This ones' from a Champions game I ran a few years ago...

The characters had gone to see a concert by one of the oldest rock bands still around, the Standing Stones (basically the campaign world's analogue to the Rolling Stones). Early on, they get gouged for ticket prices, and people comment.

It turns out that the Standing Stones are secretly a group of black-magic creatures; the lead singer is basically a Death Knight, the drummer is basically a Liche, the lead guitarist is an animated Wood Golem (created as a guard) and the bassist is a Vampire.

A harrowing fight ensues, during which the Standing Stones almost kill Mockingbird, one of the team's heroines and a very well-loved character. Her fiancee goes basically bananas, and while usually the heroes capture villians, this time Starfire, the plasma-projecting flying energy blaster, just has a total freak-out, and systematically destroyes the Standing Stones, one by one.

And looking at the carnage of their remains, strewn about the stage in front of thousands of horrified fans, Silk, the little blonde martial artist with the spirit of an Eastern Gold Dragon bound into her (basically looking like Buffy in a costume) says this...

"Gee...*toes at a bit of smouldering remains of what had minutes before been the worlds most widely-know rock band*...if they know it was going to be their last show...they could have charged more"

    ________

Okay, different game, same player. Our characters are all high-school students who have recently found out that we have been granted super-powers by ancient Gods. The aforementioned player's character is named Michael, and hes a football player...and the most popular boy in our grade...and hes smart...and hes also a nice guy (which makes people secretly hate him even more, especially Eric the nerd whom nobody notices when Michael's around).

Michael is the only one of us with a car, so hes picking people up so that we can go outside of town and practice with our new powers. He arrives at the home of Indira, who was raised in California, but whose parents immigrated to the US from India.

Indira drags Michael inside to meet her mother, thinking that this will somehow defuse her mothers temper, if she gets to meet the boy with the car. Apparently it didnt work out as well as shed hoped...and Michael didnt really help, but you gotta give the guy credit for guts, when the following exchange takes place...

Indiras mother: Very well....I agree to allow my daughter to accompany you in your car....BUT!...if you impregnate my daughter, i shall call down a thousand thousand curses upon you!

Michael *looks thoughtful for a half second*: ....Thats fair.

Modifying an storyline from a Silver Knight fanfic with some characters and situation moved around:

The scenario revolves around two super teams: the Silver Knights and the Claw (super team arm of FIST, ie a VIPER analogue). Nova of the Silver Knights had fallen in love with the secret ID of one of the Claw's members: Lasher. When she found out she went livid and nearly killed him but the two made up when she realized how deeply he felt about her. A secret affair went on for over a year even as the two teams clashed repeatedly.

Finally, one of FIST's major commanders Deathstorm (and heavy weight super) launched a scheme to blackmail the world through a nuclear strike. With the gloves off, the Silver Knights strike only to be defeated. When the deadline passes, Deathstorm decides to launch. Lasher decides to side with the Knights and frees them. In the battle, it's found out that Deathstorm's armor will send the final command and he needs to be taken out to stop the missiles from exploding. DS is pretty much unstoppable and scatters the team to the winds. Just before he can kill Nova, Lasher attacks Deathstorm with a lethal strike only to be mortally wounded. In a huge explosion, DS and his armor are destroyed and the world is saved.

As Lasher is dying, Nova cradles the man in her arms and both are crying as they are overcome with grief. He starts to lament that he was so selfish and only cared about himself.

"Sssshh.." Nova whispered as she stroked his burned face. "Don't talk like that my love. You're a hero, you saved the whole world."

A shaking hand coated with blood reached up to caressed Nova's cheek while a smile touched his lips despite the pain and tears. "I just wanted to save *you*."

They do if they've started a collection. Maybe Death Tribble collects "toes of people threatening to shoot me on Internet bulletin boards."

Then, if someone shot one of those toes, DT would only have 9 more chances to complete his collection.

That would be a serious threat. Well, not so much a threat, as an annoyance. A very small annoyance. And not so serious, either. But it would be something!

Sunday's D&D: The party (human, dwarf & 2 elves) walk into a inn [yeah, there's got to be a joke here somewhere] to start off their investigation of why the town's populace is declining and the attitudes are no longer friendly. A round of drinks are ordered for the group at their table. The dwarf walks up to the bartender at the bar.

Dwarf: I'm going to buy the beer a drink.

Bartender: Would you like one for yourself as well?

The food for the players is drugged and it affects one elf and the other elf's wolf. The second elf can tell something is wrong, but isn't affected; she plays along as being drugged. When it's just the dwarf and the human, the people in the bar try to subdue them, but fail. A big fight takes place, one subduer dies, three get away and three are beaten. The human is fine, but the dwarf is down to 3 hp.

After interrogating the survivors, the party decides to go to the temple to investigage further, but needs to leave one person behind to watch the prisoners.

Dwarf: (Paraphrasing) I don't want to go, I'm down to 3hp, I'll die.

GM (me): I'm going to tell you this just one time. You are the priest. You have healing skills and healing spells.

Elf: Weren't you just bragging about you being the only priest in the group half an hour ago?

    Dwarf: Oh yeah.

GM: Now... (goes on to "remind" him how to use his healing skill & his healing spells.).

Later, most of the party (sans dwarf) is at the temple trying to see if they can get some answers there. One of the elves gets bored and starts doing handstands.

Priestess: Please don't do those in here.

Elf: Very well. (Goes outside to the lawn. Sees a caretaker and starts doing handstands.) I like doing acrobats.

    Other player: Whore.

You know you need a new lawyer WHEN....

During your initial consultation, he tries to sell you Amway.

He tells you his last good case was a "Budweiser"

When the prosecutors see who your lawyer is, they high-five each other.

He picks the jury by playing "Duck-duck-goose"

During the trial, you catch him playing his Gameboy.

A prison guard is shaving your head..

Every couple of minutes, he yells "I call Jack Daniels to the stand!" and downs a shot.

He frequently gives juror number 4 the finger.

He places a large "NO REFUNDS" sign on the defense table.

He begins his closing with "As Ally McBeal once said..."

Just before he says "Your Honor", he makes little quotation marks in the air with his fingers.

The sign in front of his office reads "Practicing law since 2:30pm".

Whenever his objection is overruled, he tells the judge "Whatever."

He giggles every time he hears the word "briefs".

Sigh...not hero (sob) but funny none the less.

We're playing in an Eberon game. I'm behind the reigns of a bossy human Artificer of house Cannith (Adam), and my friend is playing my Warforged Bodyguard (Hammer). Story behind the two is that I built him before the end of the war and we then served untill it ended.

    Quotes:
Hammer: "...then you can bind an air elemental to me, and I could fly!"
    Adam: "No! No flight!"
    Hammer: "Why not?"
Adam: "Because first you'll want wings! Then you'll want BLADES ON THEM!"

    ------------------

    Adam: "Uh oh. Iron Defenders."
    Hammer: "Ooh...DOGGIES! I WANT A DOGGIE!"
Adam: "No Hammer. No dogs. Umm...hows this. You go first and destroy them, and I'll stay here."
Hammer: "No. I want a doggie!"
Adam: "What? No dogs Hammer. Now destroy them so we can search the room and get out of here."
Hammer: "No. I want one of THOSE doggies!"
Adam: "Hammer. Axe. Doggies. Now. I'll make you one later."

    ------------------

Sinister Man: "I have heard tales of your group's exploits and know of your reputation to be both effective and discreet."
    Hammer: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...(continues for a while)"
Adam: "Do you want me to help you find these 'discreet' guys you keep going on about because there's no way in HELL you can be talking about us."
    Hammer: "(still laughing)"
Adam: "Maybe you're talking about my cousin? Alvin duCannith? He's kind of discreet...well...compared to us at least..."
Sinister Man: "No, I'm positive it's you."
    Hammer: "(still laughing)"

    -----------------------

Little explaniation about this one. We were on an airship looking for a vampire that was on-board and were in our cabin discussing tactics.

Adam: "Okay, when we find him, what do we do with the captin demanding we stay in our cabbin like that?"
Hammer: "I want to ride the vampire all the way to the ground! It would make one hell of a crater, AND he'd be turned into goo!"
Adam: "Umm...Hammer, I didn't build you to survive that kind of a fall..."
Hamer: "Yeah, but THINK of the crater we'd make!"

    Ugh...the thing's I put up with...

I thought of a very amusing practical joke.

Get a group of people together and dress all but one of them up in Orange Jump suits that say Department of Corrections and get the other person dressed up to look like a warden but not enough to give the impression your impersonating an officer. It won't matter that much.

As a group go to a movie theater about half-way through the previews. Sit in the middle section near the front and have the "warden" on the end. About 30 minutes into the movie, have one of the people in an orange jumpsuit stand up, look around, and leave through the emergency exit. Make sure the warden doesn't act like he noticed this happened.

Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.

The first surprise was how easy the headache she had vanished. She just thought that she should not have one. The second surprise was her appearance. Ok so she had jet black skin, golden eyes, white hair and lots of stuff with spiders on it. But who or indeed what did that make her ?
Hurrah for the internet ! She input all the stuff into google and came back with info on the Black Elves, the Drow and particularly those loyal to their chief goddess Lolth. Funny thing was she did not feel like a worshipper more like one who was worshipped.
Lolth however could turn into a spider and she couldn't do that. And she was not on the fantasy worlds. Normal Drow however had red eyes and traitors had purple ones. Hers were golden. Cars ran by outside and she was using computers.
So what was wrong with this picture ?
Then the revelation, the one piece of information that made the puzzle complete. Part of an interview she had given was recorded on a D100 website recited by the Morbid Gerbil. Now it all made sense ! She couldn't turn into a spider because of legal agreements she signed never meaning to keep them. Well she was Chaotic Evil after all. The shame of it was that it also prevented her from killing people. Oh Phooey !
What's the point of being an evil Goddess if you couldn't kill people ? But the lawsuits would bankrupt Witches of the Beach went the argument. So what ? And that wasn't all. She had to wear underwear while on earth. Oh the idiocy of it all ! Just because of one incident where she sunbathed naked on top of the WoTB Castle at GenCon and thus got a lot of neckbraces for the poor fanboys who strained their necks as a result. This was just one detail among other things. Others included her personal vehicle, the spider ship which was the Ford Pinto of the transport of the gods.
The MG had recorded a lot of info. He was obviously devoted to her despite the fact that she had used him as a tennis ball on one occasion and seemed as evil as her. Quite mad as well. Not as looney and demented as some idiot who had stolen one of her titles and also named himself after her home.
Now she had purpose and drive. She was obviously a stranded avatar of Lolth. So find the creator Gygax and get him to break the agreements and find the Morbid Gerbil for more help and an idea of why she lost her memory.
In the meantime she could be evil. Well it would be fun if nothing else.

The character is an attempt on one idea. What if you wrote something up on the Net and someone read it and felt it was true of them ? 'Lolth' is schizoid and has adopted the first personality that resembles what she feels she is.

Same here. I went and married a woman who loves Country music (and supports my gaming habit, among other virtues.) Now, I'd classify myself an old time Rock and Roll man, but the sad truth is that MTV and VH1 don't play videos anymore. CMT does. Thus I was introduced to the wide spectrum of 'Country Music'...and...well...

    I like some of it.

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of the standards I can't stand. George Strait's music makes me lunge for the remote. Yet, in there, there is a bunch of artists that are damn good, and don't take themselves too seriously, and play fun and touching music.

Then it hit me that those are the qualities I liked in my Rock and Roll. The rap I do listen to is that way, as well. Classical, too.

Country, when it comes right down to it, is like every other style of music. There are some truly great artists, but most of what you hear on the radio is 'pop' country. Which - like a lot of pop music - is hit or miss with the emphasis on the latter. Most have built their careers on the fluffing of videos, where you don't notice as much when the music is tepid as long as the visuals are stimulating.

    However, everyone likes Johnny Cash.

Not liking Johnny Cash means you want the terrorists to win. You don't want the terrorists to win do you?!
