  1. I picked up both "The Ultimate Brick" and "Reality Storm: When Worlds Collide" yesterday. I've read through "TUB" several times and really liked what I read. The rules refinement for Objects was awesome and the section on Mass (weights of raw elements and common materials). Check it out you'll understand better. The Interior Art was not as consistantly good a previous products and in some cases didn't have anything to do with the text. I would havew liked to see more of the Sidebars filled with flavour. Like in "USDB". Or different examples and uses of the same Brick Tricks. Creative interpretations, etc...(you folks gave us so much and all we want is more.) The characters are useful. Two of the Heroic ones I placed dirrectly into my own Battletech HERO campaign. I look forward to future products in the Ultimate series. On a scale of One to Ten I'd have to give it a 8.5 (the Interior Art kept it from being a 9.5 IMOO ). Sincearly yours QM

  3. Re: Killing Charachters/Villians in your games. Do you do it? Having Played and GM'ed Champions off and on for several years. I have only killed one character. Bohdi Li(War Child) an alien cloned super soldier who forsook ranged weapons. On earth he became a superhero. His team was capture by the VIPER amd the Sinister Samuria. They were all being held in Deathtrap Cells. Knowing that the only way to escape was to distraction. Bohdi Li challenged the Sinister Samuria to a duel. Which he accepted(aren't Psych Lims wonderful). They moved to the training gymnasium. Surounded by VIPER Agents and confronting the Sinister Samuria. The Agents watching the other prisoners were distracted by the duel on their monitors and the Heroes escaped, just as Bohdi Li was struck down. It took VIPER 30mins to realize that their prisoners had escaped. By then the Heroes had regained their equipment and launched assault with the help of UNTIL. Almost 6 months later found cryo chambers in an abandoned warehouse. Inside was Bohdi Li. According to the computers he was alive, but had a tatoo on his forehead and arm. "MALACHITE !!!"(aka Telios) Cheers QM
  4. Re: Range Combat: Gun Fu & rule changes Thanks RDU Niel, what I was hoping for is a general consensus by the crew working so hard to improve Firearms Combat rules. And the hope they could write it up as Charts and Tables type stuff or as Autofire Skills. Better ? QM.
  5. Re: Range Combat: Gun Fu & rule changes Heh Guys, could you please write it up so all the work is laid out in HERO style format. Thanks QM. P.S.: Heh RDU Niel you Luck Chit House Rules are a smash hit in my Battletech HERO campaign. Charging a Needler Machine Pistol used up a lot of luck. . It also translates into Re-roles only for Battletech Board GameRules.
  6. Re: Marvel Comic's "Secret Wars 2" Sorry Dude, this is a new mini series and it looks awesome. Check it out. QM
  7. Greetings HEROphiles, I was at the comic shop last week and saw a copy of "Secret Wars 2" issue two of six and picked it up and checked it out. WOW !!!. The art work is awesome and the story premise and writting are equally awesome. The Premise: SHIELD has discovered that KillerShrike and several armoured costumed supervillians are being supplied their gear by the Tinkerer. Their equipment is worth millions of dollars, yet their crimes net them no where near what their gear is worth. From one supercriminal they learn that the Tinkerer is being sponsored by second party. SHIELD agent Natasha Romanova tracks the Tinkerer to Latervia where he is picked up by an Official Government Vehicle. Nick Fury goes to the President with the evidence, but they decide to pursue a diplomatic solution. Fury decides the governmnet is wrong and pursues his own agenda. He gathers together a team inclueding; Captain America, Spiderman, DareDevil, Luke Cage(PowerMan), the BlackWidow, Wolverine, and an mystery woman. All with their own Viginetets. Their mission to overthrough the new Latervian government. This defeinitely needs to written into "Villiany Amok". Too Cool for words. QM.
  8. Re: [Western Champions] Chamions of the West Super Team Heh JmOz, I like the concept, but the Gunslinger sounds almost like an Immortal, Revenant, or Lazarus. My haps he bears a artifact that prevents him from dying or was cursed. Perhaps he is a Voodoo Petro Zombie free of the Hougans control. Deadshot? Nick Deadman; Revenge seeking undead gunslinger Until we meet again QM
  9. Re: We're Gonna Need Guns I think your gonna lose out if you forget adding in some Old West guns. For those themed characters. I'm gonna need a Winchester Rifle, a Colt Peacemaker, and a Thunderer Pistol (a pistol retooled to fire rifle rounds). Blam, blam, "STOP!", Blam,"POLICE" - HCPD. QM
  10. Re: BattleTech Hero Ability Question Heh Rasalhague_Bear, sorry I haven't posted a reply earlier. We are only using the Rules from Classic Battletech Master Rules (Revised) and the Luck Rules. No others. See yah Wednesday QM
  11. Re: Reference For DC Hello folks, there are tons of great references for Dark Champions. The Iron Age of Comics provided hordes of bad examples and a few good ones. I'll list a few of my favourites. Comic Books: Checkmate by DC. The Vigilante by DC. The Punisher by Marvel(selected issues). ShadowHawk by Image. Shadowman by Valiant. BloodShot by Valiant. Eternal Warrior by Valiant. Nightman by Valiant?. Batman: Dark Night by DC. Movies and Television: La Femme Nikita Mission Impossible The Pretender Ronin (w/Robert DiNero) The Bullet (w/Steve McQueen) The Replacement Killers The Mask (w/Jet Li) "Shoot straight, conserve ammo, and never ever cut a deal with a gamer." QM
  12. Re: The Harbinger of Justice Thread Greetings HEROdom, I for one am glad to see the Blue Cresent Moon killer of antiquity . I found him an excellent foil for many a Dark Champions:HEROes of Vengence Campaigns. While every GM in our campaigns invariably removed the "Teleporting Weapons" and simply turned him into a Master Marksman and Master Spy. One of the players even had him in one of his Alternate IDs as a Contact. I always told my players that he wasn't exactly as written in the DC:HoV write-up. Made there lives interesting occassionally and even acted as a stop gap measure for PC's stepping over the edge from Vigiliante to Mass Murderer. Then the Hunter became the Hunted. Let Justice be done. QM.
  13. Re: Gadgets and Gear: Review I picked it up about three weeks ago and have gone through it multipul times. This book like other HERO products is well organized and indexed(thank DoJ). The Format makes it easy to understand and use. The best part are the Gadgets themselves. I personally have already modified or tailored to preference a multitude of go-go-gadgets. They managed to cover all the major stuff, and left enough stuff open to allow GM or Players soe creative freedom. All in all I can see a lot of Gadgeteers, Inventors, and Gadgets users wanting this book. I also think that many characters are going to want acess to underworld Armourers and Inventors as Contacts and/or resources. The writing is excellent and the art well chosen. I would have liked to have seen more interior art and flovour added simular to The UNITL Superpowers Data Base, but you can't have it all Precious. I think it would make a great addition to any Gamers library and expect to see my copy dog eared within the next six months. Cheers QM P.S.: My favourite addition is a Shield ultra slot that allows the wielder to surf(if you will) down hills, down water/snow/ice, any appropriate surface using Flight, Only on appropriate surfaces. (ala Captain A).
  14. Re: DARK CHAMPIONS: What Do *You* Want To See? TheQuestionMan I am looking forward to this GENRE book for the Espionage and Military, Mercenary, Terrorist Sub-Genres (or is it Meta Genres). Some examples like La Femme Nikita, Mission Impossible, The Pretender, and every good Cop/PI show out there. This sounds good. How about a Teaser to get a feel for what you have planned. CHAPTER TWO -- CHARACTER CREATION: optional "Resource Points" rules for managing characters' equipment and other resources. SuperPheemy has a good point here ! I'd like to see some treatment on how Law Enforcement (the Super SWAT teams I mentioned in your "Guns" thread) evolves to deal with a Dark Champions universe. Things like how such a unit is organized, where they draw personnel from (for example, not only would a Super SWAT have Police Recruits, but it would bring volunteers from Fire Departments, and Paramedics as well.) Oh, and a teaser on Criminal Insanity. How a twisted mind gets twisted. Obsessions, manias, etc… Along with treatments, causes, and evolutions. You could almost do an entire sourcebook on that one (you didn't really need those last three hours of each day for sleep anyway...) Spence echo’s my thoughts one this. It’s important for really gritty style games. CHAPTER THREE -- FORENSICS: A basic primer on criminalities and forensic pathology. A basic primer on how Private Investigation/Detective agencies, Bail Bond, Repo Companies, and other legitimate companies who operate at the "fringe" of the legal/law enforcement system work. 15. Re: We're Gonna Need Guns Digital HERO #10 and a fine artical it is. Flechette Rounds - do higher damage vs unarmored or soft armored targets and no damage vs hard targets (I want something official on this one). You could also reference a SR Dumpshock website called FIREARMS. Really educational for gunbunnies and wannabes.
  16. Re: Supervillain Images Bumped to preserve freshness
  17. Re: Heros of the Earth Blue beat me to the punch on both.
  18. Re: End of an Era End of an Era (Seeking Closure) Good day Sir, we hope this message finds you well. I and others are seeking closure with reguards to how your campaign ended in Victory ? or Defeat ?. In other words. Cough it up already you swarmy, cliff hanging, tune in next week little... ah hem. Sincearly yours QM.
  19. Re: Need Help with Character Background Thanks Ghost-Angel, I'll correct his pseudonym. As for the character story that would be cool to work with you on it. I just feel that the story as written is rough edged and needs polishing. I'm curious if HERO would be interested in opening a Writer's Forum ?. You that King
  20. Re: Need Help with Character Background Good day HEROphiles, character writing tips and Grammer help. I have recently managed to break through my writers block, but my grammer has gone bad. Also any suggestions about the write up are always appreciated. Thanks QM.
  21. Greeting HEROphiles, I need help from some of the better writer's on these boards. I've got a rough character story wrtten down, but it needs polish and I've come asking for you help. Comments, Constructive criticism, and HELP are greatly appreciated. Aloha !!! Champions: Legacy HERO CRUSADER-2 Background/History: Redstone was VIPER's Vancouver Nest leader and was frustrated with the Council of Thirty’s hoarding the resources of Dragon Branch. Finally he contacted Teleios (fka; Malachite) and commissioned a pair of cloned superhuman operatives, fanatically loyal only to him. He used former members of VIPER’s Mobile Squadron-Alpha (VMS-Alpha) via Teleios’ memory induction process. Redstone named them Alpha and Omega and they have served him loyally for years. Redstone ordered Omega and a Hunter-Killer squad to eliminate new Superhero interfering with VIPER’s operations, but encountered the vigilante mentalist MindMaster (aka;Mastermind Enemies of S.A.) instead. Who defeated them easily. When Omega awoke he found MindMaster looking down upon him with glowing eyes. He felt something deep within himself snap and knew that he was free of Redstone’s control. But VIPER would not let him walk away and Redstone would order a Hunter-Killer squad after him as well. MindMaster offered him a way out, by becoming double agent. They could expose Redstone’s VIPER operations and the Nest. Omega agreed and MindMaster left. When the squad awoke they followed protocol when encountering Mentalists. They waited at designated point to be cleared by a Watch Agent from “the Clutch†(Project Awakening). They were cleared and followed standard procedures before returning to the Nest. Redstone was not pleased, but agreed that our escaping capture made up for it. The target had abandoned his Secret ID and vanished. Omega continued to act as Redstone’s Bodyguard and Leftenant commanding Agents in the field. Several operations failed due to Superhero interference. Redstone suspected a leak and called in the Watch. They found out several agents dirty secrets, but no Mole. Alpha noticed Omega’s change in behaviour and informed Redstone. Early the next morning Omega arrived to report duty .Only to find Alpha and a Hunter-Killer squad waiting in Redstone’s office for him. Alpha accused him of betraying their master and the sentence was death. While Alpha ranted on and the HK’s watched, Omega palmed a Flash-Bang Pellet and crushed it. Momentarily senseless Omega attacked. The battle was fast and brutal. Unable to defeat Alpha and the whole Nest he fled on a VIPER-Cycle and into the city. Knowing he was in trouble he decided to give them something else to do other than chase him. He called UNTIL and told them the location of the VIPER Nest, the Nest Leaders name, and locations of several of their operations. Then he called Redstone and told him what he’d done and that he was coming to kill him. Then he hung up, abandoned the bike and walked away. Omega hit a couple of VIPER’s cash operations to improve his finances, found a safe house, and tried to decide what to do next. He knew the Underworld, the Superhuman World, and VIPER, but nothing else. VIPER would try to hunt him. Teleios may try to capture to discover how he broke his conditioning. He decided to keep VIPER off balance by striking at their operations, but how to keep them from identifying their attacker as him. He watched television and lived on take out a week. Then he saw a documentary on the deceased vigilante “Crusaderâ€. It detailed his crime fighting career, interviews with Superheroes who new him, and the mystery of who he really was? It was followed by a commentary on superheroes. Somewhere in that documentary he discovered how he could strike back at VIPER? Using his knowledge of the Underworld’s Armourers he contacted several and commissioned the equipment and supplies he would need. Using documents created by an expert forger he assumed the identity of an anonymous, but professional bodyguard. Personality/Motivation: Omega (now David Walker) wants to live free. He also wants to strike back at those who enslaved him. At first being the new “Crusader†was simply a means to an ends, but now he has made the originals "Mission" his own. Quote: "You'll pay for your crimes Redstone. You and all your kind" Powers/Tactics: As “Crusader†he is an expert Martial Artist and Weapon Specialist with the Shield, combined with the gadgets and gear from his Utility Belt. He strikes from surprise or uses his superior abilities and training to out manuever his opponents. As David Walker the bodyguard he is polite, conscientious, and professional. His only goal is to get the principal to safety. Campaign Use/Plot Seeds: 1.) Teleios (fka; Malachite) Watches Omega with some amusement and may from time to time try to manipulate him. 2.) Redstone discovers that “Crusader†is really Omega and sends Alpha and HK squad after him. Or send Alpha out disguised as “Crusader†to commit crimes and turn the Law Enforcement Agencies and Superheroes against him. 3.) Superheroes and friends of the original Crusader confront the impostor who has assumed his mantel. 4.) The original Crusaders' Rogues Gallery believing him to be the original begin hunting him. Appearance: David Walker (fka; Omega) is 6'2"tall, 225lbs, with short brown hair, pale blue eyes, and clean shaven face. He typical wears a business suits as a bodyguard, but t-shirt and jeans when off duty. He has the body of an Olympic gymnast. His costume is a modified armoured version of the original Crusader's costume, with darker colours and a stylized helmet.
  22. Re: Galactic Champions Word I downloaded the play test with only minor interest. The setting is not one I've ever played and Cosmic level characters have always seemed a little munchie. IMOO... AWESOME DUDES !!! The wrting alone makes for great reading. The section on Character Creation has provided more insiration than you can shake a stick at, and the Logic behind the rise and fall of Super-Technology and Powers was fantastic. Defender C3K's version Write up and background make me wonder if enforcer84 or Surbrook are moon lighting on the project. His Backgound is fantastic. The rest of the team is going to be a real treat and ChaosDragon is absolutely right about Mechanon(and his little friends). The C3K villains are cool(must read more). As a sub-genre I would say it's made me think about running it. Man oh man I'm gonna hve to give up coffee in the morning to buy this book. QM.
  23. Good day HEROphiles, It looks like Dean's done it again. Writing too much and forcing DoJ to publish "Arcane Adversaries". We'll I for plan to show my displeasure by buying said books as soon as DoJ releases them, That'll put him in his place. All kidding aside, I can't wait to get a look at what he's done this time. It looks like "The Mystic World" is in good hands. After reading Galactic Champions I am wondering if we'll be seeing Cosmic Mystic heroes soon. Perhaps DoJ could release a "Enemies" book sooner and inclued "Arcane Adversaries" inside. You could even expand "Arcane Adversaries" and present several settings worth of "Enemies". Fantasy, Swashbuckler, Victorian, Pulp, Champions, Dark Champions, Galactic Champions, etc... Instead of a setting specific book you would get a multi setting "Mystic Enemies" sourcebook. IMO AWESOME DUDES !!! QM - "FanBoy"
