  1. Re: Evil Corporations Interesting. While I've used the "evil billionaire industrialist" and the "evil head of a foreign country", the PCs generally don't get involved in the corporate world and vice-versa, based upon unspecified PR fiascos common in the indeterminate past when companies meddle in superheroics. Superheroes as a commodity in my campaigns are usually the purview of governments (or militaries) rather than private interests. Although there are counterexamples I can think of, it's usually a matter of the corporation backing a super rather than the super being a foot soldier for a corporation. "Evil Corporation" is such a loaded concept nowadays, it strikes me as unnecessary to bring in in order to have fun.
  2. Re: VIPER teams in the Real World US! Someone obviously needs to play more RPGs.
  3. Re: A strange Detect I don't really know; it's got elements of Detect, Mind Scan, and Clairvoyance. It seems like it would be pretty expensive to build relative to its utility.
  4. I'm thinking of a power whereby a character can detect what sentient mind (if any) controls a specific machine, surveillance device, robot, etc., and then lock onto that mind for the purposes of mental powers and specific location. Anyone like to take a stab at this?
  5. Re: The cranky thread I love Christmas so much, I want to have sex with it. But it'd probably just turn me down like every other holiday.
  6. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat If I play incorrectly, forgive me my ignorance please! It is a sure sign that giving a picture of a vacuum cleaner to your Signficant Other for the holidays was a bad idea when he/she papercuts your wrists with it.
  7. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones, The Hives, Tyrannasaurus Hives Is it pathetic that the only music I listen to is game soundtracks?
  8. Re: My favorite player ain't coming back That is too bad- especially since Miss Terror is such a kickass name. My suggestion is to simply "pull the plug" on the subplots involving the character. It's perhaps unsatisfactory from a storyline standpoint, but if you indeed throw more stuff against the wall than Clairmont, it's not like you'll be wanting for material.
  9. Re: Inventing Inventing can be used I think to make something out of nothing, like MacGyver does, or it can be used as an excuse to invent technologies that are not available in the real world- teleporters, time machines, a cape that lets you fly.
  10. Re: The K Metal From Krypton Keith and RJ have it right- this is homage art. It's gotta be. But I am still unsure about the legitimacy of the script or plot coming from the 40s.
  11. Re: Complicate the Person Above Hey, cancer, remember that one time that you and me were out in the park smoking a doobie, and this bus of nuns came by, and you frikkin' MOONED THE NUNS? That was classic. The kids at the Dairy Swirl talk about it to this very day. Un Freaking Believeable, man. Wait, that wasn't me.
  12. Re: The K Metal From Krypton For those of you who are familiar with Magic: The Gathering.... this sounds very much like the long-lost Ice Age expansion that's coming out next summer. Whenever things get stale, the opinion-makers of the time change the length of our gestalt nostalgia lens... now, DC's looking at the 40's for Superman stories, and the Golden Age in general for some interesting new re-launches. It gives me a feeling of ambivalence when I see this happening, since I have "known" all along that the best source material comes from a time before continuity.
  13. Re: The House of El This link may help
  14. Re: The New Blue Beetle Sounds a lot like Marvel's Abner Jenkins Beetle.
  15. Re: Character for Review and Advice Soliciting My main suggestion is that calling her "the wife" will only end badly. If she's not important enough to be "my wife" or "my bride" or something sappy like that, then she's probably gonna feel left out of the game.
  16. Re: Luck and examples of luck. What a swell GM!
  17. Re: Help With Hydroelectric Dam Complexes In USA...? First, unless you intend to tour the area in question with your gaming group, you're probably better off nicking some info from a map or encyclopedia and making up your own scenario. Although there are good places to use, none can compare with the one only you can imagine. Second, if Hoover Dam went up (very unlikely, on account of its tremendously sturdy construction, contrary to popular movies and so forth), whatever happens in Vegas would end up downstream of Vegas.
  18. Re: Villian Creation Article The part about the emotions that drive a bad guy made a lot of sense. TY
  19. Re: Batman, the Disgustingly Powerful Ninja Considering Batman has been earning a minimum of one character point per month since midway through 1939, I'd wager to say he's in the 3000-4000 range now (even if you take out for the two Robins and Nightwing, and various and sundry other Bat-sidekicks). Even if you "reset" him in 1986 during the Crisis, he doesn't lose a heck of a lot- just some of his detective skills and other noncombat stuff, which he's earned back in the 19 years since. Trying to build the "real" batman on 350, 750 or 1500 is sheer folly, I think.
  20. Re: "Mostly Harmless" powers Stop me if you've heard this one before... A celphone, rollerblades, and a parrot for a sidekick See in the dark, blind in the light Scream really loud Impressive-looking (but not very good) armored costume Really bendy thumbs Extra elbow in your arm Really good hypnotist Throw your voice like a champ X-ray vision (not through solids) Owns giant-robot shoes (but not the rest of the robot) Perfect rhythm Transform: Nothingness into really great (but nonvaluable) accessories/jewelry Limbs can come off and act independantly (to the best of their limited ability) Give everyone within 20' or so a cold, whether you want to or not Perfect hair
