wcw43921 got a reaction from Pariah in Aphorisms for a Superhero Universe
"Just do right. Right may not be expedient, it may not be profitable, but it will satisfy your soul. It brings you the kind of protection that bodyguards can’t give you. So try to live your life in a way that you will not regret years of useless virtue and inertia and timidity.
Take up the battle. Take it up. It’s yours. This is your life. This is your world."---Maya Angelou

I've thought about this, only my thought experiment had the President transferring some blue states to a less benevolent country (Russia, China, etc). I realized that this would have to happen by treaty, which would require approval of 2/3 of the Senate. I stopped worrying about it after that.

I just say a quick prayer to Anoia (Goddess of Things That Get Stuck in Drawers). Usually does the trick. Though she has gotten busy since the Post Office reopened.

I read that and the first thing I thought of was the German hand grenade. I said to myself, "What, the drawer is booby trapped by the grenade? What is this?"
Then it occurred to me it was the kitchen utensil. Most people find being slow on the uptake amusing--except for the person who's being slow on the uptake.

The first responsibility of a judge is supposed to be to what the law actually says, interpreted through their formal knowledge and experience. Of course personal bias can't be avoided, but they're supposed to strive for objectivity as much as humanly possible. I applaud Justice Gorsuch for holding himself to that standard.

I am a veteran, and worked for 18 years enforcing laws, I know that most of the great guys I worked with were scum. They all knew if they pulled crap around me They were done. I was hated and feared. Not by citizens though.

Weather Control would be excellent for this situation. Nothing would quench a rioting crowd like a sudden downpour, or even a raging blizzard. (And a downpour would be a big help in fire suppression, as well.)

That is fair. But if you look at history, the Confederate flag languished in obscurity for almost a century after the war. It started to once again be prominently displayed and used as a symbol during the modern era as part of protests against desegregation of schools in the southern US in the early 1960s. And what it was a symbol of had nothing to do with culture or war memorials.

I hope the Biden campaign relentlessly urges people to get out and vote. Scares them with the risk of Trump returning to office. It won't be enough for Biden just to win. I'm not accustomed to using extreme language, but Trump needs to be crushed under a landslide defeat. There must be no doubt that Trumpism is rejected in its birthplace, so that it's discredited around the world, and its toxic spread reversed.
(I apologize if that's too harsh, and will edit my words if a moderator asks.)
