 20 points.
Universal Agility--the character can perform any Agility(dex-based) skill.  This should probably cost 30 points, not 20.
Universal Intellect--the character can perform any Intellect skill.  Also should probably cost 30 points.
Universal Charisma--the character can perform any interaction skill.  30 points.
Universal Martial Artist--the character is familiar with the most common martial arts maneuvers, and can learn new ones with a skill roll.  40 points, extra damage classes cost 5 points, not 4.
Combat Mastery--the character can perform other combat skills(Autofire skills, Defense maneuver, Rapid Attack, Two Weapon Fighting, Optional Combat Maneuvers) and learn new ones with a skill roll. 30 points.

The total cost of all 12 "Universal" skills, base, would be 300 points.  So, pretty expensive.  But if you want to "clean up" a character sheet and not clutter it with dozens of specific skills, or if you want to run a campaign where a super-scientist basically knows all the sciences, or a super martial artist basically knows most martial arts, it's probably a nice clean way to do it.

On his third reboot. That should really temper expectations. Not even the MCU tie in boost will overcome that completely.

The Takeaway maneuver may only be listed in a few of the martial arts in the UMA but that doesn't mean it can't be incorporated into other styles.  There's nothing to say that John didn't learn that particular maneuver on his own sometime during his long and storied career.

I always wanted to see a Quantum Leap movie where Sam leaps into Thomas Magnum (of Magnum PI), imagining it as Magnum helping Al solve a murder or other crime at the Quantum Leap facility while Sam works with Rick, TC, and Higgins to solve a crime in Hawaii.  Since both series were created by Donald Bellisario, I thought it would be a natural pairing of shows.

Hi. New to the forum, brought in by the MHI game. In all my years of gaming none of the groups I have been associated with have even been remotely interested in the Hero system, so the rule set is totally foreign to me. Hoping to find out more before committing to the game.

    But in the meantime, introductions.

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?
    - 1upus because Lupus was taken. And no, I do not suffer from lupus. Latin for wolf

What was the first tabletop RPG you played?
    - first ever RPG was D&D, basic box, which I'm sure dates me

What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?
    - in the 1980s, way before Star Wars d20, my gaming group of the day reskinned AD&D into a Star Wars RPG set around the classic trilogy. A long time ago before the prequels were even imagined by fanboys.

    What are you currently playing/GMing?
    - haven't GM'd for a long time due to a lack of preparation time.Current gaming revolves around John Wick's Blood & Honor. Relatively rule light and I live the collaborative fiction feel if the way the game runs.

Additional note: What brought you to the Hero System?
    - as mentioned, I am a huge fan of MHI and only discovered recently there was an official RPG. Here to find out more.
I'm also a big fan of the GrimNoir stories amd am considering reskinning Champions to create a Grim Noir game.

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?

My favorite Knight of the Round Table (Urien is either a Knight or an Ally of Arthur, depending on the saga). I liked the portrayal of Urien from Excalibur (1980) the most. A person who did not give his allegiance easily, but when he did, he was loyal to a fault.

What was the first tabletop RPG you Played?

    Red Box DnD (Mentzer).

What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?

    See Above

Savage Worlds. Looking at getting into Fantasy Hero.

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?  Originally my screen was Meadayon but I want to change my screen to something else.  My original screen of Meadyaon was the name of demigod I had created the Heroes Unlimited before I switch to Champions.  I then choose my new screen name to be TheNaga which is the name of my half human/half snake character with six arms.  My avatar picture shows you what my character my screen name is based on will somewhat look like when he is done mutating.

Hi! Been a Champions nut for a very long time (1985, 3rd ed) but been quite inactive over the last decade and a half. Ran a lot of 3rd and 4th ed but skipped over Fuzion (ugh) and 5th ed. Champions Complete has recently fallen into my lap and the old juices are starting to flow again.

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?
I picked up a nickname as "The Missing Link" at my first proper job. Link is "Rinku" in Japanese which I was always a fan of. Nothing to do with Zelda - but because of Link from Zelda I got into the habit of sticking the "m" for missing in front to make a handle.

What was the first tabletop RPG you played?
      1st Edition Traveller, circa 1980.

What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?
      Ditto.

    What are you currently playing/GMing?
Playing 2nd Ed Space:1889 (Ubiquity version) with the old gang via Skype. Prepping to run Champions 6th after we finish that campaign.

Edit: Just added a profile picture. Never played Captain Third in a tabletop game, but he's appeared in City of Heroes, DCUO, Pirates of the Burning Sea and has a miniature (pictured). Probably I should have a picture of Robo-bushi or Dwarfstar who go back to my actual Champions playing days, but Cap started as a wargaming tournament in-joke and the first drawing of him was as a forum profile portrait, so hey.
