  1. Re: Missing Airliner Kodiak: Semi-retired, but an experienced pilot. I'd expect he'd be a source of 'expert opinion' for the local meta-connected contact point (in HHC anyhow), but that's about it (barring further information). Speedzone: Unless the local UNTIL office (or maybe Dr Silverback/the Champions) had a reason to call on him, or he had a personal reason to get involved, I don't see him getting involved unless they were farming data out to any available scientifically-minded heroes in hopes that someone would 'see' something. Vector: Currently an unknown for the most part, and not likely to get involved on anything on a national level for the foreseeable future without GM fiat. Still, if this were a 'hypothetical future' possible plot thread, he'd probably likely be called in as part of the initial search team if it involved metas. His primary power is supersonic flight. Vagabond: A member of the West Coast Avengers team in the Bunnyverse. Almost certain to get involved at some point, and this would probably make a good crossover between the East and West coast teams. Vagabond's powerset includes the ability to create XDM Gates, plus he's knowledgeable about 'dimensional navigation' and magic. Throw in precognitive dreaming, and he's a walking potential plot hook.
  2. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread VERY nice! Of course I have to spread some rep around before I can give you anymore...
  3. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
  4. Re: What's in the moon? Hmmmm, the moon is associated with madness and lycanthrope plus its phases are influential in the workings of magic... The remnants of a weapon or other artifact from an early battle with Qliphotic entities while the universe was still forming... It's part of why so many humans develop meta-abilities and so many alien races seem to care about an otherwise obscure rock orbiting a yellow sun... (I wonder if I can fit this properly into one of my current story lines...)
  5. Re: Superhero Legacy. Passing on a Name Vagabond is already a legacy himself, and still not really comfortable with the idea of being a hero -- let alone passing on the mantle some day. He's rather young yet to be worrying about it (He's part of teh bunneh's West Coast Avengers: TNG game)... JT is 15. And the son of a super. The closest he's come to worrying about 'the next generation' as it applies to him is a brief glance of a possible future when he's an adult and a young super is trying to convince him to talk to her parents about letting her skip the whole 'super school' thing and start fighting villains for real... Speedzone has already had an inadvertent trip to the future and has met his daughter who has clearly inherited his powerset, and taken a name that is a combination of his and her mother's. He's also had a teenager try to be his sidekick -- complete with complimentary costume and name. He's also discovered his family has at least one other 'hero' in the 'tree. His grandmother was an unwilling super for the Nazis during WWII... Vector.. well, he's never really considered himself as having a legacy to pass down in the first place. He's a thief, well, 'retired' thief and he hadn't planned on taking up the whole 'ID' thing again anyhow -- let alone trying to act like a hero. It's nothing he'd ever even thought to consider, and isn't likely to in the short term... Kodiak.. Kodiak is the child of two engineered metas (any further back on his family tree, and you're naming lab equipment). His sister is a meta. He has a son who almost certainly will be a meta, and an adopted daughter who already has her own costumed ID. Courtesy of a time travel scenario (hmmm, there seem to have been a lot of those going on -- I blame Hermit, even if I was the GM in this particular one), he already knows his sister's daughter will be a meta. He might even be immortal, or at least it was hinted at during one adventure. He doesn't know of the other three children in his future (yet -- well, two of the three), but it just isn't in his mindset to consider passing on anything in the way of a 'traditional' legacy...
  6. Re: Fun looking toy Well, if it's a modified SAW (M-249), it's .223 (5.56mm NATO) -- so even full auto, it's shouldn't be that heavy in the recoil department. It's been a while since I fired an M-203, but iirc, it'll be a bit more problematic in that regard but it's only single shot so it could probably be done... Write up would be a basic RKA AF5 (probably either 1d6+1 or 1 1/2d6) plus your preferred grenade launcher. The box probably holds 50 rnds (charges), and the grenade launcher is single shot. 'Specialty' ammo will modify as needed...
  7. Re: Super Team Logo The first logo from my earlier post was generated here...
  8. Re: Super Team Logo Only two of my groups have made a 'team logo'... Shadow Guard (part of my HHC Hero Central game), and Twilight Guard (my FtF game)...
  9. Re: Theron's Bay City Mash-Up lol... (darn limits on giving rep...)
  10. Re: Just the thing for a costal team... Clicking on 'link...' should take you to the story on CNN's website... I'll work on fixing the embedded image...
  11. I was thinking of putting this on NGD, but it looks like any superteam on the waterfront should have something like this -- and it looks like it wouldn't be out of place in the batcave with a few cosmetic adjustments... Embedded video from CNN Video Hmmm, that didn't work right... Here's the link...
  12. Re: Supervillains and Philosophy .oO(Hmmmm) wonders if the old BA in Philosophy is too rusty to read these sorts of essays again...
  13. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine I'm not having any issues on a Vista machine with Firefox. What exactly can't you do?
  14. Re: Teen Champions plots Borrowing other's ideas can be useful. If not, it's still a fun read... ps238
  15. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread I've got a few PCs in my games who wouldn't want to meet him in an alley... (of course, he mightn't want to meet them either -- the social scene can be such a bummer) Looks great!
  16. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From the Avengers/Thunderbolts crossover on HC...
  17. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread I enjoy seeing both. If for no other reason than to see what I missed between the two... (though there is also something to be said for seeing two 'different' presentations of the same subject...)
  18. Re: Double Ended Weapons One simple option, short of re-writing the stats of a given weapon, is to allow a surprise bonus for the controlling char attempting to use a weapon's versatility for tactical advantage.
  19. Re: teen champons geeks vs jocks kung fu version Geeks 'study' anything considered esoteric or outre. Jocks are part of the schools athletic culture... Wrestling is a school sanctioned sport, and thus accepted. A wrestler would be a jock... A practitioner of one of the Asian arts, if he also was a respected member of the school's athletic teams, would be a jock -- but it would help if he practiced one of the more commonly known arts... However, a kid who is not a part of the school's athletic program, has learned how to count to ten in Japanese/Korean or dances around in silk pajamas is probably going to be considered a geek. How much hassle he gets is going to depend on whether or not he's also kicked anybody's butt around the parking lot after school -- and many martial schools teach discipline and self-restraint...
  20. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I'm not even going to try and provide context for this...
  21. Re: Enemies for Teen Champions game Depends on the builds. Seven combat effectives against one or two 350pt adults should be doable though. Pick something fairly easy as an experiment though. Something along the lines of Pulsar or Bulldozer pulling a solo job (maybe with mook support)...
  22. Re: Which is your least favorite archetype to play? Yep. In the UMA and everything... Play a brawler around me, and describe his actions in 'brawling' terms, I won't have any issues... Play a character raised by monks in a secret temple in the orient who's mastered the secret arts and describe his actions in brawling terms and I'll have to resist the urge to hit you with a stick. My issues with MAs have more to do with other people's ability to play the character within my expectations than any issue with the character itself... While the same is true to an extent with my dislike for mentalists, the root is as much with the actual rule mechanics as my expectations/interpretation. Another 'pet peeve' in terms of archtypes is the PA with no background justification/support. The Warlord makes sense to me: he's a wealthy arms merchant with access to alien tech and an extensive support base. He can maintain a high-tech tin can. Ankylosaur makes no sense at all. It took him 'months' to figure out how to pronounce the name, saying the suit's controls must be extremely intuitive is something of an understatement. How he keeps it running, and why he hasn't been tricked out of it, is a complete mystery to me...
  23. Re: Which is your least favorite archetype to play? Hmmm, my usual source of 'eyerolling' with MAs have nothing to do with the laws of physics. You're playing an MA in a supers game, I expect over-the-top wire-fu/mystic master stuff... On the other hand, dealing with a player (or GM) who plays MA character actions in a manner which would adequately describe a schoolyard brawl at caveman elementary makes my teeth hurt. Needless to say, I don't play MAs very often (at least not as a primary schtick) and am fairly careful about allowing them in games I GM. Also not a big fan of mentalist. Too much of their ability is dependent on GM interpretation, and their abilities in general lend themselves more to hanging WAAAAAAAAAAY back and nudging the fight from a distance than mixing it up close with the rest of the group. You almost have to mix them with something else to run them with a team as a general rule...

  25. Re: Poison's Champions Art Thread I love the detail in the foreground with Knockout's sketch. Very nicely done... Still not sure what's seeming off about Matrix for me. I keep focusing on the draped cape pose, but I can't pinpoint why it feels off. It may be her legs seem out of proportion (maybe)?
