Complete freedom on the part of one person is bound to conflict with the complete freedom of someone else; so society attempts to set reasonable boundaries, qualifications, and exemptions to balance the rights of the individual with the necessities for society as a whole.
 
Refusal to accept any sort of restriction on private gun possession or use (as one example) is just blindly dogmatic.

How about retro skills competitions? Groups of people are assigned randomly determined ancient skills, a how to PDF and some materials. Who does the best at glassblowing, operating a loom, starting a fire, blacksmithing, etc. The competitors are filmed at their efforts and the results evaluated.

Just because a country wins wars doesn't make it a good country to live in.

I wonder if that wouldn't actually improve Congress.  Certainly it would help weed out some of the obsolete old fossils that otherwise can't be gotten rid of.

OK, I'd like to talk about Alien species in SFRPGs including ones you might borrow from other sources and stick directly into a game you're creating.
 
For a little known pair of entries, icd like to bring up the Spectrals and the Dragoncrests from the Living Steel RPG. You can look them both up on the net but in short the spectrals are implacable bad guys who must feed on sentient races to live and have some unique methods of invading a world in a way that lets them maximize the chances of each spectral feed directly on a sentient being. They kinda border on mystic in some ways but have a hard sf feel to them in some.

Dragoncrests are a less hostile alien species and have some interesting views of philosophies that might make them an interesting addition to a sf campaign.

Moving onto a RPG alien more people might have heard of, there are the kafer from 2300. These guys are very alien physically and mentally, possessing volatile intelligence that goes up when the kafer experiences fear, pain, danger, hunger, etc. Think of something like the human adrenal gland except it briefly boosts brain power intead of physical abilities. Traveller's hivers are an interesting species that evolved from a non predatory, non carnivorous species that have a fundamentally and radically different mentality than many species, but a logical, plausible one nonetheless. They eschew and even abhor violence and are essentially natural socialists who prize cooperation and responsible manipulation for the common good. Look up traveller hivers if you're unfamiliar with them.

I have a real problem here. I think that the right wing (in any country) are a real problem. I do not think that we have an equivalent left wing issue to point to.
 
Those who oppose right wing marchers have a problem in that those marchers often consider it acceptable to use violence against those that oppose them or to prevent them accessing areas that do not wish their presence.
 
What do they do? Do they passively resist and accept the beatings etc that come? Do they stand aside and allow marches despite opposing the march? Do they fight back?
 
One of my favourite songs is the Ghosts of Cable Street which remembers ordinary people erecting barricades in the streets to prevent the British fascists in the 1930's marching through jewish areas of London. The similarities with today in the US are amazing. In 1936, about 20,000 anti-fascists were met by 6,000 police to permit a march of 2,000–3,000 fascists. The police ended up fighting the demonstrators because the Government would not ban the marching. The battle of cable street however did effectively end the ambitions of the fascist movement in the UK and put us firmly on the right side of the conflict that followed a few years later.

Seriously in ww2 the axis used violence (war) to spread fascism and a regime that practiced mass murder, slavery and genocide. The allies waged war (used violence) to stop regimes that practiced and spread fascism, slavery and genocide. According to what you seem to be saying the allies were no better than the axis.

People in America need to face some ugly facts. You can't compromise with groups who want to exterminate tens of millions of people. You can't meet people who want a dictatorship half way.
 
It doesn't take "two to make a fight" no matter what ignorant adults tell kids. It takes two sides to make peace. If one side insists on getting their way violently, the other side fights, or is crushed.

It would be a tableau with 5 typical confederate army privates marching forward, muskets held ready. They would be thin, gaunt and poorly dressed in obviously low quality uniforms. Some would be old, some little more than boys. Some would have their feet wrapped in rags instead of boots.
 
Behind them is an opulently set table with a well fed white family sitting at it consuming a sumptuous meal, while slaves in chains wait on them. The obvious patriarch of this wealthy family would be holding a wine glass in one hand while pointing imperiously ahead with the other, obviously ordering the gaunt, poorly dressed soldiers forward.
 
It would me a memorial to the poor, impoverished common southern citizens that could never afford to own a slave being sent out to fight and die by the wealthy southern slave owners to defend their wealth and right to own slaves.
