  1. Re: How do you Ignore Armor? To each their own play style, I was making a spell like what he asked for. I personaly would not disalow this spell in My games (and they can try to pry the 5edR from my cold dead hands). However I can see how it would me inaproriot in other games. (My current Fantasy game is very much on the Super Heroic level with 620 point characters however to each there own.) I have also played in games were the players were not allowed to have any "STOP" powers at all with out special permision & restricted to 30 AP attacks. But without info on the level of power of his game I created a spell that fit his desire.
  2. Re: Character for review: Apex Well I think he looks good to me, I would let you play him as a character in one of my games. With out the luck I would have reccemended higher Deffences, but if your GM makes liberal use of Luck you may find you have plenty of DEF. As for your disadvantages, I generaly discurage most characters from having more than one hunted, it just gets silly as they become points for free. What I have done in the past is had the Hunteds team up together to really show the hero a leson only to find out the players were taking hunteds to fill slots. I do not know which was your cause but you may want to consider if you really want to see the same bad guys that much? Over all I would give thumbs up, on the chracter though.
  3. Re: City of Heroes writeups I wrote up my Level 50 Blaster. Over All I was not very happy as the curve in the game is so strong. A single level 50 guy can Ice with out issue 50 Level 40 guys. (Unless one of them is a tank.) Now if you tried to write them up based on concept it would work better as you would not have cases were one guy gets mauled by literaly hundreds of level 53 Mobs and just waits for them to die.
  4. Re: OIHID and Multiform As a GM I would not allow this combo in this situation. There may be some were I would but this is not one of them. I think it crosses the line.
  5. Re: How do you Ignore Armor? This is a very power full spell for only 37 points 27: Tywill's Iron Maiden: RKA 1D6-1 (vs. PD), Personal Immunity (+1/4), AOE Accurate (+1/2), Does BODY (+1), AOE (4" Radius; +1), Selective (+1/4), AVLD (Having Natrural rPD or Magical rPD; +1 1/2) (27 Active Points); No Range (-1/2), Target Must Be Wearing "Aromor" (-1/2) How about the lesser maiden 13: Tywill's Iron Maiden: RKA 1 point (vs. PD), Personal Immunity (+1/4), AOE Accurate (+1/2), Does BODY (+1), AOE (2" Radius; +1), Selective (+1/4), AVLD (Having Natrural rPD or Magical rPD; +1 1/2) (27 Active Points); No Range (-1/2), Target Must Be Wearing "Aromor" (-1/2) Talk about burly, this guy is doing Body and Stun every attack to 99% of his fows.
  6. Re: Roll the dice once - worth anything? This is how we used to do the "Stun Lottery" when we were new to the game. Now I just use flat numbers X2 Stun by default, as it encurages players to take more "Normal Attack" dice. There was a time when useing the stun lottery that we all realised that it Always made since to put the same number of points in a RKA than an EB.
  7. Re: Latent Personality Traits I agree with Lemming, Now on a differnt note, this character sounds very cool. you should post her when you have her completed. (Along with any other background story for her.)
  8. Re: HERO System Vehicles I work in Engeneering and Inspection, I those skills DO NOT HELP!!!
  9. Re: The Hand's Death 3 point perk at most. 1D6 EB AOE Explosion +1/2, Severe side effect always happens "disentigration" -2, Trigger "I die" +1/4. You could even do it as a minor Shape change self into dust or a Images to create red light with the same master construct.
  10. Re: HERO System Vehicles I regret asking now. It seemsthis was a topic was a flame topic.
  11. Re: HERO System Vehicles Most of these complaints are addressed by flavor. I canot imagine the game being generic if when I wanted to make a Nebulizer Ray on my Ghost Fighter the rule book saying sorry 500 Active Point guns weigh 500 Tons and you cannot put that on your Ghost Fighter cause it is only 75 Tons. that is a GM call, for flavor (May be it should have been included in Star Hero but I cannot say for sure. Not to say I disagree with all of it but I feel even you understand that these numbers ould not be Generic but instead would fall under a Genre constriction.
  12. Re: HERO System Vehicles Sorry my bad, I was still thinking I get extra 50% dice for haymaker. Also if the complaint stands that vehicles are so strong that your bricks cannot break them, then consider making them weaker. Or giving the players the points it takes to make bricks like in the comics with HKA vs. Inamite objects. I do not think I have the answers to a system you would like but I think no changes are needed to the current system. I cannot get the file to post for some reason, but for the record it was in Game Trade Magazine June 2002 or June 2003. It is titled Hulk Smash or something like that.
  13. Re: HERO System Vehicles I personaly am imagining the Hulk from the movie with his 70STR (up to 60 STR higher when he is mad. I like th one published for HERO and it went over 130 total). When he attacks the Tank (20 DEF Main battle tank listed on page 51 of TUV) with his mostley mad 100 STR haymaker for 30D6 damage that does 10 body, he then hits it multiple times to disable it. This same character doing a brace or move through option would be even more impresive. For the stats for the HULK lets look here at this nice PDF that was published. For some reason it is not letting me upload the PDF. any one have an idea?
  14. Re: Berserker Rage Buildup Have you thaught about buying a base power for all these and then adding a Succor/Aid that is trigered by rage? Then the character could get more and more powerful as he stays enraged longer. I would put a -1/4 only in hero ID on the base powers to represent that they only get used while enraged.
  15. Why do you not like them? I am sure it has been considered by many but... I realy like the HERO way of doing vehicles, in fact I like them better than any other system I have played in except maybe the Pure War Gaming Systems. Bringing this up because of this thread http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32414
  16. Re: Mad and Stupid... with a touch! Well not watching much anime could I guess it to be Dragon Knight?
  17. Re: Mad and Stupid... with a touch! Well it is not very complicated this way but I think it may do what you want. If it has less effect or requires multiple touchs consider changing the level of the power. The Bad Touch: Multipower, 63-point reserve 6u 1) Fondle: Drain INT & EGO 4d6, [two powers] simultaneously (+1/2) (60 Active Points) 5u 2) Lude Basterd: Drain INT & EGO 2d6+1, Personal Immunity (+1/4), [two powers] simultaneously (+1/2), AOE (4" Radius; +1) (63 Active Points); Lude Act Must Be Seen to Affect Target. (-1/4) I do not think the first one needs the gestures limitation as Drain requires contact already, I would only consider it a FX of the power.
  18. Re: Limited VPPs I would consider the "Spells" as a -1/4 limitation, While the "Moon Spells" I would consider a -1/2 limitation. If you think about it how much of an advantage would a character with out those limitations have in utility over those two caster? Quite a bit I think over the "Moon Caster" and a measurable differnce from the "Spell Caster". Roll it over in your head from the players view and that works alot some time. "My GM wants me topay full cost for a power but not get full utility out of it?" "My GM will give me a 20% cost break for some minor restrictions" "My GM will give me a 33% cost break for some moderate restrictions" Another thing to consider lets look at other -1/4 limitations in the book. Like IIF, Activation -15, Delayed Phase, Power Does not Work in Intense Magnetic Fields or Not Under Water. Not very limiting eh? I often think comparing as a GM, would I as the player rather have this limitation over that one? If the answer is so easy it is not worth asking then you have not found the limitation level; however if you do have reasonable things to weigh against then you are likely in the right bracket.
  19. Re: Multiple-Power Attacks--Untenable Rule although not used often I allow them in my games and my NPC's use them also. They have never caused that big of a stir as they are very pricy, cost tons of end & when you miss you cry. However we did have an NPC with control over the four elements. With his 4 seperate 50 AP attacks combined he could do as much damage to a target as a single 75 AP attack most of the time, but was still hard pressed to hurt the tanks. The players never hated him nor di they decide at that point they all needed to make Multiple Power attacks all the time.
  20. Re: How would you do this? I would as a GM give -1/2 no the "No Repeat Attemts" limitation and -1/4 for the USB port required. This would give a -3/4 limitation value. So I would reccemend buying the power like this. 6: +5 Computer Programming; No Repeat Attemts -1/2, Requires USB -1/4, 10 Active Points.
  21. Re: The Wheel of Time Been there, I once wrote up over 40 pages of rules for my Wheel of Time Game only to have it fall flat when two players had read the series and the other four could care less. The game was fun for every one except those of us familiar with the setting. No one even cared what the titles incured. "You see a small band of Aeil, the look concerned over something and a couple are walking with their hands over their vails ready to pull them to face at any moment." Player, "Aeil cowerds I bet whatever they are afraid of is just a ogrier or something" Other players, "Crap!"
  22. Re: The Wheel of Time Or even more likely is that Robert Jordan will never finish the books, and we will have his children or some fan come along and tell us what was meant to happen. He is an odler man and retirement and/or death often comes with age.
  23. Re: New FH GM looking for advice For the beer and pretzels games I would recemend all the alternaive games from Steve Jackson Games, Minchkin, Illuminati, Cheez Geek, and others. They are fun little one night games, that help keep the night tuned into the gamming atmosphere.
