  1. Not quite indespencible, but I enjoy playing and quite uesful in some campeigns is the agent smasher, the guy with abunch of AE and AF attacks, usualy not a heavy hitter but still tough as anything
  2. So steve, what would you have done differently knowing what you know now?
  3. And of the three ways to do it in there (I think it is 3, no book here), I prefer the Multiform (with rapid change), to figure out the base form I ask the following question: When I park it what form is it in? For instance I beleive the Veritech fighters from Robotech were docked as Fighters, so Fighters they are

  5. To side rail this, I would like digging split into two seperate aspects to one power, speed and Str, (speed=2pts, Str=3 pts) Why? So I can create the Sand Schrew (Diggin 10" Def 5)
  6. Some are nasty some are not: a NND with Explosion, sticky, continous, on continuing charges, range based on str, and foci (essentialy the effect lingered in there lungs after being exposed and out of the area) Flash sense of Touch (read the rules on loosing touch, they are nasty), does KB, Explosive, double KB Dispell KB Resistance, Does KB, Double KB, 0 end Clairsentience, with extra range, and limited range and must target location, the F/X was that the character had to fire a little probe thingy (it had the limited range), after it was in location the character could go off to up to the maximum range of the power...
  7. Derek I am going to use your example above, we will asume two methods are under review, one is a EB, Indirect, the other is streatching does not pass through space, you said brick so lets assume Str 50 BY METARULE 6 the more expensive is always right Distance covered 5" Streatching method: 31 points EB method (Includes limited range): 70 Points Distance 10" Streatching method: 62 points EB method (Includes limited range): 70 Points Distance 15": Streatching: 94 Points EB method (Includes limited range): 70 Points Technicaly the Streatching should be 0 end as the character will still have to pay for Str used (If so 10" will cost more for streatching). Now according to metarule 6 the most valid way will change when it gets to a certain point, also note that the most valid way will also be effected by the Str of the individual. To me this is broken.
  8. I agree that the defence powers are screwed up (However I think the weak link is FF, and I think FF should go bye bye). However saying the problem is the power chosen as an example is wrong, this error is in many other places. The basic problem is this, as a sound bite: You can always build a legitimet interpretation of a power more expensively, thus the most appropriate way is the easiest way to build it
  9. Of course my examples were constructed to be overly obvious (In order to drive home the absurdity of Metarule 6), but here is a more tame one I have encountered: I wanted a character who could generate a persistant FF. Some people said built it as a 0 end FF Persistent (2 advantages, +1), but instead I chose to do it as Armor: visible (one -1/4 lim), people will debate on what was the "right way" according to rule 6 I did wrong, but the other way is more complicated. Furthermore as far as game balance goes it is closer inline (IMHO)
  10. I use two optional (Characters benefit) for recoveries, simply put either as presented or by intervals of there Recovery, so High rec character recover quicker, but really low rec (norms) recover as per the book, most characters in my games range from 6-10, with a high of 35 (don't ask)

    Stopping time

yes, using standard effect, it removes speed 6 (max for normal humans in my games) and will put a serious crink in most speedsters,

    Stopping time

Depends on the effect you want, a good "Functional" form I have developed follows, note this is still insanly expensive: Time Stop, all slots: 1 Recoverable Continuing Charges lasting 1 Minute each (-1/2) 100 1) Frozen in Time: Suppress 20d6, Personal Immunity (+1/4), Area Of Effect (13" Radius; +1) (225 Active Points); No Range (-1/2), Linked to Frozen in time (-1/4) 21 2) Frozen in time: Flight 4", Usable As Attack (+1), Area Of Effect (13" Radius; +1 3/4), Perosnal Immunity (+1/4) (32 Active Points) 24 3) Temporal Invisibility: Invisibility to Sight Group (Additional Sense Group: Hearing Group, Additional Sense Group: Mental Group, Additional Sense Group: Radio Group, Additional Sense Group: Smell/Taste Group, Additional Sense Group: Touch Group, No Fringe) (55 Active Points); Linked to Frozen in Time (-1/2), Only for people with Speed 6 or less, speed 6 can see fringe (-1/4) Powers Cost: 145 If you want something more robust (but still in the local area) increase Suppress, make sure you keep the radiuses together, anyone in the area will not see you moving (Invisibility), be unable to act (the suppress) and not fall (Flight)...Just realised that it would also need Usable underwater on flight, so the costs may be off a touch There you go, that shoudl do it... NOte this is not a time stop, but more a time slow power, and some speedsters will still be able to act, but slowley (most speedsters in my experience will be reduced to a 1-2 speed...just not as fast as they use to be are they...
  13. METARULE 6 IS BROKEN Okay had to say that. It makes no sense, as I can ALWAYS make a power more expensive (why use metascale, NCM with a -1/4 lim no fine control works just as well, and can be much higher, or for that matter buy strait movement) I beleive in the concept of simplicity of design, if I can use one power to simulate something with no advantages (or adders) or Lims, cool, if it takes 3 advantages one way and 7 advantages another way go with 3, even if 3 is cheeper So metarule 6, is useless to me.
  14. I'll tell you all how to make a truly invulnerable character, it will be expensive: Healing/Regeneration/from Death/Regrow limbs, with enough to regen x2 Body characteristic (okay now the worse case senario is you die and are resurected) Enough REC to heal all your stun in one recovery x2 Speed (only to take recoveries), Linked to Desolification So how does this monstocity work? Character is hit by attack, he will recover with the F/X of it did not hurt me
  15. "Hello Mr Warlock, ohh the powers of God do you say, how fasinating, will that be one or two lumps for your tea"? ---Jarvis, Avengers Butler
  16. A few more Remove Duplication, it is now handled as a form of summons Instant Change is back (this is a trivial but cool power and to have to jump through hoops is wrong Armor is history New Regeneration rules, every 5 points spent reduces the amount of time needed to heal your recovery in body one step (starting at month, uses timechart) furthermore include the "healing" options of limbs and death, takes as long as one cycle to regain (Ie if you recover your body a day you would reserect in a day) to ECHO: DAMAGE SHIELD DOES NOT NEED CONTINOUS, but should have the same +1 cost as some powers do in regards to AF

    Skill IDeas

Working on a computer that will be part of a characters Battle Armor: The character is a Robotic Engeneir who fights giant monsters alot as well as being a somewhat standard Japenese Super, any ideas for skills?
  18. Do'OH I thought it was decided that I was a power gamer not a Munchkin
  19. Just for the record: Absorbing Man (A thor foe) can not absorb the powers of individuals he touches, he can absorb the characteristics of the items he touches ( a significant difference) Anyways, a VPP is the way to go. But in hero you canalways skin the cat a different way, so howabout a MP with the Var F/X and a custom Lim (Only to level of object touched -1/2) Slots in it would include: Desolification (for liquids & gasses) RKA, No range, NND, Does Body, AE: One Hex(In case he turns into an acid EB, No Range, NND, AE: One hex, KO Gasses Density Increase Flight Swimming All should be "m"
  20. just a note Mister Death, AVLD and NND are both Stun only, so it is 10 stun no body. An interesting aside, my longest run character was an agent stopper who had a few NND's (Gas based in primary MP, gas based in secondary MP, and a MA package) and was never viewed as overpowered
  21. There is another way to build it as well: Variable Advantage, limited group, only NND, a +1 3/4 advantage on the power in question
  22. An Earth Elemental built as a desolid invisible mega movements. with a Multiform into the earth elemental (Requires raw materials)?
  23. You would hate the character I am working on: A Summons on a multiform on a duplication on a vehicle
  24. This sounds more like a form of Visible Armor to me than a FF...It would be cheaper too 30/30 FF, 0End, Persistent, Always On =80 points 30/30 Armor, Visible= 72 Points
  25. I would rule that they should all be at a -1/4 value link to flight, UNLess you use the 75% Damage Reduction (it would be worth a -0 on it), also and this might seem like a WEIRD IDEA, but use Leaping instead of flight, then give him a couple of inches of flight (linked to leaping) the flight will allow him to stay up in the air and to "leap" from where he is, but it would make the characters flight less controled, just a werid idea
