  1. Re: How many points does a person have? 0+10, wow. Harsher than even I suggested. Still, that's the right idea, especially if 0 points corresponds to the canonical 10 in all the standard stats, but the actual population average is 8's instead of 10.
  2. Re: Looking for House rule suggestion I can see his concern: I'm not certain I've ever played a combat where available END became a problem for PCs. STUN and BODY, yes, Charges, certainly; END, no.
  3. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Sharon Stone
  4. Re: Complicate the Person Above Ever wonder what happens to all the test animals after the cosmetics industry is done with them? Used to be they got fed to crematorium, but regulatory changes mean they can't do that any more. But they can sell them. And death tribble buys them, cheap. His army of angry, mutilated, vengeful animals passed the hundred million mark recently.
  5. Re: The Last Word Hey, you use the CP as a crutch? See what happens when it goes flaky?
  6. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER "Relativistic Pickup of Interstellar Neutrals by Hadronic Jets" No, it's not about incest and international politics in the jet-set crowd. Rather more boring and incomprehensible.
  7. Re: The Last Word I was afraid of that. My condolences.
  8. Re: The Last Word We got her from the shelter. My wife went in just to inquire about what was required in order to foster a momcat & litter, and walked out with her and six week-olds and load of ancillary stuff. Someone else had found her & the litter in their back yard, but was not able to take care of them at their place. No collar or chip.
  9. Re: The Last Word It would be fascinating to know the story behind the momcat. Clearly she's used to living with people, and doesn't have a mean bone in her body when it comes to them; she obviously was disciplined with a spray bottle; and she clearly is of the firm belief that her place is on the bed.
  10. Re: The Last Word My wife & kids have given names to the six kittens we're fostering, but I don't expect those to stay with them once they leave.
  11. Re: A Thread for Random Musings My wife bought five seasons of Buffy on DVD yesterday. Costco was sold out of seasons I and IV. So I think she's looking hard for those before she starts in on the marathon.
  12. Re: Answers & Questions Q: THE D*** STARSHIP BLEW UP! On its maiden voyage! 2.7 quadrillion credits up in a ball of shrapnel and plasma! And we get the engineers' report back on the cause! F***IN' FRENCH FRIES IN THE FUSION CORE! Where it has to be ultrahigh vacuum to avoid the quark-antiquark annihilation instability runaway! WHAT ***** ****** ******** ** ****** **** WOULD PUT ******** ****** FRENCH FRIES IN THE FUSION CORE?!? What do you have to say about that, Mr. Starship Engine Vendor? A: I'd call that a case of sub-optimal customer relations.
  13. Re: Entangle in Fantasy Hero For the "poor mages", you might cost out a no-gestures Dispel working on Entangles only, or perhaps a STR Aid usable only vs. Grabs and Entangles.
  14. Re: The Last Word Must be bottle feed; the every two hours comment doesn't make any sense otherwise. Though the word "catsup" takes on new interesting potential meaning in that context....
  15. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Certain Unnamed Persons are doing 5-to-10 for pushing D20 products to minors.
  16. Re: The Last Word Snicker. You name kittens the way I name cities in Civilization. Though I tend to do it alphabetically.
  17. Re: The Last Word We stopped feeding ours dry stuff when Loki developed urinary tract problems and the vet told us we shouldn't feed him dry any more. Now, Loki's dead, so we could go back to just dry food, I suppose.
  18. Re: Why hasn't magic changed the world? Besides, in a world with real magic and super-powerful wizards who can do anything, I figure that all the problems are solved, but the Council of One Thousand have overlain an elaborate illusion on the whole world of conditions of misery, squalor, and disease. Then all they do is tweak the illusion a little once the money is at the right level, and poof! another illusory annoyance gets fixed, and they stay at the top of the heap, living off the real misery & squalor of others. In that respect, it's just like the modern world, but with ultra-powerful wizards in the place of ultra-rich CEOs.
  19. Re: Answers & Questions Q: So you've come from the 23rd Century to give me an office products catalog from the future. Hmm. Looks like undead slave labor is quite the thing to come. What's this gizmo featured on the cover? A: See, a zombie takes your job, you get despondent and go kill yourself, someone digs you up and turns you into a zombie, and then we buy the zombie and you have your old job back. That's the way the economy is supposed to work.
  20. Re: The Last Word Well, perhaps, but I think Siegfried had decided he didn't like what was left in the dish anyway. The boys are not real enthusiastic about the stuff we've been getting since the poisoned cat food affair.
  21. Re: Why hasn't magic changed the world? In a world with magic, there is still evolution. Germs have magic resistance. The strains with low resistance have already been wiped out. What's left is the stuff that doesn't keel over at the first spell. As for engineering and agriculture, the answers aren't quite so obvious. Who knows? Maybe crops grown with magic aid aren't as toothsome (pink bullet tomatoes, anyone?) or have other unintended side effects.
  22. Re: The Last Word When Momcat got out of her cell (we're keeping her and the kittens in our bathroom and bedroom), she made a beeline for Siegfried & Felix's dishes. Oddly, when Siegfried came out and discovered her there, he just came up and sniffed her. When she turned her head and growled, he growled back in sort of an obligatory fashion, stopping when she went back to eating. Eventually he finished sniffing and walked away. I hadn't expected that sort of reaction.
  23. Re: Musings on Random Musings So it's like the blue stuff they use in the toilets on airplanes?
