I've finally come to the conclusion that the A-10s and CAS mission should be given to the Army and/or Marines.  Along with the funding.  If the USAF hates the job that much, let's give it to someone who'll do it right.

Well, if you had absolute power, would there be a need for new weapons?  Because if you had absolute power, you could abolish war as a means of settling disputes domestically and internationally, because the whole world would be one people, one nation under your absolute control.  There would be no need of weapons of war, because there would be no war.

Unless you planned to keep war going as a means of keeping the people impoverished, as per Orwell's 1984.

Many posts ago I put upon this thread a less-than-lethal weapon called the JPX Defender, which allowed your characters to ruin an NPC's day without killing them.  Those who appreciated the weapon will undoubtedly be pleased to know there is now a four-shot version--

    Hope that helps.

From what I remember, punt guns were generally used for market hunting.  I think they were usually 1-, 2-, or 4- gauge shotguns and were braced against the ground or a support structure in a boat and fired into flocks of waterfowl.  Flock flies off, dead birds are picked up, and the market hunter either reset in the same location or moved on to another spot to repeat the process.

Essentially, a small cannon loaded with birdshot.  Nothing sporting about the practice--it was strictly business.

This is much more creepy to anyone following The Walking Dead--and while it's based on something that happened last season, the "cookie speech" from the most recent episode (3-8) makes it that much more creepy--

Isn't Supergirl known for changing her costume frequently? They've got a built-in excuse to change it if it's not "working" on-screen.

Thanks to my very important contacts, I've obtained the original draft of this speech:

"Dudes. Thanks for coming out. I know all you reporters for  major newspapers and websites had to skip your shifts at Starbucks to be here. It means a lot to me, that you, like, gave up a cool fifty and might not be able to make rent this month. I know you're burning up with anger and resentment at most everybody. Hey! I've seen your tweets!"

So. I know you're all, like, saying to yourselves, "Why am I even here? Social media is so, like, 2012." Plus also, "I bet if I were a woman/minority/trans, I'd have the last job at NEWSWEEK, and not that loser, Tamara." And I hear you, folks. I mean, the last time I logged on to Facebook was, like, LOL I don't remember, and it was full of whiny people then, too. Stop whining, is what I'm saying. You'd be awesomely rich, too, if you'd come up with a plan to DISRUPT ALL MEDIA like me."

"So, anyway, Facebook is way better than Twitter, 'cuz it's got more of those meemie things the kids love. Not as many as Snapchat, but they're working on it. We're working on that. That's totally an important part of Project HOLDING USER DECLINE RATES FOR 2015 BELOW 30%. More memes and LOLcats. That and spamming your email every five minutes. BING. Heh heh. No, tots seriously, don't bother looking at your phones. That's us, asking why you haven't been on Twitter lately.

"Yeah, I know, it makes us look needy. But hey! We're needy for reals! I mean, the company is worth --just let me check my phone here-- a gazillion billion dollars right now by stock valuation. Still, someday, someone's going to ask us how, exactly, we plan to make enough money to justify a $50 stock valuation. To which my answer continues to be, uhm, I don't know, you tell me? Which is good enough for "venture capitalists," or, as I like to call them, "Morons with too much money," but not for "value investors." Or, as I like to call them, "Morons with too much money they got from their grandparents."

"So, to summarise, I sold 10% of my stock six months ago. Do you know what 1% of 24 billion is? Here, let my get my phone. Holy crap, I am swimming in moron money. Like, I make more than a doctor just on interest if I hold my money in Treasuries! For doing nothing! And in America, it's taxed below 15%! So I was at, like, Twitter HQ the other day, and I'm like, I'm outta here! And everyone was, like, 'Oh no you don't. We know where your compound is.' And we decided to wait another six months or so, till everybody else had sold off, like, 1%, too.

"So we're going to hold on for six months. But how, you ask? Like this: 'How?' I'm hilarious. So our plan is that we're going to do something about those Gamergate arseholes. That's something you thin-skinned weenies care about, I hear. Ladies, amirite? Or, no, wait. Trolls. All the trolls. Gonna get rid of 'em. We have a plan. Which doesn't involve a compound on a lake in the Sierra Nevada you never heard of. For another six months."

Referring to it as an "Israeli newspaper" without mentioning its target demographic is irresponsible and misrepresents normative Israeli culture. This is a hareidi / ultra-orthodox newspaper and is extreme even by normative orthodox Jewish standards, let alone mainstream traditional or secular Israeli standards. The average Israeli newspaper has just as much skin on display as click-bait as any western newspaper. As someone who lived in Israeli for eight years, I see this, and I think "The Mad Mullah's in Bnei Brak edited out Merkel? Yeah, okay, but how is that Israeli?" The hareidim in Israel have created retro-European ghettos in Israel, insist on speaking Yiddish instead of Hebrew, overwhelming refuse to get jobs or serve in the army, only form political parties to extort public funds for their education and welfare programs, and routinely go on damned-fool modesty and anti-technology crusades (sometimes violently) in order to preserve the informal borders of their cultish tinpot urban cantons. This paper is published by people who hate mainstream Israeli culture and identity despite the paper being technically Israeli -- and that needs to be front and center when stories like this are referenced.

The same reason terrorists destroy anything -- symbolism. The WTC was a symbol of American capitalism and economic power, which al-Qaeda believed to be the primary motivation for the policies they considered wrong (such as supporting a Saudi regime they despised, or sending American troops to a country they believed should be off-limits to all non-Muslims so the Americans could stage Desert Storm).

They also chose the Pentagon as a political target for similar reasons -- it symbolizes American military power.

We will probably never know what they intended United Airlines Flight 93 (the one forced down by its own passengers and crew) to strike -- at the time the White House or Capitol were suspected, and I'm sure Osama Bin Laden would have relished the death or serious injury of President Bush. But there were several other targets available.

Although the American reaction was furious, with consequences we all know, it did enable al-Qaeda to use the belief that America was the enemy of all Islam to aid them in recruiting.

I've only seen The Big Bang Theory a couple of times--it seemed like all the humor was based on showing how stupid smart people can be.

I do watch AMC's Comic Book Men and TBS's King Of The Nerds--although when I posted about that show when it first premiered, no one here was interested.
