  1. Screw 'em if they can't take a joke!
  2. I'm reasonably certain I can still answer part (a). It'd take a little work to answer the other two, though.
  3. Or offspring to come in at a quarter to 5 in the morning. Did that this past week.
  4. Fine. Because you demanded it: A mosquito cried out in pain, "A chemist has poisoned my brain!" The cause of its sorrow Was para-dichloro- diphenyl-trichloroethane
  5. Florida's legislature just voted to go DST all year long. If the governor signs the bill, it would still require an act of Congress before it could become official. (That would put them on the same time as the Maritime provinces in Canada, wouldn't it? )
  6. The same abbreviation works for both.
  7. And in other news, the Donkeys still don't have a QB.
  8. I have to take the Physics Praxis exam in a few weeks. Looking forward to that, let me tell you.
  9. White pine. Mahogany, if his PAC can raise enough money.
  10. I have to say, I get a real charge out of this thought. I'm sure you're going to encounter some resistance, however.
  11. Q: PeTA objects to our use of rats in this research facility, and besides, hipsters are easier to find. A: Surely not everybody wants a rock to wind a piece of string around.
  12. The only thing surprising about this turn of events is that I'm actually surprised by it.
  13. Q: The Flash told us he wants his movie released next week. A: No, I'm pretty sure that pumpkin pie counts as a vegetable.
  14. Every time I fly Skywest, I get the full security inspection. I realize both my first and last names are very common, but I can't help but feel like somebody somewhere figured out that I have a degree in chemistry, and is nervous about the fact that I might want to be on an airplane.
  15. So, Jimmy Buffett, John Denver, Linda Ronstadt, Dr. Hook, and ABBA?
  16. I was discussing this very thing with some other science teachers last week. One of my happiest moments was when one of my former students--now agonist ready to graduate with a degree in chemistry--told me, "Before I took your class, I was going to be an English major." (Not that there's anything wrong with being an English major, of course. But to get a young woman of her talent and intellect into the Sciences is something I consider a great personal victory.)
  17. That's certainly true. It's likely that any of the Vikings' quarterbacks from last season would be an upgrade. I have no hope whatsoever that the Donkeys' problems will be fixed via the draft. Von Miller notwithstanding, the past few Denver drafts have been underwhelming. And as I believe I have said before, the best quarterback ever drafted by the Donkeys is arguably Jay Cutler. Ponder that for a moment, if you will.
  18. Well, it appears that the Donkeys are out of the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes. The new name that's popping up: Case Keenum.
