Even as a kid (I was reading LoSH back ages 7 to 9 -- that's 1963-65 for the full glorious Silver Age context) it never occurred to me that MEL had a goofy, stupid power.  (I am not sure I ever saw his origin story though; even back then my attitude was "Wait, everyone from this planet can do this?  That's not a superpower, that's a world full of people.  What dumb sort of world is it that only one of their people travels the galaxy?"  This applied to a number of Legionnaires, obviously, and I don't recall me thinking of MEL that way.)  The ability to eat anything is a novel joker of a power, letting you dispose of oddball things in an oddball way, as long you were OK with that stuff being absolutely unrecoverable.  Not real useful in classic comic-book combat, but something I definitely thought belonged on the roster with its ability to finesse your way out of some strange logical puzzles.

For comparison, in last Friday's session of a Feng Shui 2 campaign, we took a bad-guy henchman prisoner, and he proved to be resistant to our interrogation attempts.  In this campaign, I am playing Arrrgh, literally a demon from one of the Chinese hells, whom I've written about in a couple of Champions threads.  I asked offline whether we can extract more info from our captive if Arrrgh were to start biting chunks out of him literally and eating them in front of his eyes.  Our GM responded, in effect, with that will work until he dies of blood loss and you have a human body to dispose of.  To which my response was made with an in-character line: "If he dies, then I eat leftovers for a week.  I've had to do that before."  Now, how Arrrgh's fellow PCs will react to this is another question, but....

And if Ted gets elected, I'd bet you'd see Kanye grabbing the mike at the inauguration, saying how Beyonce should have been elected instead.

You can do interesting stuff with Superman.  You don't have to change the character.  Just because he always does the right thing, doesn't mean he has to be boring.  Most TV dads will always do the right thing, but that doesn't mean that they're all Danny Tanner.  I'm reminded of an episode from I think the first season of Lois and Clark (which was as far as I watched).  They're investigating some sort of mob-connected nightclub or something, and they each go undercover.  Clark gets a job as like a bouncer or bodyguard or something (Dean Cain was a big dude), while Lois tries to sneak in some other way.  Lois gets found out, and the mob guys tell Clark (whose cover is still intact) to get rid of her. So he carries her kicking and screaming out of the club into an alleyway, and is going to put her in a trash dumpster.  He uses his x-ray vision to scan the dumpsters.  One is empty.  The other is full of rotting garbage.  He glances towards the camera and gives just a little smirk.  He picks the one that is full of garbage and throws her in.

Just because he's lawful good, doesn't mean he's completely boring.  He enjoys practical jokes from time to time.

With Superman, you have to make sure you make Clark Kent an interesting character.  The hook there is that both Clark and the audience are in on a really fun secret, and nobody else is.

I've mentioned Awesome Gamer Girl occasionally on the forum, starting when we met back in late 2012. (I think?)

It's my great pleasure to announce that she's now Awesome Gamer Fiancee, and she'll become my Awesome Gamer Spouse on June 18th.

Also, I've been at my new job for a year as of May 30th. We've just replaced both of our old clunker cars, and finally finished laminating all the floors.

We're setting up for the Big Campaign Finale. One PC has a 20-something daughter with superpowers, who is following in Daddy's footsteps. (She's a DNPC, but also bought as a Follower.) Daughter wants to join the PCs on the Final Assault. The player is debating whether to bring her along or not; the player thinks it would be fun and they could use the additional firepower, but in-character the PC would be reluctant to expose his daughter to what is practically a suicide mission. Daughter really doesn't want to be left behind, and is wheedling Daddy to let her come.

Another player OOC: "As the father of two daughters, can we just skip ahead to the part where she gets her way? Trust me on this one."
