Wimbledon cancelled.  Postponement, even if the fall allows tournaments to be played, would be a real bear.  Also, as pointed out, at B/R, you get into, say, late August, and sunset is an hour to hour and a half earlier.  That would make scheduling that much more difficult.  Rainfall also goes up a bit;  by itself, that might not be a big deal, it's from 1.6 to 1.8".  But coupled with shorter hours of light for scheduling, any early delay would be more impactful.

the linear trajectory may be misleading because we are limited by the number of tests available.  The death trajectory, sadly, will be likely the most accurate measure of pace.  The next 3 months will be a combination of boredom, depression and terror.

OK, so I'm stuck at home and reading.  This one's one of Michael Anderle's KGU novellas from the "Frank Kurns Tales of the Unknown World" where the new character, Yelena, gets introduced.  She's got a mild power set...but one of them is dog-related.  She actually enhances her dog, just by being with her.  Other parallels would be a druid's animal companion in D&D, and how shamans make Great Dogs in Bujold's World of the Five Gods.

So...yeah...I like that.  I figured I'd buy the dogs as followers.  250 points.  And 2 of em, a black Lab male and yellow Lab female.  NOT all the points spent at this point but hey, I can add some more stuff or just cut the cost of the Followers back a little.

Spain passed China...at least in terms of officially reported cases...to take the #3 slot in number of cases.  They've been #2 in deaths, only behind Italy, for several days now.

Number of cases per million people, for the world as a whole, broke 100.  It was a touch under 93 yesterday.  Number of deaths per million people will break 5 tomorrow easily...went from 4.4 to 4.8 today.

Closer to home...yesterday, total # of deaths was Italy, Spain, China, Iran, France, USA.  Today, it's Italy, Spain, China, USA.  We passed France...despite the fact that over 400 people died today there.

A large part of the reason why France is willing to try the HCQ-AZ treatment is, discounting Andorra and San Marino where the sample sizes are too small for the death rates to be meaningful (that said, wow, San Marino is getting *hammered*....230 cases and 25 deaths out of a population of 33,000)...among the larger countries, France has the 4th highest mortality rate in the world.  Italy and Spain are suffering the worst by a huge margin;  Netherlands is 50 per M, France is at 46.

EDIT:  sorry!  Rephrase...I *think* a large part.  I stated as fact, it's not.  It's opinion, and not informed by anything but the numbers.  Lots of dead bodies means lots of pressure to respond *somehow.*

Just a bit of number crunching.  The top 2 rows' data from worldometers.com,(https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/) except for the population estimate...that's from cases per million and total cases.  The third's simple math, only here the cases /deaths per million people is computed from the total cases/deaths and estimated population.  Mortality rate is simply deaths/cases.

So the big upswing is, both infection rate and death rate go up about 10%.  The death rate goes up but not by enough to matter *yet*.  It's too early, there's too many variables at play for that mortality rate to be considered final.  And the data for Spain and Italy are disastrously high;  their mortality rates are about 8 and 10%.

It's always debatable, but Green Lantern...?  The power ring's not a focus, it's SFX.  Makes a sizable difference in the costing if you take that out...well over 100 points.  You also assigned a -2 to the yellow vulnerability?  -1/4, maybe -1/2.  Yeah, it does nothing against something yellow, but that doesn't represent a near-complete loss of functionality *generally*...which is what the limitation represents.

Shouldn't.  They are in direct violation of orders prohibiting the action they're taking.  Those orders have the force of law.  Description of the order from nj.gov:

So they're not simply breaking both aspects, but completely flouting them.

If I'm the DA, I dunno what charges I'd lay;  not that familiar with the law.  BUT...each and every person there almost has to get tested, IMO......and I charge the *host* a set amount for this.  As a fine, as part of his punishment.  Or maybe 2/3 to him (for everyone), and 1/3 to every party attendee individually.  That latter might not be an option if they don't want to charge every attendee...but that might be a blanket deal for NOT charging them with a crime.
