  1. Re: Are there ANY good plant/wood powers names? Or, more to the point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nature_Boy_(comics)
  2. Re: The Wondrous Lady Teodora, Player Nonpareil Seconded, since I'm not sure exactly what the homage is, though I have a few ideas.
  3. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? Replace "Nazi" with "evil" and I think you pretty much had it. The same way the title "Count" implies "vampire".
  4. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Repped the good doctor, becaue I haven't read such gaming-related weirdness in a long, long time.
  5. Re: Calling all Green Lanterns I don't think we ever had a GL variant in my games. At least none come to mind.
  6. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Jiro Dreams Of Sushi
  7. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? Neither was Captain Comet, or a lot of the superheroes with "Captain" in their name. I imagine it just sounded good to the creators.
  8. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? Well, the character *is* evil.
  9. Re: Who are the copies/pastiches/tributes/captain ersatz in your campaigns? As this hemisphere's biggest Captain Comet fan (fingers crossed DC brings him back in some fashion), I'd love to see this write-up.
  10. Re: Champions Villian Voulms Beyond 3: Is There Room For More? I concur. Anyone who would pronounce "enemies" as "nuk-u-lar" shouldn't be allowed anywhere near an RPG.
  11. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Steve Miller's Crossing Jefferson Airplane! (Grace Slick and Leslie Nielsen rock the house) Ozzy Osbourne on the Fourth of July
  12. Re: Things That Go Bump in the Night FWIW, I like this title better.

  15. Re: Horror Hero In my CoC game, I created a lot of the NPCs based on the jobs and interests of the characters. I used those NPCs a lot, and found ways to make it clear that the more the players brought them into the actual adventuring, the more danger the NPCs were in. Of course, this was CoC, where players are much less likely to think their characters are immortal.

  17. Re: 4th String Villians Yeah! I'll see you the Geodesics and raise you everyone in Enemies III bar Power Crusher.
  18. Re: GAC/Pulp Hero/Villain names and a team name This is stupid, but I'm sharing it anyway: Given that they only get together for the major threats, given that I believe you said they were "names" as solo heroes, and given the popularity of baseball in the time period, I toss out: The Big League. You may toss it out as well. That said, any name that I would normally use for a team seems off as this seems more like an occasional grouping. Maybe something with the word Alliance in it would be suitable. I like the sound of The Chancery Alliance but I doubt many people would know what it meant.

  20. Re: GAC/Pulp Hero/Villain names and a team name Yeah, the Ranger in Planetary was crazy awesome. And crazy. Related to their Spider analogue if I recall correctly. Seems to me that Night Rider might make a good villain name for the reasons discussed above. Heck, if race will be an issue, I'd love to see someone use the name "White Devil".
  21. Re: GAC/Pulp Hero/Villain names and a team name Thanks. Funny bit of trivia: Before they settled on Phantom Rider for the character, they went with Night Rider. Which sounds fine, until you find out that the KKK used that also. And, well, there's the matter of that all-white costume...
  22. Re: GAC/Pulp Hero/Villain names and a team name Phantom Rider's a perfectly good one; it's just been copped by Marvel for their various (and failed, IMO) takes on the Western Ghost Rider. (I believe there's a Republic serial with that title as well) The Pale Rider works pretty well for a "resurrected" style Western hero, if you don't mind cribbing from the Eastwood film. If he's more straightforward crimefighter than Weird Western, then something like The Masked Marshal, Spectral Sheriff, Haunted Hunter might do. You might also find something interesting based on the lore of the Indians that did the resurrecting. A phrase I recall from the poem "Hiawatha" was Black-Robed Chief, which I think referred to a Bishop.
  23. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Just to complete this trifecta, how about Mr. Zartan's Neighborhood?
  24. Re: The Non Sequitor Thread My lips crack with every grin.
  25. Re: In Progress From Blackwyrm Games: Mythic America Tesla as fictional character is a central figure in the Forbidden Kingdoms pulp game setting and the creator of the title character in the excellent Atomic Robo comic books. I got the same vibe from those as from The Prestige: It just works.
